Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

That's why he's Non-Binary so if he can't be bothered this week or realises he's fucked himself he can just go back and pretend this is what he's like
That's why I have no sympathy or feel there is any credibility behind Alan Paige.... wait... Elliot? WHatever the fuck they call themselves, "coming out". They literally took the most vague route they could so it didn't limit their options when it came to auditioning. Almost like this shit is scripted more than anything.

With that said, I wouldn't count Jim putting on the Ster-dust outfit as falling away from it. He's back in the wig by the end of the video. I've not watched enough to know if the Stephanie voice was different or not. I don' t really fucking care either.

And like I said: those kind of people you're talking about don't give a fuck about this stuff because FIFA or CoD will be the only game they buy in a year, so they'll either keep playing if they aren't bothered by the lootbox stuff, or they'll stop buying and the series will die like it deserves to.
The problem with that idea is the few "whales" that spend 5 or 6 figures on ultimate team cards are more valuable than the customers they lose.

True, but I'm yet to see any data on the long-term viability of whales, especially in games that live or die on a large, active userbase. Could something like Destiny, for example, work if there were only a few dozen whales left playing?

Like most things AAA do they seem to be focused entirely on short-term gains with zero thought to what happens when your handful of whales eventually run out of cash or move on to the next slot machine, by which point you've alienated everyone else who was content to spend $60 annually.

Doesn't really matter for FIFA or any other sports game, as the new one will be out next year and people will have to start all over again. I can't forsee the franchise ever dying, because it only has one competitor in Pro Evo, which doesn't have all of the player and team licences.

I don't like to repeat myself, but I guess I will: if having David Beckham or whoever's likeness is more important to you than playing the actually well-made football simulator then you deserve exactly what you get.

It's very smart of him to make a video on his 900k sub channel telling people why it's ok to pirate content. Extremely wise move. Great way to build industry connections. Now he just needs to yell BETRAYAL during the next in-person e3 whatever that may be.
Although I dont disagree with his sentiment I will laugh my fucking ass off if he gets into serious trouble for it (and by this I mean I hope he does) just to see what would happen and how he would react.

Are they even still married? They are never mentioned or appear. Last I heard she was cucking him years ago (Excuse me, "polyamorous.")
I thought it was strange she would retweet him and even @ him yet he would never ackowledge her on his timeline (this was a few years ago).

Reminds me of ProtomagicalGirl/Jaret claiming that his "system" was disbanding after he decided that being a "plural" was too stupid and embarassing for even him to keep up. It's the end of playing pretend, basically. Putting all your toys back in the box after you've gotten bored and no one's paying you mind anymore.

I don't think whales implies long term viability, but more of "Take the money and run" (after most/all the whales leave".
It could be 30 days post launch it could be 15+ years all that matters is that enough whales are around to make you a ton of money.

Is there some sort of account or credit card where the total amount per month can be sharply curtailed, so a kid wouldn't spend more than allowance money, or an adult with poor impulse control can limit their own spending?
Yes. It’s called not giving them a credit card. Debit cards are things.
If you give them their own account and fill it only with their allowance they can’t go wild.
As for adults, the harder you make the savings account to withdraw money from the less likely they will spluge. But yes, there are setups that will absolutely curtale spending.

A lot of parents are fucking idiots though, and modern game systems don’t even require you to put your security code in every time you make a purchase. it just lets you spend, spend spend. So dumb kids buy a bunch of crap and then dumb parents act like it’s the game companies fault when their kid racks up 500 bucks in mtx when they weren’t paying attention.

In all honesty, the PSP is a great system for piracy.

You can install any PSP game you want, get emulators for a ton of systems, and there are even programs that let you convert PS1 roms that were never released for the system.
Vita/PSTV has identical functionality. They have PSP hardware integrated, so you can do everything the PSP can. Plus you can pirate Vita native games.

Vita is the better purchase by far right now, since a good condition PSP costs almost as much as decent Vita.

IIRC that's built into Sony's family account management. The other option is to just by a $25 (or whatever denomination) PSN card each month.

Indeed. It's why although I hate loot boxes for what they are I do not view them as a problem and I don't think they should have all the regulations they do. The problem is always parents not parenting or protecting their children. I think the parents should be forced to eat those bills personally.

It is.

Ladies and guntlemen, I'd like to pause this discussion of children's fianances to point out Jim is almost certainly dropping below 900k subs this month.

What scale of chimpout, if any, are we predicting?

I think he knows that doing a proper chimp will only make him look like more of a loser. We might get some salt on his podcast or his twitch streams, but nobody ever pays attention to those.
Bold of you to assume he still possesses that level of self-awareness. He's already bitched in his JQs about losing subs since 'coming out', although he flip-flops between it being because of transphobia and his imaginary shadowban.

Having said that, I guess as long as the Patreon bux keep flowing in to finance his titty skittle addiction, subs shouldn't really matter to him anymore.

What?! Jim made a video that's just talking about video games?!

I hope he realizes videos like these is what his channel needs. You wanna troon out? Fine troon out, just don't show your troon mug in the videos and don't rub in what troony troon you are in every video. I think I didn't hear "cAAAApitalism" once in this video, that alone is a huge progress for me ("cAAApitalism" in that annoying high pitched voice is almost like a trigger at this point). He did get to his usual whining about prices at the end there, but overall, surprisingly watchable especially compared to digital diarrhea (pardon, periods) he's been peddling lately
