It's so strange to me following this thread, mostly out of habit now, while living in an open non-mask state where things are back to normal and have been for months. Reading about all the doom and gloom still dominating life for millions of Americans in other less fortunate states. You guys are like a soap opera that doesn't quite seem real anymore.

I don't understand how the powers that be are sustaining this, especially now that so many other states are shrugging off the crazy. Am I being optimistic in thinking that there will only be pockets of the crazy left in a few blue states come a month from now? Too many dominoes have fallen already imo, but what do I know.

There are two tracks of thought going on.

Track 1: Trump repudiation, i.e. "Believe in le science!!! Lockdowns work! Destroy the economy! Lose your house, pleb! This is all Trump's fault, once he's gone things can go back to normal!"

Track 2: Vaccination love, i.e. "We need vaccines to survive! Only when people are vaccinated can life return to normal! If a large portion of the population isn't vaccinated then you can't do anything!"

Those two tracks were parallel between March 2020 and January of 2021. But once we hit the million vaccinations/day mark, those tracks became opposed. There's a dissonance that's created when people see that there are 2-3 million vaccinations/day going on and that states are still maintaining absurd restrictions. At some point that dissonance will reach a breaking point where even normies will begin thinking how the hell they can still be pushing restrictions when so many people are vaccinated. You're already starting to see it, even in places that are wretched hives of scum like reddit. I give it until 50% of the adult population is vaccinated when that dissonance becomes too great to maintain. Maybe I'm optimistic, but that seems like around Memorial Day to me.

That's what just about everyone on this website would recommend. There's video of her the week following the shot. She's posted a few times on social media after that. Literally nobody in her personal life is saying anything other than that she's alive and well and to stop haranguing her. Plenty of people have died after vaccines and had it openly reported on, why the fuck would there be a giant, elaborate conspiracy for this one nurse that nobody but you guys even remembers anymore?

I felt like being honest was worse in that situation, since the pressure to be vaccinated at work is a real thing. Where is the printable .pdf of the CDC vaccination card that's floating around? The idea that COVID isn't as deadly as they believe will never been a consideration. Hell, they want it to be MORE deadly just to prove the "alt-right Nazis" wrong.

So my state is opening up vaccines to all adults 18+ years old, I guess because old people who want it have pretty much gotten theirs already so there are a lot of doses just sitting around. My dad immediately called me as soon as he heard and asked if I was going to get a shot now, and he got flustered when I said that I didn't see the point. I already had the coof, I've got the antibodies to show it, so what more would a vaccine do that my body hasn't already done? I mean, he knows how vaccines work, it's not like they're injecting you with virus-killing superdrugs or anything, it's just training your immune system on a weaker version so you get resistance without the normal effects. It's likely that resistance will wear off eventually like other colds/flu viruses, but by then the coof will hopefully have mutated into something less serious and blend into the background of other cold viruses.

Then he tried to guilt trip me into getting the shot so that things can go back to normal faster, and he claimed that our fellow church members won't want to be around me if I'm not vaccinated. Aside from just being really disgusting that he's trying to manipulate me like that, and aside from the fact that apparently vaccines won't even let us go back to normal per the CDC (so really what's the point), what business is it of anyone else's if I've gotten a shot? I can easily just lie and they'd be none the wiser anyway. And since when did the health and wellbeing of literally every other person out there become my responsibility? I get a flu shot every year, but I don't do that for anyone but myself. I have never once thought "man, it's so good that I'm getting a flu shot so that other people don't get sick" when I get flu shots. Selfish? Sure, but so what? I'm responsible for myself just as everyone else is responsible for themselves.

He'll probably keep bugging me about it until I cave because he can never handle things not going his way, but I may just lie and pretend I got it so he'll shut up. Saved that blank card template since I just know he'd want to see the record, I'll probably have to make a fake myself.

Word is the dose is too high. They basically maxed out the dosage in trials, pushing it as high as they could while keeping side effects within a certain threshold, and then used that dose for the actual vaccination run. One shot is basically enough, especially since the only thing the vaccine does is minimize severe symptoms/reactions to actual coof.
