General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Is it just me or this post of yours smells like a salesman pitch? Are you by chance hired by Ichikara?
Might be that he works in marketing and can't drop the habit. Otherwise it's just flavored information.
With how Hololive biased this thread is, I welcome more info on other agencies' and indies' happenings. Still can't make myself watch ENVtubers tho.

Gotta love how YT sometimes works - you watch one vid, like that Sugarlyric concert and voila, they are now being recommended. Neat.

Just more turboautists being turboautists, not a real concern for the Elite one but probably still annoying for them. Sounds like the artist was being a faggot and trying to get some clout but then realized how gay he looked to everyone who wasn't already raging about the pink haired waifu.
Here is a screenshot of the author's new bio if that counts. I dont trust google translate so if anyone can...?

I was searching for the VOD with the intention of watching it so it didnt occur to me to archive stuff while I look for answers as to why its gone, my bad.

I'll check and see if someone did though, and edit this post if ever.

EDIT: 同人誌朗読 <--this is the tag that is trending in twitter.

EDIT2: I checked the tag. Author is mad because they earned money while making fun of the plot of the doujin it seems, not the mention of the doujin itself. There are some minor outcry on copyright, but apparently people are more angry because they made fun of the plot. Like 'what if the author retires their pen' or something.

EDIT3: Went to the vt Miko split thread. I cannot verify this since I havent watched the vod, but people there say that Miko and Marine aren't even laughing at the doujin, they are laughing because Miko put the doujin in the freezer as a prank to Marine.

I am over this ridiculous thing.
"They publicly laugh at author, who put their soul in their work"
"The way they had the doujhin in the fridge is disrespectful to the author"
"It's like someone took the drawings of that guy at the back of the class and read it aloud to everybody"

That's how jp snowflakes look like, eh. Doesn't seem to be anything about copyright, at least in public outcry.
I see twitter retardation isn't strictly a 'murican thing.
Fuck you yaoi author. This is why I hate yaoi so much.

I think this gonna spark some war for gachikoi to hate the yaoi (probably).
I mean, it's kind of a pre-requisite to be a faggot to write BL doujin.

But this jackass takes it too seriously.
Fucking finally! I reached to the point where I was watching Imperium's entrance on NXT, and all I could think about was Hachaama Sunday.
Haachama debuting in Takeover Tampa confirmed.

marine made another statement

Although this is a very good news (and it really is), considering that Matsuri's growth has been very lacking so far compared to her colleagues, especially among the kaigainikki, do you think collabing with Gura is a strategical move to boolster her numbers? Especially when you consider that a lot of Gura's audience are the kind that would fit Matsuri's streams/established fanbase? (Yes, I mean Lyger)
if by growth you mean the concurrent viewers then yes, she's lagging behind but her sub count is constantly growing with her recently breaking the 900k mark. Although much of it are probably dead subs so it doesn't mean much if your live viewers only averaging about 1-2k. But i wouldn't stress over it since her gachikoi are unhinged individuals (lyger) with compulsive spending disorder so she should be fine and Matsuri herself doesnt peg me as a numberfag. I would, however, theorize that this is just Matsuri being Matsuri with her unquenchable thirst for, forgive me for uttering this word, loli, like Gura (see: Matsuri throwing supas at Gura's earliest stream) or even crazier yet, Gura managed to break out of her shell and asked one of her senpais for collab, with singing being the obvious choice for her because you don't have to speak with them on stream using her limited japanese.

Always liked this funposting cat. Her comment reminds me of how Null said you'd know he's been compromised if he ever starts talking about Cricket passionately. Little cues like this are fun.
Kind of a shame everyone really only talks about Hololive, but I guess if people started mentioning lesser known VTubers then retards would flood their chat and scare them into hiding.

I think there's really something to the idea of how most of the Vtubers today--at least those who aren't making five figures and getting figma merch--are really just socially retarded nerds who lack personal human connection, especially due to the exceedingly separated society Japan has become. I remember Watame crying about how her own father didn't want her and would have given her to an orphanage because he viewed her as a nuisance, or how Doggo is actually autistic to some extent, or how Marine really is anxious about growing older and unable to get married, or the Rabbit one genuinely finding lewd discussions uncomfortable despite being a grown woman (apparently living with her mother). Miko has health problems, Coco burst into tears when someone congratulated her on her hard work, etc.

