The number of times I've seen the flipside of that, where someone names their kid Mercedes and they do it not because Mercedes is ACTUALLY A NAME (Mercedes was the name of Emil Jellinek's daughter, the Emil Jellinek who worked with Daimler and Maybach) but because of the car make, is high enough that it's an understandable, if regrettable mistake.
I'm glad I never asked her why her parents named her after an expensive German sports car. SF/Oakland/Berkeley was home to hood rats that gave their kids wacky names, mostly Oakland now. I guess the disappearance of blacks from SF/Berkeley due to gentrification by Silicon Valley woketards is lost on our tech overlords.

I think it's for transparency purposes, to let the jury form their own opinions on whether or not the witness is credible, maybe?

Seems slimy and manipulative not to disclose their cost.
I agree that disclosing they are professional witnesses makes sense, but disclosing the actual hourly rate, particularly a very high hourly rate, seems to undermine their credibility.

In my (gay) opinion.

That's considered a different name, even though it's not (like Matthew/Matthias).
Like how Americans insist that the hispanics named Jesus is not actually Jesus because of the pronunciation of the letter J because it offends their heretical sensibilities?

The only notable Adolph/Adolf or variant thereof I know of besides Mr. Hitler is Adolph Coors.
Adolph Rupp, basketball coach for U of Kentucky for many years, the court UK plays on is called "Rupp Arena".. still shocking they haven't canceled him. lord knows they try once a decade or so. Dude refused to let blacks play for him..

Sorry for tangent, just wanted to drop that tidbit

This entire trial is a picture perfect example of "debating for hours what a person has seconds to decide". Isn't this spectacle supposed to decide whether Mr. Chauvin murdered someone or not? Why are we speaking about basketball; calling one's brother every morning; what's the definition of a "threat"; or how much a given expert earns per month? A film director making a satirical comedy about the justice system wouldn't be allowed this much absurdity.

Many are examples of names within different languages which stem from the same root, yet are still considered to be separate within said language.
