Re: older hololive members having a different contract, it's cause the company wasn't even sure this whole virtual youtuber thing was going to work out well back then. Suisei and Miko, for example, are actually outside talent that got to keep their models when they joined Hololive, which is something that would never happen these days. I might be misremembering, but I don't think the earliest four were even advertised as being part of Hololive at first.

I think Suisei actually still holds the rights to her character, while Roboco sold hers to the company.

Gen 0th were beta testers performer and Gen 1th were like performers shilling the software, the result was people more interested in the girls than the software and here we are with a group full of comedians that in some days they sing

I still remember matsuri surprised because she believed she had to pay for her model and to perform and instead got paid for being a degenerate on stream

Which makes it more impressive knowing how many of the girls opt to solo queue and manage to perform as well as they do. Any game with established metas are gonna be rife with curb-stomping. Just like in fighting games, you only get good enough to avoid regularly getting stomped by playing a fuck ton and tasting that defeat until it becomes stale.

To be frank, when someone mentioned the whole virtual idol concept to me, the only thing that popped on my head was Sharon Apple from Macross Plus (human feeds her emotions to an insane AI which is holographically projected on a 360 3D stage, thousands watching).

Do I like the boing-boing comedian anime girls better? I think so. I don't watch anime anymore but I'm not into OF/twitch thots and screen cumbags. The tradeoff where we get to enjoy a show for what an actress or singer can do, rather than how she looks, is alright I think.

Maybe one day we will attend a live concert and Kanata will dance Souran Bushi on a 360 projection while an insane AI tries to kill dashing protagonist in prototype variable fighter-mech.

*There is a weird incongruence because we Latin-Americans GOT Macross with the original name and the original songs without any americanization, there are generations still confused as for why this is the case, there are people that remember more Hikaru Ichijo and not Rick Hunter, and iirc america got a legit release of Macross Zero, we Venezuelans got Macross from Japan in Public TV and no Robotech but there were public tv stations that broadcasted Robotech instead, is a weird oddity, even the dub is the same but they use the japanese names

They are the culprit of "The Macross Struggle" back in the day, for context, fansubbers were fucking e-wankers that wanted to put the most showy thing imaginable for no reason that bragging rights, the problem with macross is that IS FULL OF SONGS, so there were place that outright dropped or could not follow the fast release schedules because of how hard it was to put karaokes, they were not easy for the translators because they had to do it mostly by ear (i got a guy that almost ragequitted trying to translate Aimo until he noticed that the first part is not japanese), granted blu rays version got better translation because for that time the singles were already out and you get the lyrics printed on the disc, btw this exclusively happened to Frontier and Delta, the old ones got somehow under the radar of harmony bitches and got a release except 7