TL;DR These anime faces are masks, obviously, but unlike most streamers in the West whose facade is for attention alone, the ones from Japan--at least with Vtubers--are mostly all lonely or anxious people. They aren't looking to climb a fame ladder, make bank or even really to get attention per se. Rather, they just want to connect with others.
Why else would someone stream for hours to an audience of 70 viewers tops with no superchats ever? They just want to have fun with someone and not smile alone.

Looking at Vtubers in their more sincere moments and in light of Japan's growing social isolation problems, even the most jaded soul can at least appreciate this aspect of them...even if most of them talk like a dog toy stepping on a Lego.
This is probably part of why a lot of people, myself included, are more drawn to VTubers over regular facecam streamers. Everything feels more authentic because they're doing it out of passion rather than a drive for fame or money. Sure there are exceptions to the rule on places like Twitch, but most of the big name Twitch streamers are obviously putting on an act and chasing trends to stay relevant or feed their ego rather than doing it out of a love for the hobby.

On a completely unrelated note: There was a clip I watched a while back that was just a few minutes of Watame's heartbeat ASMR and I can't for the life of me find it. If anyone has a link to that I would be grateful.

HACHAAMA'S BACK BOYS
FubuKing currently working on Nightmare Regular Grimm. Come watch the pain. Hopefully nightmare after.

She is on nightmare tho but is a slugfest because she is playing it to safe and get bonked to fast when Grimm accelerate and she doesnt have the perks of Fragile Strenght and the Dash upgrade, for some reason chat has not told her about it (or she is ignoring them)

And the Thumbnail made me laugh to hard

Edit: Defeated him after 2 hours

Edit 2: Chat unfortunately told her that she is far from over and goad her to do Pantheon and Path of pain

Teion International High electric music club gathered up for a 3D practice session. Being a Bandai project, it's no wonder they have high production value. It's worth watching the stream for the CM alone. Also they takes turn DJ-ing fellow livers cover at the end. A little snippet of what to expected of the real thing, so to speak.

If you're unfamiliar with Bandai Namco's Denonbu project, think of it as a character based dance music focused media mix project intending to bridges the gap between different subcultures. For example, Sotokanda High's are based on Akiba, so the characters are a nod to high school animes and voiced by idols while Jingumae Sandou High, a mix of Harakuju and Omotesando, Tokyo's bastion of fashion, has its characters focused on "kawaii" aesthetic and voiced by actual professional voice actresses. You get the idea. Teion International High is based on Shibuya, not the whole ward but the area around Shibuya station, as its surrounded by shopping centers popular with young people. It's no surprise that they choose an all Vtuber cast for the characters.

Houou Karin, voiced by Sukoya Kana. The popular and charismatic one. She's the mascot of an Asobinotes Fes (another Bandai Namco project) and her personality is as fiery as her name.

View attachment 2039076

Seto Mitsuki, voiced by Sister Claire. The cool and logical one and the foil to Karin. She needs to have a strong character to not be swept up in Karin's pace, and low voice Sister Claire is a blessing.

View attachment 2039077

Taiga Lucia, voiced by Hoshikawa Sara. The cute and energetic one. Some can be said about the casting choice of the other two, but this one is just short hair Hoshikawa. Her backstory even have her being raised oversea because she is fucking Hoshikawa Sara.
Those designs scream Mika Pikazo, is her isnt?

