Abridging is pure autism and no man was able to channel that autism into a delirious fever dream quite like Ryan Nicks, aka PurpleEyesWTF.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, PurpleEyesWTF was a YouTuber who is best known for being the creator of Code MENT (a parody of Code Geass), None Piece (a parody of One Piece) and the "I'm at soup" meme. Unlike other abridgers who would try to condense the plot of an anime down in a tongue-in-cheek manner, PurpleEyes said "Fuck the plot" and just did whatever he thought was funny. It got to the point where his videos were so far removed from the original source material and so nonsensical that, well... I think this comment from one of his final videos sums it up pretty well:

PurpleEyes officially retired from abridging in 2020, but he ended things on his own terms. He made videos purely as a hobby and knew when it was time to walk away. With all that being said, let me leave you with one of my favorite PurpleEyesWTF videos. Enjoy and share some your favorite Purps videos or jokes.

The man is a doctor now, he has a wife and a newborn child. He's the ultimate chad. He did what was fun because it was fun, got out and got a real job, and didn't devolve into the sad state TeamFourStar (or LittleKuriboh to an extent) is in.

Based as fuck.

Out of all the abridged series, I always liked his because he never took it seriously. I stopped watching TFS' stuff because at some point it stopped being a parody and slowly morphed into a fandub with occasional jokes, and from what I hear Yu-Gi-Oh TAS is going down that road. Meanwhile PurpleEyes remained shitposty until the very end. He also had the best comedy voice in my opinion; he didn't care about accuracy, he cared if it sounded funny.

I think my favorite None Piece episodes were either 7 or 8. 8 in particular completely morphed the Gaimon arc into something horrible and wonderful.


Also, could any weeb tell me what song he used for the parody intro? I don't think it's connected to One Piece in any way and it drives me crazy.

TFS became the fucking Big Bang Theory of abridged series. Writers who think they're smart and funny snorting their own shit fumes + Kaiserneko shoving more gay furfag shit in with Yajirobe and Korin. DBZA became super insufferable after the Frieza saga, and a billion times more during its three-parter finale.

I got a fun one: it was this video he made responding to a YouTube comment about how a comment on the Internet made him absolutely furious. He sadly deleted it due to concerns of getting in hot water at his profession, but thank God someone reuploaded it. And it is a treat.

That reminds me of his Splatoon 2 review that also got taken down. Luckily, someone has reuploaded it as well.

As a YGO fan who grew up with TAS on the side, yea TAS is heading down the fandub road. For me the best section of YGOTAS was the digital arc which was S3 when we got to S4 it just started going f l a t . It was still somewhat funny but since we're in the grand prix, which is filler before the Egypt arc of YGO for anyone curious, it just felt so...soulless. Which is super disappointing but it was only a matter of time. Hell I remember this really dumb jab at Corona and this really boring Tea vs Rebecca "who gets yugi" exchange and that was about it. Nothing in the episode really made me go HAHA like the older seasons did. Might as well buy those last Kaiba themed shirts off sharkrobot and just watch the slow descent. Hell I miss Narutoabridged that shit was hysterical.

For me, CodeMENT 5 and 14 were top tier. Honestly it makes me want to FUCKING FINISH CODE GEASS. I'm in the middle of the damn mountain part and I know this shit gets good, but you will be missed purpleeyeswtf. :semperfidelis:

LK’s Ninjabridge was the best, I loved the sheer ridiculousness of it. Plus it had that one crossover with None Piece.

"SHIKA SHIKAMARU SHIKAMARU I LOVE YOU HEY HO SHIKA SHIKAMARU" has stuck with me too damn long and it'll just pop into my head sometimes.

Honestly YGOTAS should've went the way of ninjabridge and went off the shits. Would've made for a better show esp with S4.

Anyone have a fave pupleeyes line? Mines probably the whole "im tripping balls" segment, "I've SEEN eating. What you did in there was NOT eating", or the "I CAN SURVIVE ON A DIET OF CRAYONS AND LIGHTER FLUID!"

The Halloween Rules was pretty memorable too with the "they took the time to put razor blades in that candy DON'T BE A PUSSY AND DON'T EAT IT" line.
