On the topic of bullshit Star Trek memes, anyone else find Vinny's one week obsessions kind of annoying?
Where he would watch something, and not shut up about it for a week. Like the time he watched Flight Of The Concords this time last year and wouldn't shut the fuck up about it.
I also remember a period where he had to randomly mention to chat "hey guys I watched the movie Eyes Wide Shut when I was a kid" several times.
This is of course, different than him talking about a movie that RLM immediately reviewed the day prior, or his REM kick he goes on 3 times a year.

There is legitimacy to the idea that young, impressionable women can be too stupid and agentless to make proper decisions, but the conversation will never go towards the total absence of a culture shaming this sort of behavior, or the lack of a social safety net in general these days, even as women are abused and incels do lose their shit and go postal.
Sure, Vinny gets flak right now so maybe he tones it back a bit, but why isn't everyone making fun of the groupies themselves? In the 70s and 80s groupies were essentially the lowest class of people, not for taking cock from famous people (the time and place was actually more sex positive than these days, thanks Feminism), but because they did it in the most desperate and humiliating way.
Now it seems kewl to come out with these accusations and everyone's all sympathetic and shit instead of trying to dissuade others from replicating that behavior.

I'm of two minds about it.
On one hand, yes, it's kind of annoying, especially when you only watch him stream certain games. Depending on the topic it also really dates the streams (I know, weird complaint, but it makes watching some older content weird.)
On the other hand, it's kind of relatable. I think everyone knows someone who (or is guilty of) gets really invested in a new thing for a week and getting excited about it. It kind of lends a little bit of authenticity to the streamer persona.

At first I looked at this and assumed I must be misunderstanding the allegations, but I guess we've actually reached a point where there isn't even pretense anymore: this is straight up just a dude people are trying to cancel for getting laid. I think that was mostly the case for Dan Avidan, but there were at least slightly sketchier elements to that and he's skeevier overall.
What I find funny is how many of the people doing this shit are among the woke crowd...do they realize how seriously they're hurting people's perception of women overall every single time they latch on to situations like this? I'm not going to condemn anyone for being a whore, whores tend to be easy going and they'll also probably suck your dick which is an obvious bonus, but when you've got this endless stream of skanks who also apparently just want to destroy people to assuage their own insecurities and regrets, it only reinforces the idea that women SHOULD be taken advantage of, used up, and tossed aside because after all they're malicious sociopaths who'll try to get one over on you if they can, so they deserve to be treated in kind.
I have to wonder if the cancel culture #metoo bs is partially responsible for the bizarre rise in young women who want to call themselves boys despite looking and behaving completely female; when you're incessantly told that women are helpless infantile narcissists who are not only valuable almost exclusively for their sexuality but also can't be trusted to not try to socially maul anyone they're ever close to, I could understand not wanting to identify with that.
You'd think with the kind of information available these days people would look at history and think "Social attitudes have swung back and forth pretty much as long as humans have been around so I should probably just develop my own principles and have the guts to stand by them regardless of what's popular or not", but the modern world's ability to educate is only rivaled by its ability to enable stupidity.

Having relations physical or romantic with your fans is never advisable. Not because of ethical or moral issues that may arise, but because a vast majority of the time (even more so in the era of <<Current Year>>) ends badly.
