Jon Pop fucked street walkers and it would not surprise me if the girl he “settled down” with is a girl he knocked up because the condom broke. Even more entertaining than his failnigga stories was how E/N walked on eggshells. He is black so they couldn’t be seen as being too aggressive towards him. They could still try to attack him for muh soggy knees but racism > sexism so it was a fine line. Anyone who may have went too hard on him was banned for you guessed it, racism. The Rome thread like many A/T threads started out well but over time they ran out of things to talk about. There was a lot to discuss but this was when the social justice crowd started swarming all over everything. So you have people asking questions about the Romans and raycism ad nauseam but large swathes of Roman society were ignored.

I'm up to 2016 on my read-through and the cracks are beginning to show. So far there's been a couple instances of the thread collectively shouting "Modern American views of race and ethnicity weren't present in the ancient world, fuckwits".

I suppose the fact the Romans had horrible fucked up views on the world which don't really relate to modern issues is alien to a Sa's american centric worldview. I recall I ate a probation from commenting neither Hannibal nor cleopatra would feel any kinship with african americans for a number of reasons even if there were black.

Jon Pop ahahaha that fuckin nigger, it was almost endearing in a way how he described and openly acknowledged how sad and pathetic his life was. It turned out we both lived in the exact same area. At the time, I was a social worker, and I worked in some pretty fuckin shitty areas and was familiar with some shit, and pop was definitely not lying because the shit he would say sometimes was extremely specific. I always loved his stories of getting jumped/beaten half to death by some hooker's pimp/"boyfriend" and how he'd gloat about "making some bitch whore drink a glass of my piss".

I credit them for recommending The History of Rome podcast but I got bored of goons obsessing over if Romans were racist or not. This was over five years ago so I can’t imagine what a shitshow it is now.

I was mistaken. The mods did not capitulate; instead, they locked the thread until Squizzle could explain himself. Squizzle and one other mod (Flavius Aetass) did try to explain themselves, and Julias chimed in. Those three mods' defenses went over beautifully.
