Ben Feingold would absolutely roast Phil. He’s probably the most sarcastic of all chess GMs online and he’s absolutely hilarious.
Was Ben even a coach in PogChamps? I thought he didn't like the idea of it.

Though you could be saying that he'd make fun of Phil for being Phil, in which case: true.

dave has mentioned in the past that he was one of the best chess players in his school, which would make any chess games extra juicy cause it's no secret that he's a dumbass

I just hope some big brain chess players can explain if he's trying to copy some certain strategy from the first page of google
Won't work. Too many Chess moves and not every player will fall for traps. The only thing that'll make you invincible is using a chess engine which is highly detectable. (i.e. his eyes moving away from the screen, his moves being a consistent 4-5 second interval each time (example time), making random moves that are impractical for people starting out but an engine that sees 30-40 moves ahead likes)

EDIT: To expand further, a guide for Chess can mostly be like an opening theory course on The Ruy Lopez or any other opening. These are the theoretical best moves on how to play a certain opening, BUT, once you or opponent plays a move not "in theory" (aka not preplanned) you're completely on your fucking own.

Ben has gone on record saying that it wasn't the idea of it, he just thinks that the people who participate don't have a love for chess and are just cash grabbers. Sounds like Phil.

I don't know if it's been proposed before but I genuinely would love Phil to jump on the chess bandwagon.

It's a game with very clearly defined rules, goals and strategies (so no excuse for "I didn't know what to do!"). Lag doesn't really affect anything since time controls can be very generous. It can run on his potato of a computer. It's a mature game for adults with no possibility of any romance happening in-game. It's free. It exploded in popularity because of COVID keeping everyone inside. And, as @tzgnilki mentioned, Phil claimed being an exceptionally good chess player in school.

C'mon Phil you can do it! I'm sure you could get into PogChamps 4 if you applied that grit and determination that got you 4th place at EVO! Show them that you've still got what it takes to become the best!
plus if he actually got into pogchamps it would be hilarious to see him interact with GM chess coaches or see him banned for using a chess engine
what am I even saying that'd require setting the engine up
He won't ever so much as dip his little piggy toe in chess. He's not so stupid to miss the fact that chess, even computer chess, is a game of intellect versus intellect. There is no blaming reaction time, shitty programmers, lag (as you said) or anything else. The game of chess has no room for Phil's ego.

Still, I wouldn't mind him pitting himself against an AI or two. Then we might get one o' these:

Y'know, only with gin.

How much do you wanna bet he'd accuse his opponent of "cheating" after seeing him castle or after getting hit by an en passant?

Chess.com gives a CAP score which determines how well you played. Anything below like 98-99 most likely isn't cheating, so if Phil calls someone a cheater and the computer evaluation is like 55%...then lol

but yea he'll get shook by simple stuff like "WHAT HAS IS THAT A FORK"

Word for word:

"that has nothing to do with the last 2 days, genius! Its like I said.. I love, I love this mentality, Phil had a really good day this week. You're right, I did! Soo.. You know, when the sandwich shop opens business, has a really good day, all of a sudden, has tons of sales, does that mean they close down for the rest of the week? They dont have to do any sales for the rest of the week, right? Thats how life works, right? No, thats a stupid thing to say! Thats incredibly dumb! Yes,I did, I did well several days ago.. That will go to pay bills, that will do other things. That doesn't mean that that I wouldn't like to have a good night tonight also, of of of business! Like like use your fucking brain! Dont say dumb shit! Thats really dumb to say stuff like that!"
I'm pretty sure sandwich shops don't bleat out that their birthday is in a week, or that they're having a week-long celebration with "special events" that amount to the owner dressing in pants and putting streamers behind the counter, and expect people to come and give them money while offering nothing new/unique in return, Phil.

Ben wasn’t a coach for that. Hikaru Nakamura was. Ben Feingold doesn’t like Nakamura per say but it could be more of a pro wrestling style dislike for all we know.

edit: Fill Bern El touched on the cash grabbing perception of PogChamps which was part of Ben’s dislike towards Hikaru’s involvement.

Ben Finegold is the DSP of chess. Only difference is he seems to be somewhat self-aware. The bitch fit he threw because of PogChamps was fucking pathetic.
If anybody is thinking about getting into chess, I'd recommend GothamChess and Chessbrah.

Gotham dissects notable games and occasionally does fun stuff like Fog Of War Chess or Chaturanga with IM Eric Rosen, GM Hikaru and others.
Chessbrah on the other hand.. Aman is just straight up a chill dude it seems - he even does beginner tutorial-type stuff. Eric though.. let's just say he's special (Eric is the guy in the background). Maybe it's just me but the fact there's a video of two chess grandmasters acting like this in a video is so absurd, I absolutely love it.

He's also not a food service.

He is a person that plays video games in hopes of people giving him money for him to play video games. He offers entertainment that is subpar and cries poor every week.

Phil is more akin to GM. Barely surviving and needing a bailout to keep his head above water and STILL makes shitty products even after the bailout.
