I could totally buy arin saying Ridley is female and not confusing it for something else. A lot of the lefty "X is trans/female/whatever" claims are just people confusing their cumbrain fantasies for progressiveness. Monster female on human male porn is pretty popular. "Wouldn't it be so epic and empowering if this random space dragon had a pussy for no reason?" is the same as somebody saying "Haha wouldn't it be such a funny joke if she took her shoes off and had like really stinky feet?" They're just horny, man.

Funny you say that since in today's episode, he begins speding 45 seconds apologizing for talking about Eddie Izzard (who trooned out but is cool with being called a dude still apparently) and slobbering girlcock/boypussy with "trans rights, respect trans, trans exist" bullshit. Not only do I doubt the GG audience knows who Izzard is I guarantee you nobody would've given two fucks and a walnut about it. Nobody worth caring about anyway.

Are you telling me there are really still people who genuinely after all these years of shady business tactics, lazy formulas and eye rolling behaviour that still sit and watch gamegrumps? Over other channels like oneyplays or whatever?

I’m sure there are both people who willingly ignore the obvious fake social justice act for the humour, but at what point do you move on to something more exciting? What is the objective appeal leftover for the audience? Are they just new watchers? Please help me understand because I really don’t want to believe people are this gullible and tasteless.

most gaming channels are legitimately not funny. and if they do happen to be funny it's because of good editing and focusing on moments while playing the game which are funny. There is a niche in the market for "gaming podcasts" which game grumps fills because 1. despite their continuing decline in comedy they still remain as some of the sharpest and most comedic minds on gaming youtube (not because they're particularly smart, because a lot of youtubers are retarded legit) and 2. because no one else does it.

if another channel which does what they do better enters the scene they may see a decline in their market share

Eddie Izzard is still a thing? All I remember about him is that someone at the rental store where I grew up really liked him and would order a bunch of Izzard's DVD to rent, but they only ever collected dust on the shelves.

He recently said people should carefully listen to what JK Rowling has to say because people went full spaghetti over her believing, for some reason, women shouldn’t have their skulls crushed in sports by men who say they’re women.
I have no idea how people reacted to him defending her.

I always felt bizarre watching his standup because when he walks up on stage dressed as a woman I always felt like he wasn’t really sure if it should be part of his comedic his act or not, and the audience probably couldn’t either. Uninformed people might sit there waiting for a punchline and never get it. His humour is pretty inoffensive and slipstick in traditional British style though, if you’re into that.

I also have to admit, for some reason I always thought Ridley was female too, until this thread. I think I read it somewhere when I was a little boy maybe? I remember being surprised about it.

I don't know when they officially named Ridley male (I think it was in Metroid Prime), but at least from the Super Metroid English Manual, they called him an "It"

Not sure if the Japanese manual in either Metroid or Super Metroid refers to him prior, but he's def been just called a monster and it naturally stemmed into him being male probably due to how we refer to bosses. We're so tuned into saying "Oh he was tough" even when it's something like a robot boss at times that I think we just made the concept ourselves.
