NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

Nintendo doesn't give a shit. The only censorship of designs they ever do is to keep CERO or the ESRB off their ass. Nintendo of America has no hand in the actual development of the games, maybe besides translations, but idk if Treehouse is even around anymore (if they aren't, thank GOD).
NOA has said the only censorship they'll do is to fall into rating guidelines. * this was back when everybody was shitting themselves over Sony's new policies *
Gee, I wonder why?

I suspect you're the sort of person who shouts about things like this in one breath, and then in the next breath decries that everything in theaters is "CONSOOM PRODUCT" Marvel crap. Art will offend sensibilities. Large groups of people won't like it. I don't like TLOU2, not because it's ugly or cucked or jewish tricks or whatever the fuck you're complaining about, but because it's a chore and about miserable people doing miserable things to other miserable people in ways that are miserable to play. It's not fun, and that's what happens when you prioritize "game as artistic work" (for people with very pretentious ideas about art) as opposed to "game as a fucking game." They could do this because TLOU2 was assumed to be a "shoo-in": The Last of Us was one of the most well-liked games of its generation and sold somewhere on the level of the Holy Bible: the management felt confident that they could let the auteurs off of their leads and hey, if they end up making a piece of shit, it would sell on the name alone and make profit margins go up. For another example of what happens when you let the auteurs take full control over development and start butchering the gameplay in the name of "muh artistic vision", look at Shenmue III. The difference is that Sony Interactive backed up a big money truck at the Game Awards. My opinion is apparently not uncommon, but neither is the opposite: the game's user reviews indicate that it's highly polarizing across the board, and I hate to break it to you, but it's unlikely even half of those positive user reviews are all paid shills and bots. It's more likely that a large segment of the population likes this game and sees it as an artistic achievement; you can call them all bugmen or cucks or soyboys or whatever, but at the end of the day their dollar is just as valuable as yours.

Let's talk about The Game Awards, since you brought them up: I'm sorry you're apparently very young, but awards shows are always bullshit and mean nothing. If they're industry-run, the awards go to whoever backed up the biggest money truck. If they're artist-run, they go to some pretentious obscure piece of shit that nobody's ever heard of. A couple bones are thrown to the plebs, but that's it. I never gave a fuck about the Game Awards before TLOU2 swept, and I don't care about them afterwards- and I have a sneaking suspicion you don't, either, and just want to bring it up because you think it's further proof of your conspiracy instead of evidence that awards shows are, in fact, awards shows. The first year the Grammys began awarding a prize for Best Rap Album, Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, one of the most influential and cherished albums of that decade, was released. The winner was Will Smith for an album of music recorded under his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air persona. The Game Awards event is nothing new or special, and certainly isn't part of some kind of Illuminati scheme.
Likewise, I rarely consider professional critics' opinions to be anything more than the opinion of a professional critic, who tend to have tastes different from the general populace.

When the female Ghostbusters came out, people like you (which included me at the time) said the same kind of shit; it signaled the end of pop culture and fun, that (((They))) were doing it to demoralize all the redpilled silent majority, etc. And then it got dropped, buried in a pit, and now they're releasing a soft reboot of the original franchise that decanonizes Fat Chicks Ghostbusters, because the latter didn't sell. TLOU2 didn't sell according to you, and if that's true I suspect we won't see much of it again, and certainly not in the form it was in previously.

TL;DR stop mainlining mercury, consider that a fucking army is needed to make a vidya and said armies are not of Borg, and stop thinking awards shows and critics mean shit like a mark. Only REEEtards think these things mean anything.
That's the thing I never understood about the Gamergate shitshow. When I was a teen it was common knowledge that review magazines were bought and paid for to the point they were routinely mocked on Xplay for it.
>market forces
You think anything is about profit anymore? Almost no one likes much less pays for interracial porn. But they produce the fuck out of it and shove it in everyone's faces. Its a massive in the red money sink. Why do they do it? I thought people realized lolberg shit was false by now.
Lol sure, nobody cares about profit anymore that's why Sony couldn't bury fembusters fast enough when it bombed, Disney ignored the reeing about Gina Carano until she stuck her foot in her mouth one too many times on Twitter and WB pretty much told Ray Fisher to go fuck himself for that sweet Snyder Cash.

