Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

So our german lockdown is being extended until 18th of April, with even more restrictions over Easter. Thursday before and Easter Saturday will be defined as rest days with everything closed. 1st to 5th April will involve restricted private gatherings, only up to five people. Counties with an incidence over 100 will get more restrictions, ranging from curfews, more contact restrictions, and requirement to wear masks in your own car if there is more than one person in there. Furthermore they want to establish two Cooftests per week for teachers and pupils.
This will, of course, do nothing but piss people off, either because it does nothing but limit people or because obviously it still wasn't hard enough and the "Covidiots" haven't had their skulls cracked open, and it will continue doing nothing until May, when miraculously our Branch Covidian fumbling will finally start to work.

I have a solution for all this, but it would involve fed-posting about politicians being hung on lampposts using the intestines of journalists, so I'm not gonna spell it out.

/edit: I just noticed that they basically declared the 1st of April to be a holiday. If that isn't Clown World, I don't know what is.

My medical history is none of your business, donut vender. Not even showing it if you promise to give me a free custard donut. Get this lame glaze shit outta my face.

Anyone who hands their medical info over for a donut is a fool and deserves to be laughed at. Same if the donut was the reason for a medical decision.

The Tweet is real, by the way.

I just went shopping no mask on not single person noticed or said anything to me

I'm jealous. In my neck of the woods you can sometimes get away with that, but there's usually a few Karens out and about making passive-aggressive comments as they pass you by in the store or throwing a fit to the manager, so you wear the face diaper to keep them at bay.

My job has an exceptional new policy that we can't plan any in-person events for the foseeable future, possibly into the fall They're really just dragging this shit out eternally, huh?

No, but basically the mRNA stuff trains the body to recognize a certain protein which could be a really useful tool. All types of cells/microscopic life express all sorts of unique molecules on the outsides of them. I think cancer cells are a little fucky in what they express on their exterior cell wall, so this is probably what they could teach the immune system to target, the thing the sick cells are expressing and not the healthy (sort of like the spikes on covid). Your body plays cat and mouse with cancer cells, the cancer tries to evade the killer T-cells, but if you could give the T-cells a leg up, point them at the right targets, they they could do serious damage to cancer. This all varies depending on the type of cancer etc. Honestly if this stuff turns out to be ok (after it's studied properly and not rushed) it could mean a lot for cancer patients. It's like a targeting laser for whatever the makers of the mRNA want to target, granted the body is very complex, and there is more to it than this, but this is just my non-expert understanding.
There's a great article in the New Yorker explaining T-cell therapy -

I had a family treated with T-cell therapy at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I've met the doctor from CHOP they write about the article. The treatment itself is a miracle, but it's a hard treatment to go through.

If this goes into wide circulation, it could be the biggest game changer in cancer treatment ever. It's not useful for all forms of cancer, but for the ones it is, it will be a huge help.

Oh yeah, and Merkel is basically saying that if she could she'd stop all travel here for 2021. They have given up completely on getting vaccinations done this year, not that that would have done anything.
I'd say I'm happy Merkel is finally retiring after keeping this shithole in 16 years of political stagnation and failure, but I fear what's coming after her... Most likely a coalition of Social Democrats, the Greens, and the former East German Socialist ruling party.
I need to apply for asylum somewhere.

Is this really surprising? My understanding was that the vaccine doesn't stop the infection, it just stops you from getting bad symptoms. At least, I'm pretty sure I remember hearing one of the overpaid medical bureaucrats say that.
It's not a vaccine then. They're just injecting mRNA version of Nyquil.

It is quite amazing how much the EU has fucked up during this pandemic, especially considering the resources they should have.

We all know about easy targets like the UK and US but they are now winning with vaccinations, Brazil is a tragic joke with a disgraceful leader and China is China, however the nation or group that has been the biggest failure in both protecting its citizens and maintaining their global reputation has to be the EU.

They keep flip-flopping about it. One moment it's a panacea, the next it's essentially useless. Neither position makes sense.

The argument is whether the vaccines create a sterilising immune response, and, to be honest, I think the panic is overblown in any direction. The vaccines aren't likely to be all that dangerous (though I say that as someone who is going to wait as long as possible before having to get one, because you never really know) and they aren't likely to cause any of the virulent disaster scenarios people have been throwing around, given that our own, native immune response to coronaviruses (and rhinoviruses) isn't truly sterilising either and that hasn't resulted in corpses lining the streets every time the common cold sweeps through.

What needs to happen is for the panicking morons to shut up and maybe die so everyone else can get back to normal. Alas...

I hate virtual events.
This is why I hate redditors and their type of ilk that put out these criticisms like, "hurr durr you can just do things online at home you don't need to do things in person you anti science scum."

Fuck off, if you like doing everything through a computer screen you're a failure of a human being. You shouldn't have to justify why you prefer to have interactions with other people while seeing their face. It should be the given standard that those interactions are normal in the first place.

I hope more people start snapping and blowing the fucking maskholes away, in minecraft of course.

Let's take away all the benefits of society and anything fun but keep enforcing ever stricter rules, I'm sure everyone will cheer us on! -authoritarians probably

Why are we obeying the rules again?

There was a video posted here called "Operation Money Drop" of some protestors (fat white people mostly) walking into Trader Joes in some shithole state (California I think) and grabbing what they need while people and employees scream at them. When they go to pay, the employees won't let them check out so they just put the money down and get into a tussle with the manager trying to block their way.

I like that. It's perfectly legal (except violating the mask ordinance), makes the mask cultist's day shittier, and looks hilarious to anyone watching the video. Incidentally, you can legally assault (within reason) anyone blocking your way who is not a store employee since that is false arrest or false imprisonment (both crimes) and there are times even store employees can be assaulted for blocking your way (depends on the jurisdiction). False arrest/imprisonment is grounds for a lawsuit which could be easy money if done right, since the store won't bother wasting time and will pay you a nuisance settlement and fire the employee(s) which means you get paid for cutting off the income of a maskfag. It's hard for the maskfag employee to get unemployment either since they were involuntarily terminated.

I feel embarrassed calling these people fellow texans
I really wish all these TV "news" stations would just drop the mask (whoops, no pun intended) and just list their parent company. That would narrow most things down to just 3 major multinational conglomerates, I mean there are a couple more, but for arguments sake lets just take 3. The average boomer who flips on the news/radio/movies would just see AT&T News, Comcast News, or Disney News. That would never happen though, too eye opening.
