BTW, which one are you? I find it interesting how they'd be more ok with bull testicles than breasts on her. That and the penis monster (which I see as a nod to the penis festivals in Japan) got them riled up.

The Persona and Shin Megami series (where the designs come from) isn't porn though there are some rather mature themes in the games.

The point I was trying to get across that I might not be expressed clearly was that Kaneko does his research but may not always have his designs match 1:1 to the canon appearances of the actual diety. No pantheon is safe from this, not even Japanese (probably a bad time to tell them what a Mishaguji is).

One of them, but then most of the redraws aren't that anatomically correct. They either just cover the character up or make her more "tumblr friendly" AKA fat/average looking.

The tumblr used to be better with their redraws (they were better quality) and focused more on that stuff. But out of the four critique sites I know of (Escher Girls, Repair Her Armor, Bikini Armor Battle Damage and Make Me a Sandwich), they're the least bitchy.

Looking into the foray of people getting upset over Mara, love how they don't reference the name being the Japanese word for penis. Also like how one of the Bikini Armor Damage users (and one of the other users) gets a positive rating. Is it wrong to think her side may as well be an echo-chamber? As Mara and Shinto, wouldn't he in some way be syncritized into the Shinto religion or something?

While such a thing is possible, Mara is not a part of the Shinto pantheon. They got that part right, it's also irrelevant.

Considering the Tumblr said it was a porn comic, why would there need to be a debate on something that was created to be fapped to? It would be more understandable to do a redesign if this was a superhero comic that wasn't erotic images but since the comments point out it's a porn comic then what is the point? Also, doesn't this comment sound passive agressive in the first paragraph, starting with "when you comment here again"?

When you comment here again I hope you will consider the purpose of the blog and the commenting guidelines, specifically the ones regarding not trying to take it over and make it your own pulpit.

The blog is not about theories of composition or giving artists who botch anatomy pats on the back because you found a way to interpret their layout as significant, it's about showcasing trends in how women are represented in media like comics and video games.