Even "woke" Playstation still releases weeb fanservice games on their platform despite their new policies.

I’m sure this will surprise no one, but the Kotaku article does everything it can to paint this designer and this game in a bad light, describing the game as “controversial” even though the only controversy I know of is that Harry Potter is problematic to the super woke concerning issues that normies either don’t care about or agree with Rowling on. The author states that the designer was supportive of GamerGate, and then only describes it as a targeted harassment campaign to make it look that’s what he supported. Given this is all tied to a Harry Potter game, I guess Kotaku’s smooth brained readership needs a simple narrative

They still generally gave you what you'd need to know about whether a game was something you'd be interested in, even if you might have to read between the lines of a review to separate hype from fact. Current "games journalism" doesn't even address anything relevant to someone who is considering buying something.

I'm stealing this from somewhere but the world's largest video game magazine, Game Informer, has ran pictures of their editors/writers/staff partying with game developers/publishers/PR people in every issue for over twenty years now, even stuff like people dating wasn't hidden. The magazine is published by the same company that owns GameStop. Nobody cares because it's traditionally been all up front about these connections. And it's not like they haven't had their own faggots and drama whores, Imran Khan of ResetERA worked there for a while notably. They just didn't run the place too, instead it was people with 20+ year stints working on an actual print magazine.

A lot of these places that got caught up in Gamergate were faggots all the way down.

The culture shifted. Everyone who was anti-establishment and edgy during the Bush years transformed into wannabe elites and yes men afterwards. I won't say it was directly Obama's fault, much bigger than him after all, but holy shit the difference between where the culture was in 2007 and 2008 is night and day.

I legitimately have no idea what this ban is. You can look through the thread but there's no context that explains it any better: https://www.resetera.com/threads/wh...k-into-school-in-the-us.380484/#post-58907943

Boarzit Legacy continues to be an endless salt mine

So wishing death upon the 12 year olds and/or parents of 12 year olds who buy the new Harry Potter game is worthy of a ban but so is saying anything good about it because Era janitors want to have their cake and eat it too again.

This is ResetEra:

ALL OF THEM

Refused to comment to Kotaku when asked about the Harry Potter dev who made "anti-SJW" YouTube videos. That means they're COMPLICIT in the troon murdering.
based

they are shitting on Kotaku though lol

So you can't say SJW but you also can't say anti-SJW, got it.

It sounds like the US had it worse than the UK, but even so there were review scandals prior to gamergate. Driv3rgate, GerstmannGate, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, and more that I'm likely forgetting.

Magazines would sell out, but they had to maintain a readership. It's why 7/10 became "average to bad" in the eyes of some gamers, because that the score given to big games that paid for a good review. Low enough for the magazine to keep it's credibility, high enough that publishers got the "good" review they paid for.

In the US, it could be. I heard an theory a while back that the Obama administration started a fund to "stop the spread of misinformation", or something like that. It explained why the clickbait rags were kept afloat (government money) and why they started collapsing a couple of years ago (the program ended and Trump didn't renew it). I'm not a US politics sperg so that could be all bs.

Way to shame the protag for her choice of clothing, PlanetSmasher.
Her thigh gap, her choice.

Meanwhile, literal men can larp as women and that's considered "brave" and "groundbreaking".

A thigh gap is when your things don't touch when you put your feet together. The dimwit means the gap between her leggings and her skirt which is called zettai ryouiki or absolute territory. It is only objectification in the sense that Muslim women showing their hair is haram.

Honestly the think that shocked me about this site was that back in December. Someone wanted to make a list of VAs who did crappy things (the ones listed were just VAs who aren't liberal). The thread only had two comments before a mod shut it down. I was surprised becuase the site doesn't seem to be against wishing death on people and their family. So I was shocked something as a list of VAs you don't like is against the rules, but wishing someone's child's death isn't.

Mods see that sort of shit as doxxxxxxxxing, so it's a no-no.

It's extra strange because we know the mods keep a detailed list of the members and every one of their "sins". They're always ready with a ban message that takes into account the member's history.

Any far leftist who tells you they don't want a master list of non-compliant people in ANY industry or walk of life is lying, and they just want to be secretive about it.
