I'm gonna be totally honest, I don't want to watch this mess. I'm going to mute the video, turn on subtitles, and set it to 2x speed, and that's honestly the most I can take. I tolerate Lindsay because she occasionally puts out something I enjoy, but I'd rather pull my own teeth with pliers than subject myself to an hour long video that's 50% Hontra. I barely had the patience to stomach her Rowling video, and this is probably just that with a bunch of Hontra thrown in. Vomit.Contrapoints collaboration, Jenny Nicholson voiceovers, merch shilling, and a stale topic? What more could we ask for in a Lindsay shitpost!
I wish these clowns would actually read what Rowling said, because she's not the "TERF ringleader," she's a libfem that's somewhat GC-- TERF lite, I guess you could say. Her stance is basically that troons are fine as long as they're not drugging kids or undermining issues of female biology like abortion and FGM. That's not even being a TERF; being supportive of troons so long as kids and sports aren't involved is basically the position most normies have. Side note: Before I get started, I guarantee you Lindsay and/or Hontra is going to bring up that murder mystery Rowling wrote where the killer crossdresses, and maybe also the bathrooms in Harry Potter that magically bar you from entering if you're the wrong sex. I should note as well that a poll in Britian found that the public is overwhelmingly opposed to pre-op MTFs (which represent the majority) entering womens' bathrooms-- once again, Rowling is just saying what plenty of normies already think:
Onto the video:
In the beginning, Hontra opens by talking about Psycho and how it's apparently troonphobic, which has got to be the most retarded possible take. The idea is that Norman Bates has a dissociative second identity where he literally believes that he's his mom, and if that makes him a troon, well, that's a decidedly troonphobic definition of one. Then Lindsay argues with a bunch of the response videos and e-mails she got despite previously saying that she totally doesn't watch your response videos, Gary. So much for that, lmao. She goes down the line of tired TRA talking points; "We don't deny biology!!1!1!" "TERFs are in cahoots with the convervatives!!1!!" "Troons are just trying to exist!1!1!!" "Caring about kids is something homophobes did, so anyone who uses that argument is a homophobe!1!1!!" and finally the new classic, "I don't actually care about JK Rowling1!1!" I'm so tired of arguing with the same garbage over and over again. These people are basically reading from a script at this point. She somehow manages to tie this back in to the actual subject (?) of the video by saying that she thinks movies like Psycho are indirectly the reason troonphobia is a thing. Yes, really.
Also excuse my autism but Lindsay says that Achilles crossdresses is the Iliad, which is untrue-- that was a different story that takes place before the Iliad. She conveniently left out the part where he raped and impregnated one of the princesses he was living with while he was in drag, whoops. I already touched on the Pycho thing, but she basically reiterates what Hontra said while peppering in some stuff about Ed Gein, off of whom Bates and Gumb are both loosely based. She also talks about the Silence of the Lambs (again, predictable,) and at one point uses Gumb's desire for surgery as an indication of his sincerity as a troon (I wonder what she'd have to say about the likes of DSP and Yaniv, who by this logic are also True and Honest troons.) She just blathers on about the numerous instances of trans panic in media in the 80s and 90s after that, not understanding that the gag is just as much a product of homophobia as it is troonphobia (arguably the former moreso, since normies back then didn't even seem to see a distinction between gay people and troons.)
Anyway, she starts closing the video by mischaracterizing concerns about male sex offenders being housed with women as "linking transess to crimes." She points out that "only" 7 of the 124 cases of sexual assault in prison were perpetrated by trans, which is just a fundamental misunderstanding of how math works. For one thing, rapes in prison are notoriously underreported, but setting that side, if troons are only .45% of the U.S. population, and they commit 5.6% (7 out of 124) of prison sexual assaults with a female victim, that's pretty goddamn disproportionate. That's more than ten times the amount of rape a group their size should theoretically be committing. As for how many incarcerated troons are in for sex offenses-- Lindsay's right that it's difficult to say, A) because prisons may have different definitions of trans and may not report that data at all and B) most sex offenders aren't in prison anyway. So really that's not currently a point of data either side can base an argument on. She goes on to say that MtFs are more likely to be sexually assaulted in prison than other types of inmate, which as far as I can tell is true. I'm not sure how men raping other men is TERFs' fault; once again, that's more indicative of homophobia and larger systemic issues with the penal system than it is transphobia, and it certainly doesn't mean MtFs should be placed with women. The sensible solution would be to house them with other male inmates at high risk of victimization, not to jeopardize the safety of women.
Gotta love how people like Lindsay characterize themselves as woke, and then blame women like Rowling for the injustices against troons committed chiefly by men. The majority of the movies she talks about are written, directed, and produced by men. The prisons are run and staffed mostly by men. The ones raping troons are mostly men. Yet somehow, all of this is the fault of TERFs, and not historic homophobia and mishandling of sexual violence.
