Aliens Fireteam

Yea no Idea why people keep bringing up colonial marines. So far the Studio is essentially unproven, but they have nothing negative to their name. The trailer pretty much confirms this is Left 4 Aliens, just like we are getting (not) Left 4 dead 3 and Left 4 40k. Its a relatively simple genre, not like they are being overly ambitious here.
I still remember when people were saying Alien's Colonial Marines was going to be Left 4 Aliens.

Have no worries, the devs confirmed bots and singleplayer. Even if the game is dead playerwise, you can still get the full experience.
Doubt it.

Have you played Left 4 Dead single player? Or Vermintide single player? Or Earthfall, Payday, Strange Brigade, Deathwing, any of these kinds of 4 player games? You can technically play them, but they're an empty shell when played single player.

Pretty sure they were judging that off of the multiplayer trailer for CM. In which, yeah, it was basically L4D. And that's okay. I heard the multiplayer for CM was actually good, largely because it was developed by a separate team.

It wasn't bad despite being buggy likely due to the lack of real QA testing which was apparent in single player. I only played a few rounds of it before getting bored with it, but it was pretty L4D like, or at least close enough to it to where if you were a decent hunter in L4D, you were likely going to at least be decent at playing the Xenos, since they operate similarly. It is impressive though that the team working on multiplayer managed to get at least passable content out despite everything around them being a shitshow.

The IP isn't cursed. There's tons of good Alien games:

Aliens for the arcade (made by Konami)
Alien Trilogy
Aliens Online (1998 and the first "games as service" multiplayer game)
Aliens: A comic Book Adventure.
Alien 3 The Gun (gun cabinet arcade game)
Alien Resurrection on Playstation
Aliens Thanatos Encounter
Aliens Infestation
ALL of the motherfucking AVP games aside from the one on the SNES/Game Boy and also Requiem on the PSP. Yes, AVP 2010 is still good and has a solid single player campaign.
Alien Isolation

WTF are you dumb fucks talking about this being a "cursed IP?"
It's retarded that people let one bad game taint this IP for them.

And it's why Isolation didn't sell as well as it should have and we'll probably never get a sequel, that game was in my opinion the greatest movie derived game of all time, never before had a game so made me feel like I stepped into the world of a movie.

Isolation still did well. Sold something like a million copies on launch. In it's lifetime over 3 million.

Not well enough for a sequel though (other than some phone game), in fact from what I understand the team behind the game has since left Creative Assembly.

Maybe we don't necessarily need a sequel, since the game nailed it so well, but I just wish the ending wasn't so abrupt, which implied to me that they had more they wanted to do.

What I would really love is to see that team tackle other movies like Blade Runner (which is referenced in Isolation) or Jurassic Park.

I hit Disagree but rescinded because I want to elaborate. I don't think the ending was 'abrupt' it just ended on a very annoying cliffhanger. I, and many other faggots, love the game and would easily consider it a masterpiece... However, it is not a flawless masterpiece. The human A.I. is dodgy, a little too much emphasis on combat/avoidance of synths and humans, some very obnoxiously long non-puzzles (looking at the one where you go outside the ship), and the game is just over-long. Everyone agrees that it should have ended shortly after the hive sequence (which was brilliantly done I think) but it kept going.

A sequel would be great but I think it would have been better served as DLC ala Minerva's Den for Bioshock 2 or Doom Eternal's Ancient Gods. But as we know, too little too late now.

I fear that a sequel, especially now, would be more of a traditional FPS which would really lose the point of the original game.
was there ever an effort to make that work in a modern era?

I know you can still play it but it's single player only now. It's pretty primitive by today's standards like the Aliens can't wall-walk or anything from the AvP games.

Oh yeah, the game definitely drags on for too long, I do remember that.

But cliff hanger is what I meant, I remember going "that's it?" when the game cut to credits, it needed more of a real ending.

The game is phenomenal but doesn't quite stick the landing sadly, what with ironically both dragging the ending out and then ending on a cliff hanger.

I mean, you can justify an ending by thinking that she died in the black hole of space and the company covered up her death. It's very plausible. How they would continue off of that in a sequel would be retarded. Does a passing craft happen to spot her -a tiny insignificant dot- in the void of space just before her air depletes? What about the chestbuster -Are they going to steal from Alien 3 and make it a Queen and that's why it took longer for it to burst out of her but have no fear they surgically removed it in time to start the outbreak all over again.

She survives
In aliens they tell ripley that her daughter is a live and comfortable on earth.

The company could have easily faked that, dude. Did Ripley see her body or her grave? No. Fuck, it's the year 2150 or so, you mean to tell me they couldn't use some future Photoshop to age someone? GTFO.

Why would they lie about that? As it is her daughter is like 60-70 at that point, and it would be believable to ripley that she is dead.
