The majority of the women on OF are doing it out of desperation and poverty. The majority of women who engage in any kind of porn or sex work have been victims of sexual abuse, according to their own stories. Porn is inherently really fucking toxic as an industry, and is designed to prey on mentally ill and vulnerable or impoverished women.
Belle Delphine seems to be doing well. But she's the exception and not the rule (also she's making millions of dollars from OF).
I used to think that way, but I can't agree with you on that. If it was poverty why are there so many cases of "I can't wait to turn 18 and open an OF"? Unless someone has insanely brutal parents who will kick them out the second the clock strikes 12, I can't see that being poverty. I think we live in a culture where sex work is glamorized and people are shameless enough to think a gucci bag is worth spreading your asshole on the itnernet. I mean before OF wasn't it always talked about how IG models did fucked up things in Dubai just for expensive trash?
Then you have twitter where it seems every other girl is advertising her OF, if a tweet blows up she's advertise her OF, etc. Now we even have landwhales like Chantel opening OF. I get times are hard, especially for Americans who are expected to pay rent when they can't fucking work, it's moronic. But no way is it all poverty. Plenty of countries in Europe also have sex workers, and we have welfare states. Job seekers, free healthcare, extra support if you have kids, council housing, etc.
Feminism is also having a schizm about wether or not sex work is empowering or degrading. Again this entire thing can't be due to poverty imo, it's too widespread. The alternative is every other girl has also been sexually abused, and that also seems excessive and out of proportion. I think it's culture.
Delphine may make millions, but my comment wasn't about the money, just that a person who sells themselves and hates it, is less mentally fucked than the person who sees no issue or even enjoys it. The depressed aspect ironically makes them seem less broken. Delphine also kinda proves the point about it being glamorized. I would have no idea who she were if it weren't for the bathwater and general thottery. She has no real personality outside of that, yet millions know her name and she's essentially a celebrity, an e-celeb but still.
Aldous Huxley said:
“The real hopeless victims of mental illness are to be found among those who appear to be most normal. "Many of them are normal because they are so well adjusted to our mode of existence, because their human voice has been silenced so early in their lives, that they do not even struggle or suffer or develop symptoms as the neurotic does." They are normal not in what may be called the absolute sense of the word; they are normal only in relation to a profoundly abnormal society. Their perfect adjustment to that abnormal society is a measure of their mental sickness. These millions of abnormally normal people, living without fuss in a society to which, if they were fully human beings, they ought not to be adjusted.”
Yes, but that would require effort and brain power. Some of these women have no real skills except for taking selfies and shitposting about Bernie Sanders and socialism.
So it's not poverty then.
