Does the original Space Jam hold up?

The same guy who sound Pepe la Pew was a rapist also tried to claim Speedy Gonzalez was offensive (again despite years ago many Hispanics coming out and making clear that they love Speedy Gonzalez).
Luckily Gabriel Iglesias (who is voicing the character in the movie) came to his defense. But what's funny about the tweet he calls out it by calling it (rightfully so) cancel culture. I found funny since the media been trying to say cancel culture doesn't exist and it's just a thing conservatives are making up because they lost the election. But I'm pretty sure Fluffy here isn't conservative. I don't think the media will be able to to hold this narrative for as long as they think.
Gabriel Iglesias is what happens when you let Carlos Mencia get away with stealing jokes that are not yours.

Oh no I'm aware he's a left leaning(granted not to bad compare to other celebrities). I was just pointing out he's not a conservative and how that ruins the news media attempts lately to portray cancel culture as not being real and are just conservatives being butthurt about losing the election.
I think it's just the result of them being mad and doubling down on "rape culture" which has repeatedly been called out as being bullshit since no one could prove there was such a thing. They're trying to pretend cancel culture isn't real when there's actual proof it's a hivemind mentality that's permeated media far longer than we think. The more people call it out (especially those who're with the crowd), the more they're going to flail about and hurt themselves.

Who's willing to bet Foghorn Leghorn will be called a white supremacist next because of his accent?
Yosemite Sam may be on the same chopping block because of his accent along with him using guns. And while Elmer Fudd's gun was taken away, did his speech impediment remain? Also will Porky Pig no longer have a stutter since that will probably be deemed offensive too?

Can't they just, I don't know, just have him not say "Boy"? Its not like Foghorn was sold on him saying it all the time.
"Non-binary individual, I say, non-binary individual! Didn't your mothers ever teach you not to fat shame around the pig pen?"
Its laughably ridiculous how far things have gotten when even the word "boy" is somehow offensive now.

James Gunn’s making that claim as well, despite, you know, being canceled a few years back for some shitty jokes he made on Twitter.

WB has been revising and "modernizing" Looney Tunes for the past 25 years. Adding characters, subtracting characters, whoring out characters for advertising and of course making them more "kid friendly" by de-weaponizing them. These changes aren't surprises but annoyances. that being said space jam was okay and i'll pirate the sequel.
A scene was cut that had Pepe la Pew(the only scene he was in) in which he was beat up and berated for being a perv...because they were afraid they would offend people by having him in the film at all.

Although this annoyance reeks of more convenience than PC shit. NYT was the one who uploaded the "opinion" piece and almost immediately after Pepe gets the boot (and tried getting my boy Speedy Gonzales again, fuck off will ya). But then Deadline reveals his scene was cut a while ago so the raised stink almost seemed like it was right on a schedule.

This was yet another publicity stunt. Stand by for the "if you see this movie you're a blankity blank" articles next.

If Gunn knows what's good for his wallet he'll shut up and do his job. I still say he fiddles kids and his twatter jokes weren't jokes by how straight they were played but time will tell (and hush money will run out).

I'm not shocked that James Gunn doesn't belive in cancel culture. All he got was a slap on the wrist.
I also wouldn't be shocked either if those tweets weren't jokes at all and he really did touch some kids.

Two things... One who's in favor of moving all these posts and anything else looney tunes related into a griefing mega thread?

Two remember when the first south park Christmas special (that aired in 1997 BTW) was meant to a satire of reality? And not a reflection of it?

When all those millenials cry how "space jam 2 is terrible and nothing like the space jam from my childhood " I'll have a swift reply of "hey you made it that way. " ready for the rebuttal

Not the South Park thread, but more evidence the show had a firmer grasp on culture 20 years ago than it does today.

Pepe lapew has been cancelled

"That fictional cat wasn't his gf! She was his unwilling target! [shakes head in shame]" (While ignoring the times Penelope chased Pepe or only rejected him because of skunk stank)
Its always the angry, unkempt, middle aged Karens who are always most upset about imaginary sexual harassment.

It’s because they’re jealous that no one would even desire to do that to them.
