Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

Here's a rundown on Samantha/ witchwithtics on Tik Tok. I've never done a post on here like this so bear with me. Photos will be under the spoiler and I'll also include links because there are so many videos that it's overwhelming to save them all. I am open to saving them but assume there's an easier way to compile them than just throwing them in here?

Samantha lives in AB, Canada, with her boyfriend and daughter from a previous relationship. She has a strained relationship with her father and claims her mother was married to a man who sexually assaulted her for an extended period of time. She has an extensive history of abuse by multiple people.

Her mental health claims are Anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Social Anxiety, PPD, ADHD, “Possible seizure activity” Sleep disorder, former eating disorder, and a briefly mentioned sensory disorder. Her Tourette's manifests as coprolalia, self injury, and body spasms. She also throws shit all over the kitchen which annoys me.

per Reddit: "Has the classic “f*ck off” and “beans” tic. Always seems to tic conveniently at the end of sentences and so as not to hurt herself. Her tics are all very controlled and conveniently pop up as she talks about them/during the space of filming a tiktok."

Her TikTok started around spring of last year and did not display tics. She then began speaking about being undiagnosed and how it takes a long time to get a diagnosis. She was diagnosed with Tourette's on Dec 8 of 2020.

Samantha is largely accused of copying another tik toker who has the same tics (thistrippyhippie) and is widely believed to be genuine.

Here is a video of her tics that is just bizarre

Here are some explanations regarding her verbal tics/ coprolalia:

"Common influences" on her tics include social media which is probably why she's a carbon copy of the hippy lady

and oops here's a callout that she responds to

In December she is "formally" diagnosed with Tourette's

She celebrated 100k followers by posting a compilation of one of her signature tics, Spaghetti Confetti

A month later she was up to over 500k

A new tic emerges

In this video she slaps her daughter, which is just a fucked up thing to post

finally, as of a few days ago she is at 800k followers

I hope I didn't fuck anything up here. Apologies in advance if I did.

Dude, this bitch gets on my nerves so fucking much.

I wonder how many of these girls are actually honest to their therapists. I reckon if some of them sit and try to game the "therapist" for asspats instead of real help.
She goes there long enough with no progress and a therapist that actually isnt there just for the money will terminate services if a client goes long enough with no progress.

That's not a tic attack, that's just her being mean to that kid. :(

EDIT: I just watched some of her videos and she claims to have these 'tik attacks' regularly, so regularly that she has tons of uploads of them. But her makeup is applied flawlessly, even though 90% of her tiks are supposedly 'motor' tics. But judging the severity of what she films herself experiencing, anyone experiencing that LEVEL of tics would be unable to do much of anything. So either someone else spends a good chunk of their day applying and re-applying her makeup, or she's just like every other Munchie out there: sick only when the camera is on her.

Damn, she really wins Tourettes Munchie Bingo. Saying "beans", hitting herself in the head, text to speech over clips of 'tic attacks', unspecific seizure disorders, throwing objects like eggs, hitting people around her (including her child?!), the autistic chewing necklace, shitty acting, bad hair dye and tattoos, and stuffed animals.

Her pretending to have a locked jaw and a seizure was pure gold.

She did that locked jaw thing right after another, more legit-seeming tiktoker* did.

*who likely has a different neurological disorder going on as it looks more like catatonia. Honestly, that article someone posted now makes me skeptical of the diagnostic criteria for tourettes.

The complicated truth about TikTok and Tourette’s syndrome

I don't know if this article has been posted yet or if I'm late but this shit's hilarious. Imagine being the neurologist and this wave of teen girls comes in with "tiktok tourettes"
Social contagion? Never!

If they just started calling it Tourettegender (tic/tics/ticself), this article would be hate speech.

I lurked in this thread well before I joined KF, and I truly thought I knew what obnoxious, attention-seeking, histrionic foolishness looked like. Morgan with her "brain on fire" destroying a hospital room, naked save for the Bible clutched in her rapacious, grifting talons. True and honest MANLY MAN MAN Julian with his maxi pad hanging out of his underpants. Jonzie the twentysomething smackhead snuggling with her pediatrician. Everything about our dear Skinwalker. I thought I had seen it all. I thought my psyche was girded, prepared to withstand the onslaught of utter, shameless bullshit these gals dish out in heaping, generous piles.

But I was wrong. This bitch has pushed me over the goddamn edge. I cannot put my finger on why I find her so...distasteful, but truly, she is the embodiment of everything wrong with our munchies. I think I'm speechless.

I'm not sure if neurologists were used to having kids come in with fake tourettes thanks to a chinese dancing app. Probably the current diagnostic criteria were good enough for jimmy who started having uncontrolled facial movements in 3rd grade math class, and obviously probably wasn't faking because back in the day that would get you bullied and cause everyone to call you a retard.

