Remember that time Gus and Esther looked after Geoff's house while he was on holiday then fucked in every room of the house and left gold stars everywhere they'd fucked? They even made a comic about it.
There comes a time when everyone must put childish things aside and sow their wild oats. And know when to not put things on blast.

*They want to funnel everyone back into "Rooster Teeth" and re-brand "RT Core" (The branch that had live-action skits with Barbara and Blaine)

In other words, they want to funnel people back together so there's not as many people only watching Achievement Hunter and unaware of what the other branches of the company are doing.....Like the company used to be until around 4 years ago
So they're turning the main channel into what the LetsPlay channel tried and failed to be? Why are they so obsessed with constantly doing things that they know don't work. Brought back Sportsball after it failed, brought back The Patch after it failed, now they're doing the same thing with this. People don't want to watch people they don't like on channels that they subscribed to.

Because sparks of inspiration are a finite resource, a resource that not everyone has. Some who had that resource in Rooster Teeth have left, those who remain either never had it or have depleted it. This is why they keep recycling the same failed ideas, there's nothing else and this time it might work.

This is the bane of RT. In keeping with this theme I've just discovered another show that RT tried to do about a year ago called 'Keeping the Lights On". It's another podcast (who would have thought?) except it's with Geoff, Jack and a guest and they use a greenscreen to pretend that they are in a studio and it looks absolutely ridiculous.

This is like Disney trying to give every character in a show their spin off series. I mean jesus, everyone at RT/AH has their own side show/project:
Geoff: Keeping the lights on, and Fuckface
Trevor: Ready set show, Game kids
Jeremy: Chump, Ready set show
Alfredo: A good OMEN
Blaine: Good morning from hell
Chris: Good morning from hell
Fiona: This just Internet
Lindsay: This just Internet
Michael: Fuckface
Matt: Game kids
(Those were all I felt like naming)

I'm no artist but I'm pretty sure I could have made that in Blender. Ironic humor is far too often used as an excuse for laziness. "hurr durr it's supposed to be shit you just don't get it."

This must be the only way they can justify keeping their (probably overpaid) jobs.

It's great that they keep pretending anything outside of RWBY and Lets play are somehow worthwhile. The veiws are awful time and time again, every attempt at scripted comedy sinks like a lead balloon but they keep acting like they're all on equal footing. If it weren't for in-too-deep-RWBY fans and the 13-18 year olds that keep coming back for Minecraft episode 674 then RT would already have been taken out back.

What channels aside from Funhaus still even exist for them to act like the RT channel is some bigger community than just the boring clutch of unfunny redditor types? RT is the EA of different channels that hitch their wagon only to before dying, FH is clearly on the way out too so it'll be wild to see them pretending that they're nothing more than a house of cards held up by a few shakey IPs. Even their animation department is a joke, RWBY is a laughing stock in the industry while Gen:lock was a huge white elephant and their indie shows were panned even by their most fawning audience members.

At least their podcasting requires so little input and you can get a trickle of ad money but if it'll be enough to keep the lights on, who knows. And the threat of renaming and rebranding sounds more like a Warner Bros decision, soon they'll be the Warner Teeth channel brining you all the new Space Jam and DC news, games and merch.

Well, Death Battle seems to be doing pretty well, so there's another thing RT has going for it, but I don't think it's much.

Try criticizing anything about RWBY or Monty Oum in the RT community and watch the sperging and mental gynmastics fly into overdrive.

They really do take it as insulting their cult's god and you dont even have to troll these spergs, just say that you dont like the cell shading as it looks like a cheap MMD ripoff with animation quality (because it actually was a bunch of MMD animations early on, even with some of the later Reach Era RVB seasons and those meme worthy autistic 5+ minute long fighting scenes.) and they will swing those ban hammers and wake up the sockpuppet armies within seconds.

Truly is a work of nature, and Autism.

I don't know why it just struck me, but I remember people getting upset because the "Last Laugh" concept was be using for an Australian and Brazilian show with no hint of irony. Last Laugh itself was a 1:1 carbon copy of a Japanese show on Amazon called Documental (Which was a spin-off of sorts from the No Laughing Batsu games that have been going on since the 00's).

Ready-Set-Show isn't EXACTLY a 1:1 from Good Mythical Morning but you can see it's heavily, heavily inspired by it, much more than other shows they've done in the past like On the Spot (Whose Line is it Anyway) and Theatre Mode (Mystery Science Theatre 3000).

I'm starting to think back and remember how creatively bankrupt the company's been getting as they stray further away from the content that made them popular, and I've got little enthusiasm for whatever they're pitching as a "return to their roots" after the 18th Anniversary stream.

Most of these people aren't friends that hang out after work or on the weekends anymore, they're all between 30 and 50, most of them have families now, and they've all got work-separate friends and the usual drunk antics aren't there anymore and they've told almost every story they've ever had pre Rooster Teeth careers on a podcast already.

I think a lot of people are like that nowadays, I'm the other way around, I was a fan of RT before AH was even a thing. I think that's why I felt so betrayed when they started fucking up and going in the complete opposite direction to their prior trajectory. I remember playing WoW, listening to them talk shit about the latest episode of Lost, reading the comics and watching their side project machinima works. 1-800-MAGIC was good and I will argue till my last breath with anyone that says otherwise. (I also haven't seen it in close to ten years so I might be wrong)
I remember the huge arguments online over whether RT or DigitalPhear was better and I remember Geoff and Burnie arguing over a stupid achievement in Dead Rising for years and now it's all gone. The people involved have mostly left. Luke and Griffon from the comics, Joel, Burnie, Brandon, Aaron, Josh, Adam Ellis, Kara and Ray. I know there's tons more and most of them are doing their own thing but RT really did have something special in the 00's through to the early 10's

Is there any sort of study on why the biggest fans of something or someone became their harshest critics?
Feels like rt is your dead pet. You should move on, man.

Some people were raised to never speak ill of the dead because they cannot defend themselves.
Well they also can't hear your criticism so it's not like you're going to offend them. God forbid you speak ill of some faggot just because they died. Monty was a halfway decent animator who could work quickly. He was shitty with teamwork and his work/life balance was all out of whack. If he didn't die from an allergic reaction he would have died from a heart attack in his 40's.

Oh yeah, that's already done. Way beyond that. It's just sometimes when I come to this thread and we're talking about the old days of RT I get a hard wave of nostalgia but all I need to do is go to the RT site and it becomes clear again why they're dying.

You're just being extra now
Everything I said about Monty is from either the Shane letter or from his appearances on the podcasts. Do you have to speak well of every dead person? Jimmy Saville? Epstein? David Dreger?
No. They were bad people in life and dying doesn't remove the possibility of criticising them.
Monty might not have been a bad person but there's no reason you can't criticise him just because he's dead. People will criticise my life choices when I'm gone and they'll do it to you. Sorry to have to be the one to break this news to you.
