She flat out lied about seeing a therapist. This is a woman who is incapable of telling the truth; she's so fucked in the head that she probably doesn't know what the truth is.
Months ago, she had a therapy appointment by telehealth. They agreed to talk on a regular schedule, which Chins cancelled repeatedly. Probably didn't notify the therapist. Then she calls again in a down moment, but the therapist won’t make room unless she pays in advance and then will only give her whatever timeslot is free, likely at least until Chins shows commitment, which will be never. So no therapist, as she might get 9 am times when she's sleeping.
Then she has the gall to complain about Canada’s mental health system. She HAD appointments but didn't show. How good it is or is not means nothing since she was one who could have been evaluated. Even if the therapist wasn't qualified to diagnose with any diseases,, he or she could likely have referred Chantel to somebody who could, but she blew it off.
What she doesn't get about her little speil about putting moral value on foods is a) she hasn't, she's always eaten as much as she wanted and the moral value is part of the fun, and b) once you get to diabetes and other health problems, there is no choice but to judge foods as bad for you or not. She is stuck on the idea of having an eating disorder, when she's way past that. Her disorder isn't important now, she has to eat right to save her life.
Also, there are two types of addiction: behavioral, and physical. Changes. Addiction is behavioral. This is the fun moral value part: She likes going out to get foods, she likes the idea that some are ”bad” but she still can eat it”, she enjoys getting something over on everybody else. (a good example is when she tried to slam a sundae when Peetz was upstairs with the camera but she got caught). Had she finished that sundae she’d have been pretty proud of herself, and she's been stealing food all her life. She even likes this game of telling people she's trying when she isn't.
(This is why I'm not certain her mom spoiled her. It seems that Chins was told no, quite often, so she stole and snuck food, got two lunches at school, traded her sexuality for burgers, etc. It was harder to get so her rebellious little heart did was it needed to for an extra cookie, and became part of the game.)
But if she was committed to an inpatient ward and given no fast food, she would not have withdrawals from the food. In fact, I'm pretty sure she'd start to feel better physically almost immediately. Her blood pressure would drop, her gut could heal, she’d have more energy. But she’d have a lot of distress with the cope part. She’d be craving fast food because she couldn't have it and her games wouldn't work. Her entire life of sneakyness and lies would be rendered ineffective and it would be a while to get over it. She night interpret that as withdrawals, but it isn't.
A heroin addict has similar games but not for the same reason. They get pretty fucking sick when off their drug. It takes months for their brains to normalize and them to feel better, where in Chins case her body would recover quickly. Not her mind though.
She's way too fucked to do this on her own. She has to eat 1800 calories a day and count every one, and stop sneaking. Impossible.
