Today's local madness: German state bans advertisement for non-essential products, because, uhm... They want to appear like they're doing literally anything?
Basically, discounters that are still open are not allowed to advertise non-food products and bargains anymore. Out of "solidarity" with the closed down stores that would otherwise carry such non-essential products, apparently? Completely pointless.

Yes. Instead of allowing the "non-essential" stores to open, do pointless stupid shit. Very helpful and smart.

Speaking about german stores...

Bold of you to assume the Krauts weren't obnoxiously authoritarian before they let the commies integrate.
It's in their nature to follow rules; "alles muss in Ordnung sein", "ordentlich" ... they pride themselves on their orderliness / bureaucratic nature. Seems like the perfect environment to prove that masks don't work, I'd wager their mask compliance is the highest among European nations

They arent even being subtle that this is to hurt and destroy local businesses

I think it's the opposite.

The stores being allowed to trade during the lockdowns are the big box retailers and grocery chains. The stores forced to close are local convenience stores, restaurants etc.

We're going to emerge from Covid with a horrendously skewed market. A few giant retail chains, plus Amazon, dominating with a decimated small business sector.

I think the Germans are trying to slow that process. After all the grocery chains are only allowed to stay open because they sell essential items, i.e. food, so why should they be able to sell non essentials like clothing and electronic goods when their competition in these areas are closed due to public health orders?

Don't get me wrong I think all of the lockdowns are retarded and should end immediately, but yes if we are going to have them protecting small business should be our priority.

Me: *reading that* Humm, thats a good point. Let me rate it "thunk provoking"...oh wait...*sigh*

🤔, there, thats the best I can afford for now

like any troll really.
least now he has to put some effort in it (lul) instead of putting stickers over the whole thread with one hand and a thumb up his pooper.

You are aware that he doesnt give a shit and is more proud of the fact that he "triggered" some enough people to cause something like this to happen? He won and he knows it

If the vaccine is so fragile then why don't they just make the appointments via the waiting list before cracking one of the vials open?
The biggest issue I've seen is that there's no rhyme or reason to either who gets the vaccines or when. Despite asking for Federal direction/oversight even before Trump left office, so many states and localities are doing their own thing in determining who gets the vaccines first, when, and how.

The other issue I've observed is that seniors and other people on top of the priority list in most places lack either internet access or smartphones which those in charge assume people have so that they can be e-mailed or texted when they're next to be vaccinated. The rollout has been inconsistent and underwhelming at best; with Trump out of office, he can't be the scapegoat any more.

When the Catholics make you look bad... you know you're fucking up.
Can confirm that the Catholic K-12 schools in my part of Kiwiland have been open as much as possible given the constraints of both local restrictions and their diocesan COVID protocols because they get that in-person learning should take place as much as safely possible. Sure, some of the area parochial schools have had outbreaks, and many have reduced the number of extracurricular activities they offer, but they're doing what they can in as safe a manner possible. Catholic Schools may be far from perfect and out of budget for many, but this is one instance where they're doing something right.

Even if we believe China's claims that still means the virus keeps popping the fuck back up no matter how hard they lock down.
Even the doomers I know consistently press X to doubt anything China has publicly stated about COVID and their case/death numbers. The sad part is that entities such as WHO will never be able to learn what exactly happened because of the partisan and global politics involved when it comes to what's publicly shared from China to the rest of the world as a whole.

Historically, small businesses have struggled to be successful. Mega-corps such as Wal-Mart, Amazon, and others have made it even more difficult for them in current times unless they offer niche or individualized products/services. The small businesses, their owners, and those employed by them are the ones whose livelihoods are most impacted by these restrictions and they're the ones who get little in terms of meaningful financial assistance. Sure, the extra unemployment and stimulus checks helped some, but those are one-time and temporary fixes to a long-term issue.

The latest bullshit from the county I live in. No doubt the county's vaccination rate might be the worst in the nation. Monterey County government is useless except to collect and spend our tax dollars. Fuck 'em.

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE CARMEL PINE CONE

February 13, 2021, 3:47 p.m.

IS MONTEREY COUNTY'S VACCINATION RATE WORST IN NATION?

On Thursday the Wall Street Journal, citing data from Feb. 9, reported that Alabama had the worst vaccination rate in the nation, with just 10,013 doses administered per 100,000 residents. But on the same date, Monterey County said only about 8,000 doses had been administered here per 100,000 county residents. Nationwide county-by-county vaccination data doesn't seem to be publicly available, but if Monterey County is that far behind Alabama, the county's vaccination rate has to be one of the worst in the country. (Not that I give a flying fuck. STILL not getting vaccinated. They can go bite me crank, matey! - JS)

The State of California, meanwhile, is doing much better. According to the latest numbers from the Centers for Disease Control, California has administered a total of 5.5 million doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, or more than 14,000 per 100,000 population. Nationwide, about 15,000 doses have been administered per 100,000 Americans — or almost double the Monterey County rate — the CDC said.

The county is doing such a poor job getting shots into arms, it's easy to see why it also lags in moving through the eligibility tiers. One month ago today, Gov. Gavin Newsom said everyone 65 and over was eligible to be vaccinated, but Monterey County has given no indication when it will actually let people in the 65-to-74 group start receiving their shots. And then yesterday, state health secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly said Californians who are 64 and younger and have severe health conditions would be eligible to get a coronavirus vaccine beginning March 15. Will Monterey County be on board with that? It doesn't seem likely.

NEW INFECTIONS CONTINUE STEADY DECLINE

The latest stats announced this morning by the county health department show 809 new coronavirus cases confirmed among county residents over the last week — a decline of 27 percent from the total one week ago and 77 percent lower than the total for the week ending Jan. 13.

This week's 809 cases include 141 on the Monterey Peninsula: 66 in Seaside, 35 in Marina, 25 in Monterey, six in Pacific Grove, three in Pebble Beach, two each in Carmel Valley and Carmel area (93923), one in Carmel-by-the-Sea and none in Big Sur. A single case was attributed to an unspecified area. The county's 809 new cases also include 586 in Salinas and the Salinas Valley.

If you're looking for an update on Monterey County's status under the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy shutdown rules, we can tell you that today's update shows the county has made a lot of progress toward moving from the Purple Tier to the Red Tier, though we still have a long way to go. As of right now, the county's 7-day average of new cases per 100,000 residents is 25.3. One month ago, it was 111.0. It has to get to 7.0 before more sectors of our economy will be allowed to reopen.

The Monterey County Health Department's coronavirus data website is here, and the latest numbers from the California Department of Public Health are here.

Please remember that if you're eligible you can try to make an appointment for a vaccination in Monterey County by checking these websites: mcvaccinate.com, offered by the county health department, and www.chomp.org/vaccine, which is the site for clinics operated by Community Hospital. You may also be able to schedule a vaccination at cvs.com. (And monkeys might fly out of my ass. - JS)

Gotta love how suddenly infections are dramatically going down, I wonder how the cultists are reacting.

"see? the mask work. now wear more!"

tards screaming at each other in sticker form and then run crying to papa nool are both winners in my book.
