Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

If we are going to have an autistic thunderdome, I request that T&H forum go in there as well since the users in it are very evolved and responsible enough to not chimp out over less ratings. These people deserve the privilege of less ratings because they are so mature that they earned it. A&N and Happenings has too many Nazis in it and aren’t mature enough to condemn Nazis, and are probably dumb enough to actually grow to love the Nazis with the new disagree button. You can’t respect and love Nazis in A&N and Happenings, but the evolved users of T&H don’t harbor Nazis and will therefore use the disagree rating more maturely.

There are a ton of weird gay cliques on the politics area of the site and it's a huge issue now. It's weird factionalism that has nothing to do with the core purpose of the site and it's eating away at the community. Notice how the first thing people do is bitch about liberals when it's EVERYBODY who complains. You've ALL done it. I get revenge rating reports EVERYDAY from all sides. I'll warn someone for revenge rating and then they start fucking reporting someone for the same shit the same hour. It's CONSTANT.

So this is what you get. And if the gay private message cliques keep causing factionalism over shit, I really don't know what I can do short of a purge or hard community fork.

It’s been months since Snailslime’s negrate spam, where everyone in a thread would be affected regardless of what they posted, and almost a month or two since the PM hugbox collapsed. And really there was no reason to remove neutral ratings like thunk provoking or lunacy.

It sounds like it’s a user problem and not a problem with ratings or even the forum. Because now it’s going right back to using short replies to call someone autistic or trash.

Maybe this is what was inevitable, but at least reconsider the neutral ratings being purged and maybe have a whitelist of “responsible ratings users” or allow True and Honest access to the full range of ratings on A&H. Because right now I’m reconsidering getting into bitcoin so I can donate. Why bother if Null will strip ratings from forums you use?

At this point I'm seriously beginning to wonder if they think their stickers accomplish something IRL as opposed to just marking who's the biggest retard that's the best at riling other retards up. Personally speaking, I think the Donald Trump thread shouldn't even exist in the first place. Almost any politician can be considered a lolcow if you look hard enough and all it does is attract more politispergs. Plus Trump Derangement Syndrome and Enslavement Syndrome already exist.

I actually disagree, to a certain extent. Trump has many cow attributes and a DJT was a long time coming. Trump was “the cow that got away”.
Maybe it should be on the Happenings board or something, I think Joe Biden has a megathread there, but just because Trump was president doesn’t make him untouchable.

I think moving it to A&H and rebranding it a DJT megathread would a better idea. In comparison to others (Chris chan, JustinRPG, Amberlynn Reid, Shmorky, Gunt etc) he just doesn't quite fit the idea of a lolcow too well.

It doesn’t condemn Nazis enough. Only T&H is responsible enough to use that rating. The only places that should be able to use “respectfully disagree, but I still love you” are places like T&H because they are mature enough to have the privilege of less ratings. You really think that kind of “disagree” in A&N won’t stop Nazis and Nazi recruitment? We need only negative ratings for A&N because of this. Too many Nazis are there. The only people allowed to use all ratings in A&N should be T&H users because they obviously understand things and aren’t Nazis. This is common sense.

Actually, the disagree on A&N is more positive than the positive ratings because it says “respectfully disagree, but I still love you”. That’s like saying you don’t fully agree with a serial killer, but still love them, and that’s messed up. Null must change this or we will create more Nazis by letting them down softly.
