Why am I not surprised that Kieron Gillen and Si Fucking Spurrier are the people chiefly responsible for Aphra's autistic characterization and plotting. Their work on other Marvel comics, notably X-Men, was the same kind of unreadable shit:
The idea that they'd do the same for a non-canon work like Genndy Wars is laughable.
Hence why Captain Marvel is known as Captain Relaunch among comic readers, because she has had more cancellations and New #1 Relaunches than anyone else.
That's why I like how he's used in series like LOTF and FOTJ. He's around, he's there, and he has a voice on the Jedi Council, and that's enough to remind me that he exists without stealing narrative real estate from the main characters. The only time the writers have used Kyle's combat prowess to any real degree in the story is when they had him throw down with Jacen in Fury, and that was mostly to illustrate how powerful the latter was as the series' threat. It was a pretty cool duel, too.
Speaking of the novels, my apologies for dragging my ass with the FOTJ coverage---I promise, it's coming. I'm just taking my time somewhat, since a sad part of me knows that this is the final stretch of the EU where I'll get to read about these characters. Label me a sentimental faggot if you must, but I already know that it's going to be hard to read Crucible, and finally say goodbye to them.
Don't count on it. Disney doesn't give a fuck about physical media in the current age of streaming content. Their Blandalorian series has been out for the better part of two years, has been the critical darling for hordes of people within the Funko Pop brigade, and yet there isn't a Blu-Ray release for that anywhere in sight.I wouldn't mind a Bluray remaster tbh.

It's Marvel. They're very much devoted to the policy of: "Oh, what, people don't like this insufferable character? Well, nothing five more relaunches won't fix. We'll MAKE them appreciate her, you'll see!"WHY?! Why do they keep bringing this insufferable cunt back even though her book keeps getting cancelled?!!!

I dunno, I think I'm with @Admiral Mantoid on this. In the Expanded Universe novels, Kyle makes the odd cameo and has a speaking role on occasion, but rarely drives the story. Something that I'm actually fine with, as the writers are probably aware that, being GFFA Chuck Norris, they'd have to account for him not being the curbstomping ubermensch that he is in the Jedi Outcast games, if they ever gave him more narrative coverage.Kyle was essentially a player gary stu, right down to him once being apart of The Dark Side but now he's a good guy because you know it's that easy to get away from being a total sociopath.
He belongs in a B-Canon, and don't get me wrong I like Kyle Katarn (helps that his games were great) and he's nowhere near as absurd as Starkiller. But he should just exist within Video Game continuity.
