Well, we were right. After months of Rhys denying he was getting fired, here he is scuttling back to Canada with his tail between his legs. I don't think he was actually fired, for what it's worth, he was probably just told that he had to publish something that a) has some actual intellectual rigor and b) isn't in Troon studies, aka Rhys making up stories about himself. It would have come with a timeline and probably something to sign agreeing he was out if he couldn't come up with the goods. And Rhys knew he couldn't, so I'm sure he spluttered a bit about the indignity and/or discrimination and resigned instead.
The new plan seems to be the Kyle Burns school of 'journalism', or, maintaining a Patreon for gibs and trying to sell his me-pieces to woke websites. In all fairness this is much better suited to the kind of thing Rhys produces than academia. He has boasted many times about reading three things and writing an article in a week, which you can do for outlets that are already willing to hide things like truth and logic under the rug and declare everything 'anti-trans'.
Now I'm interested to see if, having spent years on twitter unable to resist one-upping and condescending to his allies, blocking everyone else and ending up in a veritable desert with Kevin Gibes and some dumb lonely chicken tranny, ANYONE will give him the time of day, let alone money to be an 'independent journalist' lol.

Something's been bugging me about Rhys' return to Canada. So he needs to have two coof tests to return and then quarantine for 14 days. It's been a year and they still can't risk the hospital beds despite having the vaccine on hand. The US is at 22% vaccinated right now so Canada with their free doctors has got to be pushing 50%, right? Is this some kind of sick exercise of control for its own sake?
There's something fishy about this move. Just a few days ago he was tweeting about a paper or something he was going to write when his leave ended in April. That implied that he would be going back to his job. Now suddenly he's moving to Canada imminently?
Canada ordered a shit ton of vaccines but due to vaccine nationalism not much has arrived. We are still working on our 80+ population. It's ridiculous. Also, Canada doesn't accept vaccine proof in lieu of a test.

That's complete overkill. Socialism medicine should be pumping their people full of vaccine right now. I can't imagine why they're not. I may be scornful of commies but I'm happy to admit that our healthcare system is completely broken. Hell, a sizable chunk of our population flat out refuses to take the shot for some fucking reason. There is no way we're leading the world in vaccinations. If Canada is having trouble it's because somebody's stealing. Not sure what you do with stolen vaccine but there is just no other reason. I refuse to believe any healthcare system in the first world is worse than The Great American Grift Machine we're stuck with. Zero chance.

Life interrupted my Rhys-watching for a bit. So of course, that's when he got the boot. Fuck me sideways.
I've had heightened anticipation this month because he made tenure 2 years ago. If he bombed out before April it would set some kind of land speed record for achieving and losing tenure.
Well, look at him go. Rhys rarely disappoints.
His cheery desperation to cast this as a WIN is a hoot. It's a continuation of the colossal fuckup that began when he rage quit Canada. He went to Charleston because he could no longer bear Waterloo, now he's running back to Ontario (Waterloo?) because he can't stand the US. Will he ever make a move that isn't driven by tears and snot?
Whatever the cause, this will be a greater loss for the United States than we could know:

I imagine that they would be doing a lot better if they could get their hands on the vaccines, but most of them are coming the US right now - Biden just promised to send a bunch to Canada iirc, because they simply can't get them in. Administration isn't the problem (if it was, that would be indicative of a problem with the medical system), acquisition is.
(Ironically, the US covid vaccination "system" is pretty much socialist medicine at this point. People are getting vaccinated en masse, for free, in order of vulnerability, with vaccines that were purchased by the government and given to the states to administer. In my family's state they just sign up on a website, get an appointment and go get the shot, no payment or insurance needed. We just only have the socialist medicine for this one thing.)
That said, they'd require negative tests and quarantine from Rhys even if they were all vaccinated, because the US is home to several rising variants of covid that the vaccines are less effective against, many of which are worse than the original strain. They're trying to keep that shit out of their country, and rightly so.

I genuinely thought large economy nations had their own local production. I used to get all kinds of medicine from Canada back before I had decent insurance. The vaccines were made with public money, we should really force the companies to tell other countries how to make it. I'm all for America first but I highly doubt our economy will continue functioning with most of the world in indefinite lockdown. Wow, somehow I have an even lower opinion of our healthcare system. I did not think the bar could drop lower.
Hey on the bright side, this means that Canada is going to have to pay for Rhys' bewbs! I didn't like the idea of an American company financing that horrorshow.