I included both those clips under the spoiler, but yeah, she's a piece of shit

editing to add that someone on Reddit addressed the makeup thing as tics not being as prominent when the brain is hyper focused on something else and keeping the hands busy. Not sure how true that is though
As someone with a minor tic that shows up due to some issues (I mean come on, it's obvious). Yes, if you are hyper focused, your tic is less likely to show up. The reason being the idle part of your brain is giving less control to reflexive action, and putting more focus into intent; tics becoming more a reflexive action rather than something the brain just does.

If I'm say focused on writing something or a conversation, I won't having the "unnatural" movement of my tic just happen as it does. But if I'm idly watching TV or lazily reading my phone, it's more likely to happen. Not nearly say as violent as tourettes or some other people's tics. That really varies, because of severity too as well.

It is the same with autism. The rise in young women (it is less teenagers and more early twenties, at least where I live) who show up for an autism diagnosis is eye-catching.
The people cited in the article were nice enough to really emphasize the suggestibility. There is a lot more "faking for clout"-talk behind closed doors.

I know this was a joke, but people are actually trying to establish the term "Neuroqueer". Even though they can't even agree on what that means.

I think the "neurodivergent" movement started as a good thing, (let's accept and not bully Jimmy with the facial tic and Bobby who's obsessed with trains due to autism,) but as usual the internet took it too far and now in order to be cool you have to be "neurodivergent" to the point kids are making disabilities up. It reminds me a little of the "body positivity" movement which went from "lt's not photoshop models to look like holocaust victims" to "deathfats are healthy at any size."
It's like thrse kids don't understand you don't need a random label from a doctor to be unique and have your own perception of things. We are all divergent mental illness/disability or not.

I hope this is acceptable pl-ing: I’m watching a former close friend descend into munchiedom in real time. It’s like she’s following a script you could write after reading this post.

Today on her Instagram she announced that she has mast cell activation, declared she’s agoraphobic and can’t work, then immediately after wrote about a vacation she’s planning...then followed that up with a rant about no doctors treating her correctly or taking her seriously.

Up till now it’s been a classic failure to launch situation, except she did launch and do okay at one point, but has since crashed into chronic unemployment and a persecution complex. Plus a healthy dose of self diagnosed autism and EDS.

Fuck. Munchausen’s sucks.

No munchie's gonna sit down and tell their therapist they're a munchie. And therapists do badly with manipulators, which munchies are chronic at. It's a known issue; Lundy Bancroft's written books about how if you send an abuser to get therapy, they'll convince the therapist it's actually their victim's fault with ease. It's also very easy to end up with therapy being just kind of a general "asspats for the poor sad girl" session, even if it's not a conscious manipulation of the therapist - therapists are trained to side with their clients and try to help their clients, and if the client is saying "what would make me happy is a tube in my tummy", it's really hard to challenge that when the only medical info / info about the rest of their life that you have comes from them.

Anorexia, depression/self-harm, autism, ADHD, dysphoria, DID/"plural", and now Tourette's... at what point do the "experts" stop tiptoeing around the fact that a) there's a lot of evidence for multiple, discrete waves of social contagion/mass hysteria in young women, and therefore mental illness (or at least belief that you're mentally ill) can clearly be transmissible and appropriate precautions need to be taken, and b) that a lot more people than previously thought like faking being mentally ill for asspats. (Autism/ADHD isn't a mental illness but you know what I mean.)

Basically the only way to cure personality disorders is to get the client to realize they have a problem, and that the problem they have is their entire personality. If the client can't realize this then all bets are off, any therapy will not work. Hence why therapists won't force a person into personality disorder treatment if the client doesn't want to. At that point it's a lost cause.
As you can see getting a person with a cluster B disorder to come to some self realization they have a personal problem is extremely difficult. We have cows here who've gotten themselves physically sick, lost custody/almost losing custody of their kids, whored themselves out for chump change, ect. and yet despite these obvious lows none of them have hit a wake up call.

My pet munchie is similar in the launching. I am currently pondering on whether she is worth a full post on here. I did use to have huge amounts of material. I was sucked into her tales of woe, but when she found out what I do for a living she hounded me with middle of the night texts moaning about pain and temperature etc.

She has munched herself into a desperate situation, surgeries and wound breakdowns and a huge opiate problem. She posts ridiculous questions like "is it ok to drive after a bottle full of morphine?" And "how much diazepam is the max I can take?"

She also keeps a blanket and pillow in her car incase she faints.

ETA Do you discuss Allyson Suptin in here? Formally PTP, now asd-tea? Been having a bit of a dig around and finding her fascinating. She appears to have a homemade tube stuck up her nose for GP yet tolerates much oral intake, and doesn't seem to be lacking calorific intake. Also much drama and BPD type behaviour. Happy to do a longer post....
