I highly prefer the Loony toons show version of Lola because l ways thought Space Jam Lola was a weak character, not horrible one but weak. I don't think the issue was her looks or her not being strong and capable. She was very neat looking but was clearly there to fill the mandatory positive female role model and presented all the boring things about that trend. Don't get me wrong she isn't that bad, like you said she wasn't hateful towards men or masculinity and her design is very attractive to boys and girls. I just found her really dull and predictable. Unlike the male characters she had no real faults or big failures. While there were funny moments around her she wasn't the butt of those jokes or funny by herself. She was just a basic tomboy who was good at boy stuff, great at sassing all the doubters and just a nice love interest who isn't just on side because that would be problematic. Loved how she looked but I couldn't really like her as a character. To be fair but this character type just was hard sell for kiddy me. Possibly because I was more of a girly girl and at time was getting pretty tired that all strong women and girls in kids entertainment had to tomboys and often showed hatered towards traditional feminine traits and activities.
To show what I consider a strong female character I go with my favorite female tv character at time Hyacinth Bucket from Keeping up appearances. Kiddy me loved this show and it's characters and even still I find her be a great comedic character. Hyacinth is nuanced character and really funny. She is feminine, very openly and naturally feminine, but she isn't passive, passive aggressive at times but not passive. She knows what she wants and actively goes after her what she wants including asking others to help her, and these are the main reasons why she gets in trouble so often and why people around her are terrified of her. She is extremely confident and she clearly follows her own standards but she is delusional or in denial about some of her skills and relationships and she puts way too much value on doing things the right way and having the right things. Hyacinth has incredibly high expectations of herself and others, and so causes alot awkward situations because she has tendency of not letting things go when she wants something and she often wants something. People around her find her very annoying but usually what she asks just pointless or wierd. Despite all of her faults she is also polite, caring and helpful. She most of her hurtful behavior is unintentional, backfires and she does get called out regularly even if she doesn't seem to notice it. It's very easy to see why people try avoid her but also aren't that unfriendly when they end up dealing with her. She is handful but not unsympathetic, you can root against and for her and it serves the comedy so well.
