I think Brittany Venti (and other thots) bitching about her had a lot to do with it, but I think there are some other factors involved.

Oh yes, I was being very flippant. Those are all good points, and it illustrates that more than charisma, grace is needed to be a great entertainer. It's more important to be a genuinely kind, humble person than to present yourself as a sex bomb or a pure, untouched virgin that gachikoi totally would have a chance with.

• V-tubers run contrary to Thotish culture in general which drives jaded dudes towards them
• Thots online have become too sexual to be attractive so dudes are going to V-tubers because they're more "cute" than "sexy"
• People like Brittany Venti are cows so people just naturally want to put themselves at the opposite ends of their likes and dislikes
• Japanese entertainment is just overtaking western entertainment in general
• Most people online now recognize that the whole loli controversy has a subtext to it well outside of the controversy itself
• Most people bitching about V-tubers are extremely A-loggy even when they're in the right about some things

Internal to her content:

• Her content isn't dirty for the most part which makes it a form of escapism for a lot of people
• Because it's not overtly sexual, a lot of chicks like her content too (I know a female fan of her's IRL)
• She actually has some real talents to show off (e.g. singing, gaming, acting)
• Due to her being a mostly English V-tuber she's getting a lot of western fans
• She has a pretty good sense of humor and can be outright trollish at times
• She banters well with other popular V-tubers. This is likely aided by the fact that other V-tubers think she's cute

The last part is likely the biggest imo because it's pretty much the opposite of the kind of back and forth drama that screws up so many other online entertainers.

Most of the Filipino fans who are affluent enough to have spare cash to splurge/throw on SCs are already simping for the EN gals (Red SCs with Php currency aren't uncommon on Calli, Ame or Gura's streams).

The few Filipino vtubers that are relatively "big" enough to have their own small following of Filipino viewers aren't really popular enough to attract the rest of the mainstream Filipino online trolls - which is where most of the usual "peenoise" and toxicity come from. Their audience are pretty much quarantined and relatively well-behaved (Lyrica's comes to mind) and most of the typical online streaming audience are pretty much fixated on the few Filipino e-thots they find live streaming mobile games on Facebook anyway.

Her discord is crazy chaotic though, but still behaved yes. Now I worry how toxic things will get should she and,say, Kaheru get any larger and end up luring those kinds of toxicity did to pivoting to Facebook (assuming their shitposts stop getting copyright claimed there)

In case you wanted to hear a perspective of this from someone that’s actually been in the country behind the Firewall, the day that never happened is basically an open secret. VPNs are widespread, but at least according to some anons the Chinese government can demand a VPN provider show what their users are doing underneath the encryption and they’re forced to comply. This lines up with my phone’s VPN apps all of a sudden saying “No longer available in China” two years ago...except I could still connect to US-based servers, it just took a few more tries. That is a pretty smart way to express sarcasm that also triggered some nostalgia for Cow and Chicken. But they are definitely factors to her success, just not all of them. And regarding trolling, I think she gets to be Senzawa and a hundred other things too, hence why she even got into this.

I don't think it's within the norm here to doxx non-lolcows and the consensus seems to be that every 'corporate hire' hasn't passed that threshold. Also saw an old post saying Kiara is so close to being one but her actively avoiding that makes her endearing.

I guess we can't get on the bugmen too much. Living in China is a personal hell all its own. I'm sure for many of them, this the only reprieve they have from having to actually face how much their lives suck generally.

I got this sneaky suspicion that Cover wants to keep JP and EN isolated from one-another. ID and JP have been integrating more but EN is still somewhat isolated. Haachama being told to leave the EN server, for example, gives me this idea that for some reason, Cover is more comfortable with ID-JP collabs being more frequent but not JP-EN collabs. It is possible that there are business reasons for this, licensing reasons, etc. However, I'm not entirely sure. There's always that suspicion that it is standard-issue nihonjin-ron ethnocentrism/xenophobia shit but I think that would end up with ID isolated as well, which isn't happening. It probably has to do with fanbases, licensing, wanting EN to get a strong, firm foundation, and not wanting EN to turn out like CN. The only other Holo branch that is more isolated than EN is Holostars, which probably has more to do with fear of gachikois and stuff than anything else.

the dumbest and simple logical reason first is timezone, JP-EN who live outside japan it kinda messed up. like you need to adjust between each other, i guess 10-11 hours different (?) not to mentioned beside streaming, i guess JP talent have another schedule like dance/sing practice for upcoming show that mostly never mentioned during stream. maybe if Kanata not to mentioned that stuff in her recent message, i may forgot they need to practice all and stuff before their concert. while ID-JP collabs more plausible due only have 2 hours different timezone.

i agree maybe the direction Cover gonna do with EN that they will stand alone later on, knowing how sucessful they are now. maybe need management that adjusting the western market, esp with the merc and stuff.

Yeah, the doxxes were early in the thread, and while it was nice to see the face behind the avatar, ultimately people decided that there really wasn't much to talk about after. Most of the girls are just normal people who are just being paid to be entertainers (bar Kiara who people are just waiting implode)

Also, speaking of Gura, that was from lolcow. People there managed to get the names of her relatives and other family members and the admins kinda decided that that was too much considering she really wasn't doing anything.

Besides, most of the cow-worthy Vtubers are the random ENVtubers who aren't even that important.
