That requires a brain and some semblance of nuance and critical thinking and most of all a want and appreciation of the medium involved.

Dave has none of these things. He struggled to read in his MGS playthroughs and still blamed the games. Asking him to think is just too much.

I will occasionally watch some youtubers I like play obtuse stuff like paradox games or sometimes competitive stuff like LoL/Dota in the background, my wife does the same for Sims and Animal Crossing stuff, but the idea of sitting down on the couch WITH my wife to watch a playthrough of a game just seems really fucking weird to me.

I feel bad for him. This is a guy who loves fighting games and understandably feels torn about all the shit that's been going on. He's dedicated 7 years of his life contributing to EVO and encouraging others to get involved only for the people running it and half the community to be revealed as rapists and pedophiles.

You know, I was doing some Spring cleaning today and upon realizing that the money I had spent on my hobby could rather have been invested into Phil's gacha addiction, felt so unbelievably owned. To think that in lieu of using some of my disposable income for physical goods and/or services that bring me joy, I could have instead squandered it on a fat, ungrateful man-child gives me FOMO of the highest order.

Not on the default difficulty, one hit didn't get completely get rid of the armor and the second hit wasn't death..

This video reminds me of Phil's Friday the 13th on NES playthrough.

The AVGN played it and failed miserably. Phil somehow knew to constantly jump around because that mechanic made weapons and shit appear.

To me this says that Phil used to research games before he played them. Now he goes in blind and has no idea.

Watching AVGN play Friday, that's how a normal person would play. Walk around and fight zombies. Phil pops it in and starts jumping around like a retard. Why would someone do that unless they knew that you need to jump around randomly to find hidden weapons and items?

Phil has been reading guides for his entire "career". Except when he is too lazy.

I owned the title on NES, yes I'm that old, and the instructions hint at hidden items that can be revealed in that manner by counselors, to my best recollection. He could have read the instructions that came with the game and AVGN just threw a cartridge in there with no copy of them potentially? See for yourself. (Part 3 and 8 being the relevant obscure hint hints.)

I would be too. I'm not ashamed to admit that it does upset me a bit to see a asshole like him get rewarded. In some small way they kinda are owning the trolls. Every time they hit the tips goal, it means a happy dsp, and a happy dsp means a boring piggy to watch. People keep saying it's just a small number of paypigs who keep donating but that's all someone like him needs. These are his most loyal and die hard fans who've been with him for years, and they're going to be there for many more years to come. And even if some do leave the vortex, the vortex will just pull another paypig (like OIC) in to replace them, and the pig cycle will just continue on.

If you can learn to find the humor in both sides of him you can appreciate whether the ride ends or keeps going.

I mean, at this point 9 times out of 10 it's a whale and the whole thing is staged. And sure, Phil on the outside might be happy but internally I have to wonder if he even knows what happiness feels like anymore. Its like he needs something to bitch about to even feel normal.
