CWCki Improvement Thread

For me personally, I agree with @champthom and @Flowerwall in terms of how I'd like the wiki to be written. Personally, I would write it so that it's fun to read while giving you plenty of information about Chris and what he's like, but not in such a way that it gives newbies and weens the wrong impression of Chris. Ditto for people to complain that Chris isn't the same striped shirt medallion-wearing guy he was from 2007 to 2010.

I wanted to make a post about something similar after reading a few other threads... Something like "Chris Tropes due for Retirement". Let me put it this way... If Chris got arrested today and thrown in jail, someone would likely post something along the lines of the following.

JULAYW33N said:
Yeah!!! How long until Chris is calling up Rocky and asking her to drop off AXE Body Spray so he doesn't have to use the showers?!?!?!"

Because -both- of those things got brought up in one of the recent Impulse-related threads like they were still relevant.

There is little to no evidence he still uses AXE (in fact, he's very vocal about the "Brittney Spears Perfume") and little evidence he is still in touch with Rocky (at least in a way where Rocky is trying to "help" Chris as was the case in the past). I think these kinds of things could be coming from the CWCki, which, as people have mentioned, is generally stuck in a past when both AXE and Rocky were more major players in Chris' life.

Perhaps there needs to be some kind of banner along the tops of pages that warn of outdated content. Perhaps something like "This article is stuck in the Time Void and it's contents may no longer be accurate" and maybe room for a reason that notice is there ("Chris hasn't mentioned Rocky since late 20xx.") This would help preserve the "history" of the articles while informing new people reading through the wiki that they can't be accepted as fact anymore.

I think we should leave the old articles as the are, but than add clarifications to the end of the page.

So that we still preserve the old stuff for prosperity, but clarify the new developments under it. The CWC wiki is funny, and that funny should not be edited just because people suddenly find its wrong to troll him.

This page is a good example of how it should be, with the new tomgirl stuff added in separate parts.

Interesting idea, but I wouldn't do it. There's also a reason why trolling isn't encouraged anymore, and the Wiki not reflecting the forums' new policy on trolling isn't a good thing. And just because you add new infomation or having a new policy on trolling doesn't mean you can't make it fun to read.

(P.S: I'm surprised people in this thread are so concerned with preserving the articles as they are, considering that older versions of the articles are in the View History tab at the top.)

The CWCwiki should not be a whiteknighting center. It is there so people can laugh at Chris's antics.

I don't think that the CWCki is written in stone and we have some duty to preserve the articles as they once were. Just because they're old doesn't necessarily mean they're better or in some cases, correct. As I've said, some people have an attitude of "don't fuck with success" except it's at a point where it's hard to separate actual good, factual analysis from A-Logesque type comments. It should be a living organism that's constantly changing and evolving. I created most of the main articles on the page and in most cases, it was stuff I took from the original ED page and I spruced it up over time. I'm not offended if someone decides to rewrite articles to reflect what we now know about Chris. My issue is when someone might come along and decide to do something like rewrite the Chris article to suggest that Chris is actually an alien lizard person that's part of the larger lizard person conspiracy to distract us from larger issues. A bit dramatic but I have seen people try and dramatically rewrite articles to fit their own little agenda.

It might be useful to maybe try and start from scratch and totally rewrite important articles.

I think it would be nice as a giggle to bring artists back in to brighten up a few of the more longer winded articles that have little to no pictures on them. I've always enjoyed artists renditions of things on the pages where there's no tangible visual evidence and no particular need for specific organization that would only cause unnecessary clutter. It's not needed of course, but Chris is a colorful person and a lot of the silly art reflected that and added more fun to longer articles.

So, we could probably use a centralized thread for discussing cwcki improvements.

I'm pretty lazy, so I probably won't be doing much of that myself. But, anyway, here it is.

We started discussing the topic a little in random thoughts here and here.

Mainly just we need this to be updated

Necro-ing this thread. Sorry @Hellblazer

What pics do you want? Mainly Christorical locations. I can get this stuff you just gotta ask. I'll even get @heyyyJackiePie to photograph since he's a way better photographer than me.

Also I'd like to see a page that chronicles the condition of 14BLC with pictures.

Necroposting is only bad if it's irrelevant nonsense, or a thread that was shit to begin with.

I wouldn't say the CWCki's quite as bad as some are making it out to be. I do think a few of the other regulars tend to word things in a weird, vaguely autistic way, but beyond that, no real problems as far as I can see.

I've been making extensive efforts to rewrite quite a few articles (particularly White knighting, Weening, Alogging and Chris and... articles) to bring them up to speed since I joined, and as far as I can see, others have been doing the same elsewhere on the wiki. Someone talked about an old gag about Chris's hairline a few pages back, which I've also amended. Really, we just need to keep doing what we're doing, and the CWCki will be fine.

The 14 BC page is actually very comprehensive. I would focus on the other Christorical locations such as the nearby McDonalds' locations and the various stores he's been banned from.
Is there any reason we need pictures of those exact locations, though? I mean, a McDonald's is a McDonald's. Maybe if it's just on the outside, but I think other than that, it's not useful enough to justify the inherent creepiness of the action.
