Are you getting the vaccine? - Absolute trashfire thread, please enter with caution

However, the vast majority of people are vaccinated against those things, so your chance of catching it is near zero. Now if you are an antivaxxer, you could start community spread and kill people who are immunocompromised or sick, who weren't vaccinated. So in a way getting vaccinated is also altruistic.
There is no such thing as altruism.

if you are afraid of covid go get the vaccine, no problem
but why force it on other people? their body, their choice, no? don't even have the usual 'but think of the poor children who dont get vaccinated' argument either because apparently kids simply don't get serious symptoms from covid anyway

Except now we know the vaccine heavily reduces transmission. If it's not transmitted as much, it won't have as many chances to mutate.
Literally the opposite of how evolution works.

Because

If there's no selective pressure during transmission, it would reduce it a lot for sure. If there is some, it might still help. It won't make it go any faster than it does now, for sure. If there's an actual virologically confirmed strain that's nasty in another country, you can just seal it off while they figure out how to clean it out in that country.

I'm not going to trust some autist on kiwifarms, if you don't understand biology just say so. Tell me, if the virus stops having hosts to infect, how would that not reduce mutations?
Because population isolation and increased stresses create ideal conditions for new mutations to dominate the gene pool.
Even moreso in self-reproducing viri & bacteria.

their body, their choice
It's not their body their choice when grandma dies alone in the ICU because of the anti vaxxer who were too selfish to think about the common good of society.
It's not their body their choice when the virus ends up mutating and creating covid 2.0 because you didn't get the vaccine.
It's not their body their choice when your decisions directly impact all of us.

if you want grandma to live then get grandma herself vaccinated.

I am. I don't know why so many kiwis are skeptical about it, it's been tested and it reduces the possibility of you having severe covid. I don't have any preexisting conditions and I'm young and healthy but it's required for my work anyways.

If you're triggered about lockdowns, masks, you should be running to get the vaccine or else you're a hypocrite.
Yes, because a rushed vaccine, using a technique never before licensed for use in humans, to a virus used as a political tool, with trial results coming just 2 days after a presidential election, is nothing to be suspicious about.

When I can get my hands on J&J’s vaccine, I’ll get that one. Until then, no thanks.

Nope. I've already spent a year playing along with all their rules and we're still in this mess, and I know the same is for the lot of people. I've done my part, I don't see why they have the right to demand more out of me when the goverment has much more of a role in this getting out of hand then me.
