This is awful, even better than what I expected in how amusing this garbage is. Just when my copium supplies were about to run out too!

If you've been reading anything I've posted since last night, you'd have realized that I haven't been shy in criticizing what I didn't like or couldn't make sense of in the ending. I also understand that what does make sense, makes sense, and I understand that even making sense doesn't automatically render something "well done", which is part of why I've been hesitant in saying whether I liked the ending (though repeat reads bring on more melancholy for some reason). Conversely, I can still like something that doesn't make sense (I'm very fond of A:TLA even though logic re: dealing with the Fire Lord breaks down at around the Day of Black Sun onward).

"Eren committed genocide because of virgin rage" is a stupid-but-funny joke. As an honest-to-God argument, it makes as much sense as "WHOOOOA EVANGELION IS SO TRIPPY AND DOESN'T MAKE SENSE" posed as an actual argument. In order to come to that conclusion you have to have actually given up any pretense of actual criticism to begin with.

Was dying also part of his master plan, Mr. Abominacion?

I don't think you can have sex after you've decided to die.
It was a joke. And then we got this chapter where Eren flops around in the water crying about how he doesn't want Mikasa to fuck anyone else and how she's the key to everything, which made it real. The hero of our story was an incel too autistic to make a move on a girl who spent 99% of her time salivating over him. It's dumb, but that's what Isayama wrote.

And the part where he immediately gets a hold of himself after being told that he looked like a dork, or the part immediately after that where he talked about how he wanted her to be happy, or the part before that outburst when he was being tsundere?

Lelouch Gambit that failed
Clearly it didn't fail if they're now peace ambassadors and still alive.

I like how the part where "This fight won't end until the Eldians or the Rest of the world is wiped out" implies peace. I'm sure peace ambassadors will work as well as last time.
Or if mean he only saved his friends? He could have done that by genociding all the non Eldians too.

That was meant to be a quotation (paraphrased, it seems) from Eren well before this point. Thus the "maybe he was right" and also "he entrusted us with the future of this world".

I mean, Eren outright said earlier in the chapter that they wouldn't be able to mount an attack against Paradis because he already killed nearly all of them.

Why did the author have to turn this into a WW2 fanfic?

The Fucking Japs really are THAT fucking subconsciously paranoid of being nuked again.

It still permeates every level of their society in a subtle way even generations later and is why they willingly work themselves to death and cope by chugging insane levels of alcohol.

And you are going to ignore the great buildup of Yaegerist army? The whole point is that this shit did nothing to break the cycle of revenge/hate. Just look at the fervor of the Eldians in those scenes. If you are naive and believe in the peace negotiations, then go ahead. Maybe Armin can pull a Zeke baseball leaf out of his ass again in a totally realistic fashion.

The underlying implication of the narrative was that there is no such solution to the cycle of revenge/hate beyond continuing to work at it (see Sasha's father talking about forests and devils inside and stuff). Eren could have mowed down the entire world and there could have still been intranational conflict. Zeke could have turned them into Ken dolls and they would have slowly died out in a collapsing society.

How does that page, or indeed that line of dialogue, show them “continuing to work at [peace]”? It literally says “this problem will never be solved until either they’re dead, or we are”, with the Eldians all hyped up to fight. There’s literally no way to read that to mean that everyone’s learned to be nicer to each other now and are going to make good-faith efforts at negotiating a peace deal.

If you wanted a theme of “there are no magical solutions to real-world issues, the only cure is to love each other”, that would be pretty gay, but it could at least work as a message - that the only cure for hatred is understanding and empathy, not magic powers. The way it is though, it’s like they’ve learned nothing, and will just keep going at each other until one side’s dead, just without the power of the Titans this time.

You're reading the page wrong, is what's happening. Or, it would be better understood if they put quotations around that line, because Armin is referring to something that Eren once said. Otherwise, what else is Armin referring to when he refers to what Eren said?

I didn't say the world was anywhere near that point. I said that that's what the gang decided to work towards.

I was looking forward to an over the top ending that would provoke rage from all sides but honestly this was just sad. All that batshit craziness for a muffled fart of an ending at best.

Oh well. Lurking in this thread was fun while it lasted so thanks all for the reeeecaps and synopses.

If Eren was already a mother killing Hitler piece of shit who was willing to kill 80% of humanity for selfish reason might as well at least kill the non Eldians to stop racism, at least there wouldn't be the genocidal hateboner against his people anymore. Literally any option would've made more sense.

Hitler literally had a better and more logical moral reason for his genocide and was committed to a less harmful, much smarter and noble goal.

Holy fuck the Erenfags are melting down and have produced new copes which kill my sides

>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THE CHAPTER IS FAKE, THE REAL ENDING IS NOT OUT YET

>MAPPA WILL SAVE THE SERIES
(Ignoring the fact that Isayama literally has a lot of creative control in how the anime goes)
