Because knowingly passing a counterfeit bill is a Federal crime you stupid fucking mong. He might not have known that it was bad initially, however once the clerk came out and confronted him and he refused to do anything about it, that does shift to "Knowingly" passing.
 
To add to the responses you already got Zimmerman wasn't even initially charged until proto-BLM got involved and raised up a media circus about it. The garbage fire that is American race politics today was resparked from that case.
It's crazy how you can encounter people who still think Zimzam just gunned Martin down in cold blood and faked a scuffle when this 911 call exists of him screaming for help in the background for like 45 seconds before a shot goes off.

It's also a crime that says a lot about you as a person. Having knowing access to a $20 bill indicates criminal connections and a certain moral disregard for the law.
