Are you getting the vaccine? - Absolute trashfire thread, please enter with caution

Evolution is accelerated by divides and micro-populations, not decelerated by it.
Its why like every river system in the Appalachians has its own minnow species, and the Galapagos Islands have so many different finches. Certain traits tend to dominate smaller, isolated populations faster than they do large, fluid ones.

But viri don't need a partner to mate with, this means that in isolated communities all it takes is a single advantageous mutation to arise and then said substrain/variant could quickly dominate the viral population in that locale.

Most sources admit the vaccine is non-sterilizing. Now of course its not a binary, so obviously an asymptomatic carrier isn't going to be spreading it as much as a symptomatic carrier; but its still not enough to outright put an end to viral transmission.
This is to say nothing of the fact that COVID has animal reservoirs.

This basically means that aggressively trying to vaccinate the population with a non-sterilizing vaccine is simply selecting for viral traits that allow it to spread in spite of vaccination/host immunity.
Which, given the claims that people who've had COVID can get it again and that despite being vaccinated you can still spread the virus, implies that such traits are likely already widespread in the population and this vaccination campaign is simply selecting for greater expression of such traits.
That's interesting, thank you. So much conflicting info out there. They really don't seem to know much.

All a vaccine does is present an antigen that the pathogen has to the body's immune system so that the body can develop memory B and T cells. This is how you can get immunity from being infected by something, but vaccines are suppose to be safer than getting infected and produce more memory cells. Now, if a pathogen can reinfect you like we have seen. The vaccine isn't going to do much to stop it. Fanatical Pragmatist mentioned that the vaccine will encourage evolution of the virus and they are right. Our body's immune system and parasites are in a constant evolutionary arms race to get ahead of the other. It's why one of the most successful vaccines for malaria has a success rate of around 50% and only lasts for a year or so. Malaria has both sexual and asexual reproduction depending on life stage, making it more likely to evolve than other unicellular parasites. This also makes it harder for our body's to combat it.

TBF Malaria is a eukaryotic parasite, meaning its closer to its hosts than it is viruses or bacteria.

Vaccines can be extremely successful if used properly, but it also depends on the target as well as the vaccine type.
Interestingly enough the best vaccine campaign was Smallpox, which was erradicated thanks to Vaccinia which is a serotype of poxvirus that is non-lethal to humans.
Basically we helped Vaccinia outcompete its sister species Variola.

It's hilarious how you go from "Listen fellas, I'm REALLY open minded", to immediately start slinging ad hominems with "The 'ANYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH ME IS AN ANTIVAXX HITLER LOVING MAGA QTARD' a child's guide to online arguments" when you get answers you don't like, then proceed to moralfag with "Y'ALL MURDERIN' MUH GRANNIES", and somehow not realize why you are getting treated like the dumb faggot you are.

Got my first rona vaccine this morning. Arm has been sore as shit all day, worse than a tetanus shot. The whole process where I got mine was a disorganized clusterfuck ran by the state health department and crawling with national guard which didn't inspire much confidence. If anything I probably got the virus while I was waiting to get the vaccine.

Here's a tip: rotate your arm continuously to reduce the pain

Okay, you got me there -- approved for emergency usage, not normal usage, but still, it's been approved the bureaucracy.

I'm not shaming anyone for not getting the vaccine. I think the reasons people are making that decision are mostly dumb, but yes, your body, your choice. I would never condone some draconian measure like forced vaccines on anyone. I just think it's retarded that people call me a bootlicker, dumb, because I don't immediately doubt all of the science and consensus backing it up.

I trust the experts more than I trust myself, because I never went to medical school/got the education they did. What's wrong with that?

I'm fine with outsourcing some of my health decisions to the people that know best, because I don't want to spend all my effort researching and fact-checking because I'm terrified of the 0.01% chance that my doctor is bullshitting me and is lying for his profit.
You claim you're not shaming anyone but you also use terms like antivaxxers or selfish to describe anyone ot wa ting it.

People like you are causing more harm than you realise. I cant wear a mask and have been told by my doctor I must not have the vaccine but triggering people who active you and use such spastic tier tactics make me actively happy about that, because damn, it's just so easy.

I got it at work in January. I was very ill the next day, and didn't feel right for a few days after that. I'll be due for my second shot soon and I'm not looking forward to it. My arm was very sore for about a week and the first night I barely slept because of the chills and shivering. I slept the entire next day, which meant missing work. I'd actually never had the flu or anything worse than a bad cold before, so the symptoms were really new and scary.

I've never had the coof and I've not been sick since the shot. I'd probably recommend others to get it for the public health benefit, but it's not a pleasant experience.

Sign ups for my tier in my state start in a week. Feeling pretty excited.

Also, there's a suspicious amount of people on the farms who are claiming that all their friends had bad reactions to it or missed work due to it. Not saying it's false, but from what I've seen, vast majority have little to no side effects. Even grandmas who are on deaths door are fine. So I'm not worried, and I hope you find a cure for this Vaccine Derangement Syndrome.

I care because of the selfish retards who wont take it the lockdowns will have to go on for longer, and I dont want to wear a mask in 2022.
>If you don't get injected with a substance approved by people who hate you, YOU'RE LITERALLY RUINING MY LIFE!
You know, there might be a reason why people are skeptical of the coof vaccines.

Why do doctors and scientists hate you? Sounds like that's a you problem.
Yeah, I was obviously talking about all doctors and scientists in general and not just ones working for the organizations involved in the research and approval processes.

On that note

The VA called today, asking if I wanted the covid shot.

I told them sure, if they'll admit the anthrax & southwest asia vaccines we got fucked me up first, on the record; then I'll let them pump me full of whatever.

I heard a click, and I don't think they'll ask me again.