I don't get why that BL doujin sperged out. Its not like Japanese game shows don't do the same stupid shit. Also lol at the reddits for freaking out. Feel like they don't realise even negative engagement is engagement by Youtube AI's dumb standard. Just a question of if these Japanese haters will have the no-life tendancies like the Bugmen.
part of me was tempted to spin up an old Twitter spam bot to spam the artist (because it was a joke you egotistical dick, nothing really was read from your shitty yaoi book), realised I would be no better than the Bugmen, decided it would be better for me to drink bleach than become one of them

still standing by my rrat that Cover got some lawyers or guideline people to go over her content, agreed it skirts the line, etc etc. Otherwise, why would she wait a day to stream? It's because she was out on a self discovery holiday, the greenlight came outta nowhere and she had to spend the day getting back. That or she truly is the manifestation of unstoppable eldritch power, had dropped by Susan's place and committed Susan to what was happening in her lore vids. But one can only dream

But Miko, I wanna tell the BL artist they're a waste of space and are the reason for declining birthrates in Japan. On a serious note, glad to see Miko give no FAQs about this issue or the hate, granted her roommate has been doing this for a bit. A lil worried about Marine because of how she sometimes has responded to being called the Always Horny on Main (but then she just falls back into it, so really.. which is it? Horni or not horni?)

The new "rule" appears to have been a Cover kneejerk reaction just like when the copyrightpocalypse happened last year.
They told Haachama to wait in hiatus until Cover's PR and legal guys could check her videos. They were then restored and Haachama allowed back online the day after.
In addition, Coco was able to do the asacoco drug skit again, even though she said it was banned by the new rule in that one member stream.
So clearly the rule is either very loose or gone now.

(but then she just falls back into it, so really.. which is it? Horni or not horni?)
It's like Fubuki and the cat thing. In the right context it's a joke, when being spammed by chat it becomes an annoyance.
Gundou Mirei even said that the reason she didn't collab with Kanda much anymore is because Gunkan shipping is the only thing the English speaker in her chat spammed all the time.

Well shit that's a shame. I've watched a couple of their clips together and their synergy seems great. Maybe English comments should just be banned, since we tend to ruin shit for everybody.

I prefer the name "SEAmonkeys"

edit:
anyone else has mixed feelings about mousey 'new' model?
I cant get used to the 2D after having watched her 3D for so long
Mousey promised her fucking critics she wouldn't say fuckin for six minutes. I don't mind her new model, but the "purpled" mousey is a little bit weird to me. I wish she would have done something a bit more original with her tail than "to love ru spade tail" though.

It was purchased from a bookstore, meaning it was not a private or personal work. I think we all agree that there was no reason to get upset. Do people who write erotic doujins take it seriously? You would think it would be humorous like when porn does a parody of a movie.
Connor, weeb white guy who's live in Japan, do yaoi voice actor, part of trash taste podcast along side with Joey and Gigguk.
When is channel started it was mostly Black Butler dubs, which led to him having a 95% female viewership. He's major fujobait.

Edit: if you want to have a laugh go to pixiv and look up Gears of War, it's very enlightening as to what kind of Japs like the series
"Hey I wonder what kind of stuff JP-niki have come up wi-"
Oh. 🌽

Miko and Marine briefly talked about the plot of a yaoi doujin on stream.

-Author of said doujin had a melt down on twitter saying why are they profiting from his/her work and author is not.
This is so annoying, another stressful situation for the talents over basically nothing. I don't fully understand what's the fuss all about and I haven't watched the original stream, but I don't give a damn: the person behind the doujin should do a dogeza or something for stirring up shit and not Marine nor Miko. I only hope it will end soon and won't spin into some big yabai.

Here is a screenshot of the author's new bio if that counts.
"The author is using Gen Asagiri from Dr. Stone as his/her avatar, gee I wonder does he/she have permission to use it" - a retarded argument, but I think a similar "logic" was used for the BL doujin claim.

do you think collabing with Gura is a strategical move to boolster her numbers?
I wouldn't be surprised. There is no known connection/collab between these two, but on the other hand their voices may fit the song theme or something. "A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one."
Anyway, I'm glad that Gura is collabing with JP talents and I hope there will be more of it, and maybe a collab between Coco and EN talents eventually :optimistic:

They were then restored and Haachama allowed back online the day after.
Coincidence? I don't think so. First AsaCoco, then Haachama videos got unprivated, and shortly after she is back.

Something lighthearted:
