The filibuster allows a Senator to talk a bill to death unless 3/5 of the Senate votes to shut him up. It's good for moderating the more insane bills and forcing a degree of bipartisanship. It's bad if you have a slim majority and you want to pass insane bills.

I'm probably overly optimistic, but in upcoming elections, I'm hoping that people are going to be actively looking for and doing something about the 2020 tactics.
They'd obviously been planning this shit on a local level for quite a while and finally had enough die-hard party loyalist "Volunteers" to put it into action this time.
The biggest issue is that there's "No evidence" because the GOP was both caught off-guard and were utterly cucked.
They let their observers get kicked out, let the windows get barricaded, let the indoor cameras get turned off/erased, and so on. Their only response was have their local, outnumbered GOP volunteers throw hissy fits and watch from a distance.
The most anyone could do was guerrilla-style recording from the streets outside with cell phone cameras. For a "Transparent and secure" election to let a single party lockdown ballot-counting operations like that is insane.
By the time there was any serious call of shennanigans, their opponents had already had time to mix their bogus ballots in with legit ones, permanently tainting the results while also making it impossible to investigate.
And being allowed to lock down the building completely unchallenged let them have plenty of time to get rid of any physical and digital evidence.
When you know you can blatantly cheat and the worst your opponent will do is call you a cheater while letting you still have the win...why wouldn't you cheat?
