This HR1 bill is going nowhere. It's one of those bills that upsets the balancing game that keeps the uniparty in charge far too much to be acceptable. All of this is theater because the Democrats know that they have to go hard if they don't want to get absolutely stomped during the midterms. So they're throwing red meat for the activist base like crazy that they know will never pass so that they can point to it and go "see what the Republicans did? They dared stop you from having what you deserve! Now go and VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO!"

I think the current administration's challenges seep not only internally, especially with the schism of the Democratic party, and as well as the optics of Biden on the world stage.
I do not see other nations recognizing him as a strong leader and, quite frankly, deem him as just the opposite pushing the envelope of foreign affairs, testing the fence.

Agreed, it is a weak strategy even if it is to front-and-center Kamala for focus groups by sliding her into such a public facing, position traditionally filled by the President...it still is a loss as she is incredibly unlikeable. I think they pushed too hard in that scenario.
And if that was not the case, the optics are horrible, similar sentiment, Where is Joe?
It generates more uncertainty than what the familiar, stable course of traditional protocol.

This whole administration is a big flashing sign that the US is about to become the real life version of 2B2T.
You know, I heard of this minecraft server that simulates the southwest US and its vast deserts as well as some weird nutritional issues. In it you could dig a big hole, build a construct similar in size and sturdiness to a shipping container or welded shut schoolbus and bury it. Players would then take hapless victims and trap them in the contraption, give them lots of water to stave off the horrid heat, and feed them lots of food while blaring "Everywhere At The End Of Time" on repeat. The main problem being that only being fed a diet of rabbit led to protein poisoning which led to the captured player basically swimming in his own diarrhea and then dying. It's a really good thing public officials have their own servers and don't have to join shit like that.

Most student loan debt is owed to the government (or owed to banks who took those loans on with the government acting essentially as a cosigner) - so it technically wouldn't cost anything at all. Your increased taxes would technically be for the shortfalls in the government budget it would create (roughly 2billion, IIRC).
