The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they will step back as "senior" royals and work to become financially independent.

In a statement, Prince Harry and Meghan also said they plan to split their time between the UK and North America.

The BBC understands no other royal - including the Queen or Prince William - was consulted before the statement and Buckingham Palace is "disappointed".

Senior royals are understood to be "hurt" by the announcement.

In their unexpected statement on Wednesday, also posted on their Instagram page, the couple said they made the decision "after many months of reflection and internal discussions".

"We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."

They said they plan to balance their time between the UK and North America while "continuing to honour our duty to the Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages".

"This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity."

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said discussions with the duke and duchess on their decision to step back were "at an early stage", adding: "We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through."

The couple's announcement on Wednesday comes two months after the Duke of York withdrew from public life after a BBC interview about his ties to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who killed himself in August.

Charlie Hebdo is a in this case Jewish publication aimed at pissing on the enemy (muslims) and instigating rifts between different groups of more native people so that one day when all are fighting they can divide the spoils.
All under the name of "humor".
Nothing French nor funny about it.
I disagree. I like what they do, cause the divide even more as most people eat it up anyway.

Good Morning Britain loses 300,000 viewers after Piers Morgan quit as petition calling for him to be reinstated on show hits 227,000.
She's so vile that she made people side with arch-slimeball Piers Moron.

I'd quite happily see them both pilloried, but by god if I had to pick between them, I'd take Piers. At least he can take one on the chin.

Going back a generation or so: Edwina Mountbatten (wife of Charles's beloved uncle / father figure) had an affair with Nehru.
Wasn't Lord Mountbatten a notorious homo? I seem to recall some FBI files coming out a few years ago that had some tidbits about "Lord Mountbottom" frequenting a brothel in Egypt that specialized in underage boys. He had some sort of fetish for underage boys dressed in little sailor suits or school uniforms. He wasn't particular, though, he'd apparently stick his dick in anyone who happened to be nearby, male or female.

Sounds pretty French to me.

If you're in a serious relationship with someone from a different country, even if they're not royalty, you'd think it'd be common sense to go out of your way to learn at least the basics of that country regardless. Jesus Meghan, it's not that hard.
“God Save the Queen” is to the same melody as “America (My Country ‘Tis of Thee)” a song pretty much every American learns in kindergarten.

And if you can't remember the exact words even after you've memorized them, keep your head down and sing "watermelon." No one will know the difference.

has this been addressed yet?
I't s addressed constantly and I still don't see what's the problem with it. It's a costume. More people should be making fun of nazis, not otherwise. It looks like they have respect for them.

She actually hoped that she could sashay herself into being Queen because #blackgirlmagic or some shit. She assumed the rules of royal succession wouldn’t apply if she called everyone a racist. Once she found out she couldn’t just shame her way to the top, she took her toys and stomped home. She very much hates the situation she is in but there’s no exit that doesn’t make her look like the conniving, bitter cunt she is. Not to mention all of her new celebrity pals will stop picking up the phone and all those lavish deals she made with the media will get canceled. The rest of her wretched life is going to be one giant tantrum.

Has any relevant celebrity has come out to her defence? Because, going against the Queen of England can be seen as a bad PR move for some. Specially for the Brits.

Fury as Charlie Hebdo magazine cover shows Queen kneeling on Meghan Markle's neck in recreation of George Floyd's death

Remember goys it's humor. Not divisive at all.
Red pills all around.
I've seen so many /pol/ meme edits of Floyd getting kneeled on it's really hard for me to not see it as some subtle shitpost. Which, based if true and they're absolute madlads.

Not gonna lie, that image made me chuckle.

It's easy to forget when watching a predator do her thing and cry victim as she does it that the royal family are far from a perfect bunch of angels, and they are absolutely going to war over this (being called racist) in the grand tradition of squabbles between elites.
