I've been very busy the last week. There is a treasure trove of Reuben content out there, more will be coming soon. For now, I leave you with this tasty tidbit:

Nice find. I always imagined his hand writing would be an ugly mess of a scrawl

The accolades are still rolling in for our blossoming screenwriting prodigy.

An veteran IMDB user of seven years described Reuben's seminal masterpiece as "fun" and said that it "stays mostly on point". His gracious and insightful review indicated that the failings of the movie should not be blamed on the director, but rather his inability to run a film production. Interesting. Also, the reviewer describes Reuben's sense of humor as "nerdist", confirming that this feature is indeed made by autists and for autists.

Overall the hit-classic The Making of Superhero Musical has accumulated a whopping 8.8/10 rating on IMDB.

The film remains an elusive cult hit, apparently. While still not released to the general public, Reuben has been enthusiastically submitting his film to conventions and film festivals, according to his twitter and indiegogo accounts. Surley this is to reach his target audience of like minded peers and avoid the critical lens of those philistines known as the general public/dang dirty trolls.

If any of you Boston-area Kiwis are too eager to wait, and missed the Bard College premiere, then be sure to brave the hordes of fans to see it at the upcoming Boston Comic Con!

Unfortunately, I have have had no success in corresponding long enough with Reuben to get an exclusive interview on his creative process and mastery of the cinematic arts. On the bright side, we will not be left high and dry with an insatiable craving for insight into his creative genius. Bard College was nice enough to share Reuben's masturbatory self-reflection of the film-making process.

Finally, a bonus photo to pay tribute to Reuben while we all eagerly await the wide release of The Making of a Superhero Musical. G-god s-s-s-peed, Reuben.

Is that Neil Gaiman?

Did he manage to get Neil Gaiman in his movie?

Interesting read. His remarks on the previous production (I'm guessing Book Girl) blame the lead actress for the total failure of the project. Didn't we conclude that the young lady from that work was a girlfriend? I guess she wasn't "the one."

What a dick move. As with most cows, any time I start to be remotely sympathetic, they pull some astounding feat of assholery.

"Many of the intrinsic issues of the film seem not to be a construct of poor film making but of non-ideal situations."
Does any human being ever write like this, or is Bard secretly creating a new species of Homo hipsterus?

I'm pretty sure an attribute of great film makers and directors is overcoming adversity and working through problems during the film making process, not things to blame for the movie being shit. Issues come up in every walk of life. Deal with them and you're good at your job. Do a shit job dealing with them, and you're not that great.

Yes. Lolcows write like that.

It's in polysyllabic words and I bet this stuttering fuck couldn't get through that tongue-twister of a sentence while talking to Jace.

But the meaning of it is pretty simple: the fact my movie is shit isn't my fault. It was someone else's fault/the weather/the wrath of an angry God/bad luck/capitalism/patriarchy/soggy knees/a conspiracy.

It was particularly shitty to blame the failure of his last effort on the actress, especially if (as some said) she is an ex.

I'd like to see this pussy go through the trials and tribulations of making, say, Apocalypse Now, and come out the other end with anything in the can at all, much less a classic movie. "Non-ideal situations" are the sort of things real directors deal with every day, and they come out with final product worth it.

For another great example, check out Lost in La Mancha.

The story of this is basically, Terry Gilliam tried to make a film called The Man Who Killed Don Quixote which was, surprisingly, actually about Don Quixote. The effort went disastrously, and in fact you may recall no such film was ever released.

However, the surviving footage and a documentary crew managed to make a marvelous documentary about the failure of the film.

Reuben Baron doesn't have that in him. That is why he turned into a stuttering, mumbling, mush-mouth retard when he thought he was taking on easy game in the Jace showdown, picking on a mental case, and instead got his ass handed to him.
