Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Holy fuck New Zealand.

They are locking down the entire city of Auckland for seven days due to ONE new positive COVID case.
What the fuck, New Zealand? Trying to make sure things are nice and clean for when the wealthy all move in in unison?
Not just from the oopsies one night stands, but from the relationships that would have started in the past 12 months but didn't because people can't get together and hang out.

We are either going to have a baby boom because of the lockdowns (as there are quite a few couples that live together without being married) or a decline rate that would shock even Japan (though that one is okay because of the massive import of illegals --who may or may not have frozen to death with the blizzard that blew through texas a couple weeks ago).
There may have been an increase in sex among couples living together, but there was no disruption to the supply of birth control, so that doesn't necessarily translate to an increase in births.

I miss connecting with random strangers.
This won't work for everyone, but here is something I've been doing as I travel for work. I stop at local gun stores and chat with the staff. I've been doing this for months now and no one has been wearing masks. You don't even have to know anything about guns. Tell them you're thinking about buying a handgun/rifle/shotgun for personal/home defense and ask for some recommendations that fit your budget. If you're personable and not a complete autist, you'd be surprised at where your conversation will end up. I asked about the ammo shortage at the last shop I visited and we ended up discussing the AT&T Long Lines network and telephony in general for about 30 minutes.

It's a myth that birth rates go up because couples are stuck at home with nothing better to do.

Economic uncertainty is associated with lower birth rates because kids are fucking expensive and most reasonable people choose not to have them when they know they might not have a job in 6 months. Italy's birth rate has dropped by 1/5 in the past year.

Honestly I am seeing two kinds of reaction around me when it comes to this shitshow.
Both are paranoid in nature but guess which one leads to happiness:
First you have the mask STASI, closed at home and actively snitching on everyone around them.
Second you have folks who are mistrustful of the government.

I personally ascribe to the second group and I will now explain why.
The italian government loves to cook the books.
Financial crisis: every contract no matter how short still counts as a person being gainfully employed for a year, you would have people working a day and still be counted as a +1 in the statistics.
Current crisis: all deaths are covid deaths.
Personal anecdote, step mom works as the director of a old folks home.
Old lady snaps her neck and dies, still counted as covid death by coroner because "We can't exclude covid as a cause."

So yeah, the government is not here to help.

First you have the mask STASI, closed at home and actively snitching on everyone around them.
I'd love to believe these people could be very happy since they don't feel trapped living under a government that's buying into lies and hysteria for ulterior motives and enforcing a China-style police state on us. All they need to do is hang onto Dr. Fauci and his Holy World of Science and soon it will all be over with a new normal even better than the old normal.

But then I realize that few people are more miserable like your average progressive liberal. They live in constant fear and paranoia they'll accidentally kill themselves or their grandma. They go through countless masks and gloves and gallons of hand sanitizer a week. And most of all, they have utter hatred in their hearts. They blame everything bad on those damn far-right conspiracy theorist Nazi science deniers. They genuinely believe that if it weren't for them and Trump, we'd have had a REAL lockdown nationwide (real lockdowns have never been tried BTW except maybe in China where it works) and then everyone would wear two masks and goggles for a few weeks and the pandemic would've ended last May or June. They have the exact same misery of having a year stolen from them the rest of us do, just they blame the people who don't follow The Science for it.

It's really sad when you have supposedly smart people blaming Billy Bob down the road for not wearing a mask for why he hasn't left his house or seen friends or family in person for almost a year. "If it weren't for you damn dirty SCIENCE HATERS I'd have my life back! Now put on a mask before I call your job to get you fired!"

so, whats the difference between this vaccine and the other vaccines?

Its like an arms race except on who can poison the people the most and get away with it.
Quick Update III
A small sliver of information has come to light about the resident who passed away after the 2nd shot of the Moderna "vaccine". This is interesting and smarter Kiwi autists here may know if these two pieces of information could have helped lead to the residents death.
First, the resident had Covid and had to be hospitalized about a month before receiving the first injection. This troubles me because my understanding is that if you have had Covid, the vaccine really isn't necessary. Don't you have antibodies from the infection making her not need the vaccine in the first place? Could the dangers potentially of this vaccine be worse if you have recently had Covid?
Finally, the resident had an interesting therapy that I don't fully understand where she had received plasma donation from a recovered Covid patient in an attempt to transfer antibodies. This again happened a couple weeks prior to her first Moderna injection.
They determined that is was best that she still immediately received the "vaccine". With the amount of antibodies she must have already had, any benefit from the vaccine must have been minimal.
Of course, we are being told that there is no connection between her death and the experimental vaccine she received less then 12 hours before her death.
I am very angry, and this death I think could have been avoided. At this point, the best way to stay healthy is to avoid being in the care of doctors or hospitals...clown world, honk honk!

