It's still possible to have an overintake of calories after WLS it's just more difficult. WLS isn't a quick fix and for Chantal it would just be a waste since she doesn't have the willpower or cognifivce function to follow medical restrictions or control her food intake.

It's also very easy to "eat around" the restriction caused by WLS. Simple carbs like breads, pastries, cakes, chips, etc., slide right through the sleeve or pouch. She'll still be able to eat all the ice cream, and drink all the 800 calorie-bomb Starbucks drinks to her heart's content.

That's why the majority of people regain (or don't lose) after WLS, stomach or pouch "stretching" is somewhat of a myth - although the RNY anastomoses can stretch and that's does happen when patients aren't compliant - and Chantal's would stretch for sure.

It's a moot point because she ain't getting WLS.

The thought of WLS being that magic fix is a big reason she continues to gain despite the continued health problems. I absolutely think she views it as a reset button, hit when she finally tires of eating, or gets to the point she's bed-bound.

In the meantime, she can continue to be that glutton because eventually WLS will save her.

Except it won't. She's never going to get WLS and only continue to gain at an absurd rate.

What's wild to me is that Chantal seems to have more medical problems than a lot of those who've been on My 600 Lbs Life. Look at how rapid her health has declined from the time she was 360 lbs just a few years ago to where she is now. I'd hate to see her medical state after putting on 50 more pounds - but I'm sure we're about to find out.
