James turned down an offer to cameo in the new Godzilla movie. James's excuse for snubbing this director a second time? Take two guesses.

Is that real or are you joking cause if james wanted to get away from nerd shit that would be a good way to go

I don't think that was jab at NC. I would guess it was more about people getting annoyed at the skits in previous AVGN videos. We'll see if Doug gets a question about it on twitch. James told Doug about the jab Chris Bores did in the Irate Gamer/AVGN crossover so it wouldn't fit for James to do this kind of joke.
Completely agree, it's sad really, the skits used to be a welcomed break of pace when James was still involved in the making of the episodes.

This is pretty upsetting. It's almost like this guy (Adam Wingard) is regularly trying to help James getting out of this niche that is the AVGN, but James doesn't want to be helped.
Its really upsetting that he's become so complacent with being "meh". The AVGN from 10 years ago woulda killed for the opportunity to be in a major motion picture, (esp. one about giant monsters) even for a small cameo.

It's fine if it's what his state of mind is now. But at some point in the past it seemed he had some hopes to make it as a proper film director and only saw his Youtube success as a mean to an end. Appearing in Wingard's movies could have been a good step in that direction. Probably even more than making the AVGN movie.

I don't want to throw James under the bus, but the timeline seems a bit off.

"The project was announced in October 2015 when Legendary announced plans for a shared cinematic universe between Godzilla and King Kong. The film's writers room was assembled in March 2017, and Wingard was announced as the director in May 2017. Principal photography began in November 2018 in Hawaii, Australia and Hong Kong, and wrapped in April 2019."

James Rolfe's second daughter was born in September 2017, more than one year before the movie started being made: https://twitter.com/cinemassacre/status/903658061545517062?lang=eng

His kids are gonna be 🧂when they find out how many times their dad used them as an excuse.

"Sorry for being born robbed you of the opportunity to appear as a background extra in a Godzilla movie, dad! GAHWD!"

Then they use the Instagram implant sponsored by Elon Musk to post some bizarro Tik Tok meme'd version of Linkin' Park's Crawling In My Skin.
