What is it about these white backgrounds that screams lazy to me?

That cover is so horribly put together. Aside from the main figure being so strange, the thoughtless placement of the title logo so that most of "America" is obscured really fucks with your eyes. There's all that dead space underneath the MARVEL logo...surely they could have slid the title over so that we could read more of it, and reduced Cap in size by 5%.

That said, I like white covers with just a simple illustration on them sometimes. It's a visual relief.

Al Williamson worked with Frazetta & Roy Krenkel. He drew Flash Gordon. He drew the Star Wars newspaper strip with Archie mother fucking Goodwin, and the Marvel adaptation of The Empire Strikes Back. He inked JRJr on Daredevil for years.

Just when I thought I was out... they pull me right back in. Checked out for a while and came back to a new slew of comments. Most of Donal's replies are people he's duped (either intentionally or not) into thinking that Anthony Figaro has traced Mad's art. Despite the fact that even a cursory glance at the artwork would tell you it's obviously not traced, this batch of helmet kids was quick to rally behind Donal's valiant cause and to cast out the "grifter" who's trying to sell traced artwork. This is unbelievable. We've got a couple of notable exceptions here, with Cyborg Valkyrie and Preston Acevedo calling Donal out on his bullshit. Donal also says that he never claimed the picture was a tracing, which is true, but he certainly let enough people believe that without making any effort to correct them. He says Figaro "changed the lighting"... no, retard. He drew original images that were clearly inspired by Mad's style, as Acevedo points out. Sorry I didn't like your book, Preston. Please hire a writer and editor.

Donal actually seems to believe that the issue is "people don't care" that art is being swiped, as he states in my previous post's screenshot. Missing the point entirely, he doesn't realize that the issue is his flimsy accusation that he utterly refused to corroborate with any further comparison images.

Several dipshits from WC have jumped into these threads and run their usual lamentations of CG's unspoken anti-criticism rules, joining Donal and his mob in missing the point. We even get a special appearance from TUG, who appears to be curious as to whom the nefarious tracer may be. If someone as dumb as TUG with as big of a platform as he has decided to run with this fake news, that could truly fuck over this campaign. However, considering this doesn't concern Amber Heard, I'm sure there's nothing to worry about.

I thought for some reason that CG was against hate mobs being spurred on by willful misinformation, but here we are. Our favorite cuck wishes he was "2018 Donal" again so he could call out these artistic crimes with righteous indignation and fervor. But alas, he is held to the standards of a "professional," as we all know Donal to be. Wonder how today's bowel movement was.

I know @FROG won't want to cast aspersions on the artist of Cecil's book, but I would love to hear some input from an actual artist on this issue. And from someone who touts CG ideals.

I’m not getting involved in bullshit like this ever again. I think that when I do weigh in about retarded slap fights, it encourages more of them, and turns more people against me.

I will just say Donal should get back to work, so he can deliver on his multiple obligations.

Regarding the Lily manga, I always do in-betweener books that show the big story from another characters perspective. Lily takes a journey in REKT PLANET that could certainly be expounded upon, and it looks great in this style. Jose Garcia is an impressive manga artist, so he’s hired. I think it’ll turn out cool. If people really like it, we’ll do more.

I'm an artist and I think Donal should shut his fucking mouth and fulfill his fucking book. Who gives a shit if the art is derivative (which I don't think it necessarily is)? Who gives a shit if it's even traced, are we 4 year old twin brothers fighting for mom's affection with our fucking finger paints out here? I'm gonna drop a huge news flash, a mind shattering revelation: All art is derivative. All that matters for comics is that the art convinces someone to buy a book. I'm glad that Donal issued an apology. I should be shocked that he did this in the first place but I've seen enough of this chucklefuckery to be manifestly non-plussed at this point.

The arm on the right is half the size of the Joe Mad arm and doesn't even look like it fits on the rest of the torso while the limbs and torso have different light sources despite a glowing snake in the middle of the dude's back. It's tough to make a call on what's going on though because anatomical errors and inconsistent lighting are generally signs of both heavy referencing and the garbage-ass Humberto Ramos 90s "style" that Figaro is deliberately going for here.

Okay gaijin, let's clear this up. A manga is drawn by a mangaka. Jose ain't Japanese, he ain't drawing manga unless he's drawing Japanese comics.

Korean comics are called manhwa and the artist or author a Manhwaga. Jose isn't drawing those either.

He's an American artist influenced by Asian? artwork, kindof. I think he's made it enough his own thing though.
