Reddit needs to die.

Lots of people say this but it won't fix anything. Reddit is a containment site. If reddit died they would just fuck up other communities, or build Reddit 2.0 like 8ch after 4chan. You will still have millions of people craving an echochamber with enforced groupthink and a shitty upvote system to encourage it. I'm sad reddit killed many forums (as did all social media), but reddit is both a symptom and a cause of a fucked u0p society.

Personally I like the fact that these retards are wasting money on reactions. It's a dumb, cucked, consoomer system that will likely spread, but that just makes it funnier.

The fact that it took this long to actually come to this conclusion is fucking ridiculous. It seems the US tech industry is on the verge of putting troons on such a pedestal that even child rape isn't enough to make them reconsider. Had major sections of the site not gone private and media not reported on it, I'm sure that nothing would have changed.

It's been near three years for me so this is gonna be a little spotty and possibly inaccurate. Don't quote me on any of this.

One of the mods went on a jihad trying to alert everyone to Gallowboob sending unsolicited nudes to people who might have been underage which led to more people noticing that Gallow was removing posts and resubmitting them as his own to karmawhore in almost every sub he moderated in and likely posting sponsored material. It spread to a few other subs like /r/watchredditdie, lots of stuff got removed by admins, and eventually ended with the mod removed by the admins. The admins sent down a message from on high not to mention his gallow's name and rewrote basic site functionality by coding out /r/drama's ability to ping other users. (archive) There was some other shit with Tardfinn and ahs but I wasn't browsing during that so I have no idea what happened.

Since then the admins have been wittling away at the sub, slowly banning users and removing more functions. At the moment it's a shell of its former self. It can't link to reddit, it can't ping users, can't say anything even remotely offensive without the mass-reports triggering anti-evil jannies, can't spinoff into new subs because they get banned, old spinoffs that existed for years are all banned, and, worst of all, frequent users are marked and too many of them subscribing to a new subreddit will trigger an auto-ban pending manual review.