Go back to traditional medicine where possible. There is a reason they have legally proofed themselves against any "malfunctions" of their vaccines, they know it, they know people like us know it so they are covering their tracks and preparing.

The Balbriggan woman who was arrested yesterday after breaking lockdown restrictions to reopen her beauty salon has said she does not regret her actions.

Christine McTiernan was arrested and brought to Balbriggan Garda station just before noon by gardai after she reopened her C&N Beauty Rooms for the second day in a row.

Despite being told by Gardai to close her salon on Tuesday morning, she reopened again yesterday and was arrested .

She was later brought to Swords District Court and now faces several charges in relation to the breaking of lockdown rules.

Gardaí say they were also investigating a demonstration that was held in Balbriggan at around the same time, where four men and three women were arrested in relation to the protest and alleged breaches of the Health Act.

Six of these arrests were dealt with by way of Fixed Penalty Notice.

Another person arrested, a man aged in his 50s, has been charged in relation to this incident.

Meanwhile Ms McTiernan faces another hearing on March 25.

“I was quite shocked at the number of gardai who arrived to arrest me,” she said.

“I’m five foot, I’m no threat to anybody and I’ve never been in trouble in my life with the guards, ever.

"It was shocking to see. If they thought I was that much of threat to have that many Gardai there, they would have handcuffed me, but they didn’t.

“I just walked out of the salon by myself and they gave me a few minutes to lock up.

“Now, they were lovely, the guards, they were very sympathetic and very respectful.

"They gave me a cup of tea and they sent out for biscuits for me.

"I was well looked at in the Garda station. They said they understood where I was coming from but that they had a job to do.”

Christine said today that she would not reopen the salon again until at least after the court date but added that she did not regret her actions.

“I’m back in court in March,” she said. “The main charge is for opening the salon against restrictions while the lockdown is going on.

"I had to sign (a form) to say I would not open again and if I did I would be arrested and I would be locked up. That’s what I was told.

“But I don’t regret taking a stand because I still stand by 100 per cent, that I still need to make a living. That hasn’t changed.

“But if anything, I hope it has brought some attention (to the fact) that the Government needs to help. If you’re not going to let me open my business to make a living and pay my bills, then help me.

“That’s the bottom line. If you want me to stay at home, then do something for me at least, and not just for me, for all the small business owners that are struggling.”

Christine said she has been overwhelmed by the support she has received from all over the country and even across the world.

“The support has been unreal, it really has,” she added.

“Somebody texted yesterday to say I was on the news in Canada. I never expected this level of attention but I appreciate it and I’m very grateful for the positive comments and well wishes that are coming in.

“The support has been unbelievable and from other small businesses as well,” she added.

“Some are saying we wish we had the guts to do the same as you and I understand people fear the unknown about what will happen if they reopen.

“I can say to other businesses that you will get arrested and you will go to court and you will probably end up having to pay a fine.

"But I don’t regret what I did. I was at the end of my tether, I really was.”

I stan this lady. 👏

Ireland has the third strictest lockdown in the world behind Cuba and Eritrea (human rights dictators) and it looks like they'll extend it further to the end of 2022. Fuck the Irish government, they're completely power mad.

She is a good example on how the lockdowns are putting us in an ultimatium, either we remain closed and go bankrupt or we risk it all and open.
Because guess what, our bills dont go into lockdown, the government doesnt give a FUCK and we gotta make money somehow!

They are literally not giving us any legal way of keeping honest work, then they wonder why are crimes skyrocketing...well maybe its because you have practically outlawed most honest methods of money making that doesnt involve sucking the dick of major corporations and serve them like a slave. I refuse to believe that this is all sheer incompetence, this is no doubt intentional AND planned.

For all the talk of empathy, they dont seem to really have any empathy for us business owners who just want to work hard and get rewarded for said honest work, you know, like the american dream that we were raised to believe in like a bunch of jackasses. I have seen some real disgusting shit coming out of bugmen's mouths, saying that our businesses dont matter.

Well, you disgusting cucked tranny dick sucking bugman, its not MY fault you are a lazy fuck that has no ambition and is more than happy to serve your mega corporation overlords. Its not MY fault you are a disgusting coward. Its not MY fault you have as much free will as a puppet.

We fucking earned this and they are killing us for it. They are killing us and people are celebrating!
this is retarded, A QR code on an mobile phone to prove your vaccinated? What happen to those who don't have it they can't go to restaurent? this is dumb

"Dont you guys have phones?"
-A cuck, probably

Daily reminder that you don't have to live with masks and lockdowns and ever changing emergency responses to a bad cold. For now you still have the freedom to move to states or areas that are open. It's been months, and South Dakota, Florida, and countless rural areas that never shutdown or had mask mandates are doing just fine.

