i'll be real with you, i don't know much about IQ ratings and how they work, like I know higher is better but I don't know what the average is or any of that.
however, I will tell you that I believe he has definitely gotten more stupid over the years for the simple reason of the stream chat hand holding him. I have a complicated hobby with programming. I used to have a friend who was good with programming, anytime I had a problem I'd ask the friend to solve it and he would. So I never had to think or try, then my friend went away, now all of a sudden I'm piecing shit together and figuring shit out and my skill level has vastly increased from when I depended on my friend.
phil is like that with stream chat, only stream chat isn't going away, anytime he gets stuck or can't figure something out, he doesn't think, he just leans over to stream chat and demands answers. Your brain is a muscle, and just like any muscle if you don't use it it gets weaker. I think he is absolutely dumber than when I first saw him because he doesn't even have to pretend to try to figure shit out on his own anymore, which traps him in this loop of just becoming more dependent and dumber as time goes on. I think if you took stream chat away he definitely would not be able to complete games that he did complete when he first started out on youtube.
"Average" is 100 IQ. Below average would be anything between 80 to 99. Above average similarly is in the 101 to 120 range. Anything above 121 and up is "gifted" as you approach genius levels (we don't need to splice those up for Phil though obviously, rainy day fund, after all.) but most importantly, 79 and below, means you're considered retarded. 0 is Hartley Hooligan pants shitting veggies in human form. 20 through 40 would be like barely verbal but knows their name (Timmy on South Park basically). 41 through 60 can sort glass and might know where they live (Jimmy on South Park potentially). 61 through 79 is CWC territory, easily naive and misled, more than willing to believe the dimensional merge is still on its way for reasons of stupidity. I could see high school DSP having a triple digit IQ that has degraded into double digits due to the decade of vidya game playing being his "adult" job and the chat always being there to feed responses for even simple puzzle boss solutions though like you're postulating, I just don't have the viewing legacy of him that you do to judge it as well.
I think if you sobered him up, put his glasses on him, sat him down at an IQ test, and told him Hulk Hogan was giving blowjobs to the high scorers, he'd probably clock in around 100. His deficiencies are just plain pig-ignorance, inattention, and laziness, not literally being unable to comprehend things.
He fucks up similes and allusions in speech enough to make me suspect he's in the below average range now and may have been for some time dating back to living on the east coast though. Fighting game techniques don't lend themselves well to scoring high on an intelligence quotient measurement after all...
Who do you niggos watch as far as restreamers? Tevin is pretty much out the game and LSB is too busy having a life unlike Phil, and I've never really looked for other options. Or are some of you sick enough to watch the raw, unedited khantent?
I've seen CWC's unclit, Yaniv and ADF's stink ditches and assorted executions at close range with firearms in my time here. Phil is annoying but not outright disgusting by comparison to that. I get the need for dramatization for comedic effect but at the end of the day, he's a dope playing a bunch of naive suckers for an endless no win scenario gambling fix, it's only offensive to my intellect, not my gut.
It's funny that this topic would come up. One thing that always struck me was how folks always spoke of the ways Phil is autistic. When I first started watching Phil, I didn't necessarily agree with the (semi-serious?) charge that he's on the spectrum (Powerlevel: Am an aspie myself.) He always struck me in videos such as his cup noodles review, for example, as simply being a really stupid individual-- I'd say closer to high-70s/low-80s in terms of IQ -- more than someone with autism. More specifically, he came off to me like the stereotypical clueless but well-meaning airhead everyone knew back in high school, with the exception that there was nothing remotely well-meaning about him. In his more recent videos, on the other hand, he comes off as perhaps marginally more intelligent, but his autistic tics -- whether due to his increased isolation from the world around him or other factors -- have grown more apparent. It's a weird juxtapositioning: he comes off as less overtly clueless in a traditional sense, but has simultaneously grown openly neurotic and toxic in a way that's even more off-putting.
Your response suggests it may be more a degradation of Phil's emotional intelligence more than his intellectual intelligence wasting away over his streaming career then. In my relatively short time watching him I could see the IQ being like 105 at high school graduation in the top range and now having slipped into the 85 or so range, which is a significant, even if it's not a completely disabling, loss of intellectual function. Phil seems like he was always emotionally stunted however, and has suffered a massive loss of that personality function though, "Why am I toxic," indeed?
