I suspect every time anyone in her family tries to gently talk to her about her weight, she flies off the handle and attacks. They've probably given up.

I suspect it’s far more simple than this: no one cares enough to stand up to her in the first place.
Her mother purposely got pregnant as a teen in order to keep Chantal’s father around, which unsurprisingly didn’t work. So her biological father certainly doesn’t care enough.
Her step father, who is the closest thing she has to a father figure, seems like a decent enough man, but he had to tolerate the chaos she was constantly causing as a teenager and if Manicunt’s posts were to be believed, Chantal also treated his actual biological daughter (who may or may not have had some issues of her own that made her even more vulnerable, thus making anyone treating her poorly even more abhorrent) like crap. No matter how decent of a person you might be, if someone causes pain to your biological child I’m pretty sure that person won’t be someone who you’re willing to go out on a limb for.
Her mother didn’t want her and shuffled her off to her own mother until such a time as she was willing to “settle down” and play house with a new family. Assuming Chantal wasn’t being a malicious cow (which is admittedly unlikely) in saying that Nat had special needs of some kind, Chantal’s mother was likely busy with her shiny-new-not-already-past-the-point-of-no-return daughter/family. Not to mention Chantal had already thoroughly established herself as completely beyond being able to be convinced into being functional at a young age. The fact that her mother kicked her out after her fake suicide attempt speaks volumes. She’s hardly the first teenager to fake a suicide attempt or actually make an attempt for attention and live through it. But I don’t think kicking said teenager out is standard operating procedure... unless of course your family doesn’t care enough about you to tolerate your bs.
Grandma may have collected her and done most of the rearing, but grandma has always taken the easier route of enabling. She’d be the only person I’d imagine might genuinely care enough to try, but she’s also the one most likely to have been in denial about the extent of the problem. By the time she was willing to try sprinkling some guilt on the issue, grandma herself likely wasn’t in a position to deal with any of Chantal’s problems. Additionally, Chantal is genuinely unintelligent in a way that is exceptional, which also makes me sceptical as to how well any blood relative of hers could potentially even understand the full extent of the danger Chantal was in. Lots of fat people live a long time.
As for extended family, the recent reveal of her uncle’s place and mention of their travel habits was also interesting - big family home, but no cousins Chantal has ever mentioned being friends with?

Her friends, such as they are, equally don’t care enough. Peetz is probably incapable of voicing a direct opinion that isn’t SJW rhetoric copy and pasted from somewhere else. I also imagine that the course of their relationship set his status within it firmly and he’s either not aware enough to know he needs to step out of it to help her, or doesn’t care enough to do so. All other close relationships bailed. Rina is but a distant memory now. Bibi walks as a free manlet.

Basically, I don’t think it has anything to do with people being too scared to confront her. I think it’s just that they simply don’t care enough to do more than take the path of least resistance. Chantal is that family member everyone secretly cringes at but waves off as “yeah that’s how she is” with an eye roll and a shrug. Not their responsibility. Confronting people about their horrible ingrained toxic behaviours is work. Why bother?

Very tough for a parent, especially a mother, but Nat seems to have managed it. Stepdad also seems pretty much out of sight. Someone else in the family took over whatever role she was playing in grandma's life at least a year ago. So it really is only her mum that she has left, and that contact seems sparse and strained at best. I don't recall seeing mum in the luxury villa since moving day. When we see mum, it's usually Chantal has forced her way into mums home. I do think, from what she's shown us anyway, that everyone has backed off her and only deals with her for the rare family function or emergency. No-one in her family is coming to her, she is going to them. I have no doubt she pushes her way into anything she can to make herself feel indispensable, and to prove her worthiness to her YouTube community, when the reality is she is not wanted. Going to her uncles when gran was released from hospital is a prime example. Unwanted and in the way, not tolerated, but in her mind a great opportunity for a livestream to garner all those cyber hugs she needs.

Remember that we’re talking about the same monster who as a teenager, after not getting her way, decided to punish her mother by lying and saying that she took an overdose of Zoloft to kill herself. Then she kept the lie going by allowing her mom to rush her to the ER. When they wanted to provide treatment, instead of finally fessing up, she supposedly closed herself in the bathroom and announced she was “taking the rest of the pills” so that she could get some in her system in order to keep the charade going. This all resulted in impatient treatment which she ran away from and emotionally manipulated another family member into retrieving her. And to top it all off, years later as an adult, she uploaded the entire story to the internet as if this likely traumatic experience for her family was just a cute & quirky adventure.

I’m sure that mistakes were made in her upbringing but some people are born with a susceptibility to be terrible humans. I’m sure that wasn’t the only time her family tried to help her and then suffered the consequences. Perhaps they finally just gave up hope. The fact that they still speak to her could be evidence that they’re good people who are trying to learn how to love a truly unlovable person It’s certainly possible.

Notice how beside Peetz, the very few people who are still gravitating in Chantal's orbit are family members. And... not even all of them. Im European and some (not all) americans say the same thing I think for some people from US its a way to justify their system of a considerable lack of social protection ano publich healthcare (for our standards). Yes its paid with tax money of course but for one Chantal you have 10000 or more sick people that will have acess to public healthcare without stressing about money (and medications). Any public service will be abused but essencial services (for ones survival and dignity) should be public... (my opinion for my country only) its also true that others will always abuse the system but that will also happen in countries like US one way or another (where people also abuse on wellfare and corporations also have pretty abusive behaviors)

Here , while she would have the right for health care has a civil human right she would never ever be abble to get disability here ever because tecnhicaly she is able to work and obesity. is not considered a disease unless the person has a specific diagnose that causes obsisity (and not a consequence of it)... she would have a pension after 65 years but only based on her contributions which I suppose are low. She would not have the right to in pacient care here for obesety that's not subsidezed, on the. other hand cancer treatment is one of the best in the world and its free.
