Some people ARE fine. But only a few are employed by Big Tech. Many are coasting on the finances propped up by several years of the Trump (TM) economy, even if they wont admit it. 2017-2019 was a really good time for the USA economically speaking, hell Americans saw the first increase in their purchasing power since 1971.
Then you have people spending the stimulus money on Amazon and trinkets, which congress has drug its feet on continuing now that bidens in.
That money isnt going to last forever, neither is the optimistic mindset. Eventually people will start tightening belts as their funds run dry, job opportunities stop coming in, pay cuts and hour reductions are implemented, ece. The entire economy is riding on a wave of optimism that things will go back to Normal soon, ignoring the growing debt bubbles the entire country is riding on right now. It will take several years for the effect of all that debt to hit full force.
Once that happens, many of the jobs that people are currently working from home, getting paid 2019 wages to do so, will disappear, and their spending
The real issue will not be a recession. They come and go. The real issue will be the lack of tools to fix anything. Interest is already basically nil, we're printing money and pumping debt bubbles. If THAT economy goes into recession there will be nothing the government could even try to stop it, and that kind of recession hits like a freight train. Asset prices are going to tumble after years of pumping.
I wouldnt want to be buying a house right about now.
