I always find the entitlement of transtrenders hilarious. Like, cis people get misgendered all the time, especially flat-chested women who wear more masculine clothing. Do they somehow think this is something exclusive to Transgender people?

I think they ultimately fail to understand why purposely misgendering hurts Transgender people. By doing that you completely fail to acknowledge their identity after giving fair opportunity to do so. It's not the misgendering that is bad, its the lack of respect. This is also why I get annoyed with people who throw a tantrum if people have trouble with getting used to someone they knew being Trans. It's different, let them get used to it, they're making an active effort to try to get used to it so obviously they care about you; don't be a giant dick parade about it

When I was 17 I was living in North Carolina for one summer and I was working at a beach shop and I had a conversation with a lady that lasted like five minutes, and by the end of it she still called me "young man."

I am 5'1". I have a high-pitched voice. I was wearing shorts exposing my shaved legs. But I had short hair and I didn't have very big boobs at the time so obviously I was a boy.

Her son corrected her but I never got called a boy so much in my life as I did that fucking summer.

But, you know, I didn't get my dysphoria triggered because I'm not trying to pass as another gender. It's probably not quite the same.

Last year I had a woman who would insist I was a man and called me he. I consider myself a bit in the middle but I couldn't help but feel really awkward that she seemed to be blind to the fact that I have a female figure.

A little OT but my bf's aunt also thought I was Trans and warned my bf of me being a trap. He's blind so he had no idea what to believe until he figured out for himself.

So yeah. Not particularly uncommon.

Been there done that. I must have some kinda mannish musk, aura or something. I've been called a boy by little kids, even when I had long hair. At my old job tons of people would say 'excuse me sir' etc. I didn't mind, I'm quite androgynous and I find it amusing.

Most times "misgendering" is just an honest mistake or in the scenario of talking to a trans person, its honestly just habit. Especially if you've known them forever. Hell, people with similar names fucks me up enough. I could know you for 5 years and still say a different name if its similar to another close friend's.

People need to lower their expectations of others. If they do get misgendered, feel as if it was gonna happen regardless. People just wanna do enough to get by. When they do succeed in saying the proper things, its a pleasant surprise. I'm not saying to have no faith in your fellow man, just less.

The funny thing is that Vriska would probably mercilessly make fun of otherkin. /sperg
Tumblr is full of people pretending to be unpleasant characters but acting nothing like them. Part of me kind of wants to see them run into someone who roleplays as a terrible character and actually keeps them in-character when it comes to Tumblr's precious social justice issues.

Whenever I talk to people on the phone or email trying to buy shit off kijiji they always think I'm a dude because 1. I use the name Phil rather than my real name 2. I sound like a 12 year old boy
One memorable occassion was when I was adopting a hermit crab, I talked to the guy about it on the phone and he's like "Ok, see you then buddy" in fact if people think I'm a dude I don't correct them because I want to see how long I can keep them thinking I'm a dude.
Also I go by Phil because no one knows how to pronounce my fucking name.

The poster (ipgd) made a much longer and comprehensive take down of the Tumblr otherkin community here.

Venture Bros has a pretty chill fandom compared to other cartoon shows out there but sometimes you get bullshit like this.

Said character, while not exactly masculine, is clearly a guy and has never once felt uncomfortable with his gender. He even tried to grow out facial hair in the more recent seasons. That doesn't sound like someone who's MtF.

I swear, Tumblr's obsession with trans people is practically a fetish at this point. It's fucking creepy.

I think it is a fetish for at least some of them. Just look at IDCP. She's a cis girl, but she used to have a fetish for trans men, so she used to pretend to be one. But trans men wouldn't sleep with her, so she started hating them, and now she has a fetish for trans women and is pretending to be one of them now. For people on Tumblr, it's half fetish and half playing dress-up with fake gender identities.