I go to bars, I eat out, I get my hair cut, I go to large planned events. A few ppl wearing masks, but that's it, mostly friendly smiling people. Life is normal here.

Imagine the lawsuits against hospitals when this is over. I can imagine them getting sued for letting cancer patients die for focusing exclusively on corona and neglecting patients with their tik tok skits.
In Ireland, people can't even get vital cancer tests such as mammograms and they aren't even permitted to leave more than a few km from their own houses. It's really concerning because some of my family live there and they're really struggling at the moment. At least in the UK it's clearing up.

The 5km thing is window dressing, it's rarely enforced. If you're driving on a main road and haven't had the foresight to come up with an excuse ahead of time you might get turned back, but if you do have an excuse you're usually just waved through checkpoints without needing any proof of why you're travelling, and I've never seen any kind of checks on public transport. It's pretty easy to visit your friends or whatever if you just don't tell the guards that's what you're doing.

Branch Covidian locks her child in solitary because he maybe looked at a coofy kid that one time.

Enough Is Enough: Time to Finally Follow the Science on Masks

By Ted Noel, MD

Recently I was "fact checked" by PolitiFact for a demo I did showing that masks don't stop the spread of aerosols (longer one here, shorter one here). The reporter asked for my comments and then said what his narrative required, without regard for any scientific data. The list of CDC and Medscape information in the video description escaped his attention. He also completely ignored the fact that Anthony Fauci has flip-flopped on masks more than a fresh-caught fish on deck.
Scientists have been very busy. When the Wuhan Flu came to America, we were told to constantly bathe our hands in sanitizer. Now we know that very few cases are spread by contact, so constant hand-washing isn't necessary. That leaves droplets and aerosols. Unfortunately, many studies use arbitrary size criteria to distinguish between them, giving us confusing answers. A better distinction is that droplets are too heavy to stay suspended in the air, so they follow a spitball's trajectory to the floor. Aerosols can stay suspended for hours, much like cigarette smoke.

Masks work really well against spitballs — oops, droplets. These larger particles hit and stick. They don't get through. So if you cough or sneeze, your mask, handkerchief, or elbow will do a great job of protecting your neighbor. But what about aerosols? You emit them every time you breathe, and if your neighbor sniffs after you break wind, you emitted an aerosol there, too. (Incidentally, COVID-19 is present in sewage in high concentrations.) We have enough data to show that these smaller, airborne particles are the real culprit in COVID-19 spread. How good are masks against aerosols?

We've all run into that irritating person who screams that "you're going to kill someone!" if you take your mask off. Supposedly, my mask will protect that person from me. But that's only half of the question. Will my mask protect me from you as well? The questions seem to depend on how well the mask filters. So scientists have gotten very busy looking at filtration. One study shows that single-layer cloth masks are essentially worthless, letting over 90% of viruses through. Others claim great efficacy. What's a mother to do?

Our first problem is to simply look at the aerosol mask studies. Virtually all of them use a mechanical gadget to measure how much gets through a mask. That leads to us learning that more layers work better. Duh! You knew that from your house's air-conditioning filter. Higher MERV and HEPA filters reduce the dust in your house. They also reduce viruses. An astute student of the obvious would have guessed that a better filter would reduce the number of viruses that get through a mask. But what I showed wasn't about filtration.

It's not wrong to say that humanity will probably eventually strangle our planet and leave it either a lifeless husk or toxic revenant. The lockdowns have been quite good for nature and you can see how even this mild lockdown (yes, this is a very mild pandemic compared to what could happen) has done wonders for air pollution and animals.

On the other side of the coin, I predict that by this Summer there will be a mass rebellion with businesses opening despite lockdowns. It's either that or be strangled to death by the bureaucracy. People are fed up and locking everyone down except for those who are most vulnerable simply does not make sense anymore.

In Florida, which is where you should all move, there is absolutely no way any of this shit - even the little bit of shit we’ve been doing lol - lasts past May or so. Things are going too well.

Over the past 90 days we have:

Eaten in restaurants at least once a week - 100% capacity
Went to an event at a resort - 100% capacity
Basically done anything we wanted

If even Spring Break doesn’t lead to a “surge” then I don’t think we’ll be bothering with audience reduction at performances and events past April.

The silver lining to this story is that the 5yo and the 8yo brothers will probably form a stronger bond from here on out that will far outlast any bond to their psycho sheep mother

Humanity will destroy itself long before we destroy the planet (unless shit goes nuclear).
Its just a question of how many other species will survive us.

Its literally suspended vital management & monitoring programs though.
Finding seasonal work has been an outright bitch this past year, and even even looking through wildlife and fisheries job boards this time of year its bare-bones compared to 2018/2019 season.
Where funding hasn't dried up, functions are impaired by COVID restrictions and reducing staff hours/allowances.

Don't let the viral photos of deer walking around urban parks fool you.
