but reddit told me microcenter was supposed to be keanu reeves epic big chungus 100
When I went there in the mid 10's to build my first PC, it was a very pleasant experience. Everyone was very helpful and recommended even better alternatives if they didn't have an item on my list. It's quite foolish to expect a business to not do business things, though. Nepotism included. The guy that recommended I get a Supernova G2 was not doing it out of the kindness of his heart.

My advice to anyone considering dropping a large sum of cash is to just jump straight to the 3090's. Because the MSRP is so high, the competition is much smaller to get one when they drop at BB and the like. With scalper prices for more affordable cards going so high, MSRP 3090's are almost a good deal, I see scalpers selling 3070's for those prices. I ended up biting the bullet and buying one at the latest BB drop with relative ease. I could've bought 2 even. If you aren't willing to drop the money then don't, but if you've really need a gpu right now or are willing to spend some money, you're alot better off hopping on the 3090's than buying a scalped , weaker, card for the same price.

You must be one lucky fuck to see an MSRP 3090, because even in retail they're going for 1.8-2k because of tariffs and 3-5k because of scalpers. And there's going to be a shortage of 3080s and 3090s because I'm feeling NVIDIA has some production problems.

I got an FE that I'm picking up on thursday, and there was an EVGA one that I had in my cart that I didn't buy because I had the FE ordered already. They're not super available, but they're significantly easier to get than 3080's and the like if you're quick. NVIDIA definitely has production issues right now, but you have much better chances of getting a 3090 than any of the other Ampere cards. I'll also add that Best Buy seems to be the best retailer as well. Amazon cancelled my 3080 order a couple months ago, and microcenter has giant lines with inconsistent shipment times for in person shopping.

Since this is more about LTT and GPU's rather than crypto, and isn't big enough to have it's own thread, I think this will be a good place for it.

Not too long ago, Linus Sebastian made 3 videos about a solid gold Xbox controller that costed him 69,000USD in total, which is definitely a major spend. And as you might know, another crypto boom happened and all the GPU's on the market, including the newest, most powerful models people crave for gaming, are basically gone, bought out by scalpers and crypto miners. And Linus has kept yapping about he hates the miners and that he is #teamgamers or some other gay shit like that, he also bashed Nvidia for creating a lineup of GPU's dedicated only for crypto mining that will become e-waste right after the crypto boom ends.

Then he released this video:
Which is basically an 8 minute ad for a crypto mining company which has been cofounded by Matjaž Škorjanc, a man that has created malware stealing bank accounts, and who has been arrested multiple times for his cybercriminal past. NiceHash also seems to pocket a lot of BTC mined by people, which is also a pretty shady thing to do. So not only did Linus turned out to be a massive hypocrite due to his chase for money, he also went ahead and took money from a really fucking shady company to promote them to over ten million of his subscribers. And his fans aren't putting up with this shit either.

I have archived the video in question, along with all the thumbnails, subtitles and description, but it is too big to attach to this post, so I've uploaded it to Anonfiles. If anything I'll keep a copy on my disk for eventual reupload.

I was going to say that the EU might not be hit as hard. It will be the normal EU exchange rate of one dollar = 1 euro, except if you're buying an Xbox because MS is surprisingly nice unlike Sony.

The cheapest listing(not in stock) of 3090 is 18,990 SEK which is almost exactly €1899 and includes 25% VAT and that's not that crazy. 1,499 MSRP plus 25% VAT equals 1873. They don't have anything in stock though, not even GT730, only 1GB 710's. Horrifying at first but gaming on a 710 could be a good 90's style learning experience for kids. How much of the graphics and resolution can be tweaked and sacrificed to make a game playable.

Looking at one of my favorite online and physical stores I see that they have a shit ton of Ryzen 7 5800X processors for €499 which is extremely reasonable right now compared to Amazon that sells a bundle of a 1600X, 4GB DDR4(not a typo) and a motherboard for €649.

There's also plenty of Ryzen 5 and 7 from the 3000 series, going from the 3600 up to the 3950X.

Recomped. edit: It's too small in the embedded player but everything is perfectly readable if popped out.

5600X has the best value. I wanted to have SUPAR GAMING PCMAN and upgrade to the 5900X but the gains aren't worth it and apparently everything above the 5600X runs hot. Even with my Noctuna cooler it runs at 80 degrees playing games. I can't imagine buying one of the hotter CPUs.
The heat wouldnt really be an issue. Cooling ryzen 5000 in general has the same issue as the 3000s, that being heat density. The cooler itself is not the limitation, rather transferring heat from the die is, so having two dies wont really change the temperature of either die.

I had my suspicions about Mr Sebastian when he unironically insisted on smearing RGB on every conceivable part of his build, but I think this is one to miss from here on in. Also, that beard and that hat are symptomatic of something, and I think we're only just seeing what.

I used to watch videos here and there in the past but the shilling became too much. Sure, he doesn't step into direct cash bribery territory when showing off someones new product in exclusive previews but it reminds me of old vidya magazine previews that were always hyping a game when they got an exclusive, then three months later they review it and it's complete garbage. They knew that three months ago. It's like they're (partially) trying to be similar to Top Gear, entertainment and not consumer advice, but they're not funny or entertaining. And the really fat guy needs to shave his head, he doesn't have enough hair to justify having hair on his head, it's really distracting.

Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed(who got shadowbanned on youtube for unknown reasons) is pretty much all a sperg needs, they also have pleasant voices unlike Linus. GN is rock solid in the ethics department and I haven't gotten the impression that HU is doing anything shady.

As for the fat guy, Anthony, I'm disappointed that he's working at LTT and only gets occasional appearances on the videos, because he's the most talented and knowledgeable person in that company, and he would definitely do great as an independent creator, but his contract with LMG restricts his ability to do so.

Everytime someone mentions Linus, it takes me back 10 years ago when I first got into the PC hobby. Firing Squad, 3DGameMan, and Prolimatech were all relevant back then.

GN is solid though. They're my current choice for reviews and news.

He obviously knows how to do his research, dig up information, solve problems, put it all together and get things running for a video. But that hair...
