Yeah. There were/are guys even "trying to be the next George Floyd" as you'll get literal instant martyrdom, fame, and your family will almost certainly get millions. Plus, if you survive you'll get millions AND lifetime employment as an "activist"
That's the idea, if you really are innocent of any wrongdoing you sort it out later in court, at the time a police officer makes the arrest you just deal with it and accept being arrested.
They think being arrested instantly means "go to prison for the rest of your life", they don't understand that a police officer makes an arrest because they don't know what the full situation is, they don't know who did what, they don't know what anyone's about, simply being arrested doesn't mean you are guilty, but that's the idea is if you're cuffed, then that means guilty, it's a complete misunderstanding of the entire point of a police force.
They also never, not once, think of this from the police officer's perspective or put any value on their lives, they don't know if anyone is armed with a deadly weapon or can access one, so if you don't cooperate you're putting the police officer's life in danger, they don't know what you're going to do, so if they feel like you're putting their life in the danger and the lead starts flying, it's your fault and that's how American society used to see it because they actually ya know, put some value on police officer's lives and appreciation for what they do, so the idea was if they had logical reason to believe their life was in danger then it was ok if they used lethal force even if it later turns out someone wasn't armed.
There are of course exceptions but 9 times out of 10 that's how it works and there'd be a lot less police encounters ending fatality if black people just chilled the fuck out.
EXACTLY right. At my college graduation party, a buddy was arrested literally walking to our cab ride home for "public intoxication" by some morbidly obese San Antonio PD women cop on a segway. This was right about.... 1230am. He was out, no charges at 430am. He didn't fight, he did tell them it was ridiculous but when they said he's under arrest he didn't try to play fight a cop or hide and seek. I've been pulled over by a state trooper for "Suspicion of DUI" while driving a car fill of drunks home. Had to get out and do a breathalyzer. Shit was NO FUN. I passed and went home. Simple as that, trooper seemed upset that I didn't meet the limite.....
