TGWTG Nostalgia Chick / Lindsay Ellis / TheDudette - aka Hotdogs in face girl

The KF "Featured Content" headline really ought to be corrected... The video is explicitly not an apology, but rather a "fuck you" with much "yas queen" posturing. At most she says, "I shouldn't have done that, but..." concerning a handful of her "list of sins."

Why don't any of these former Channel Awesome bitches know how to properly apply makeup?

She can put on makeup properly, you can see it in other videos. I think this time she decided to not to so she can at least pretend she has her "mask off" like the title of the video would imply.

If that's the case, it was a swing and a very definite miss.

She’s had that realisation. She is fully aware that what’s happening to her now is exactly what she visited on others, and that is why she’s created this slog of a video to try to explain how it’s different with her instead of just saying “STFU faggot.”
That's exactly it. You can see that Lindsay FINALLY understands how pointless and toxic cancel culture is, but is so determined to not let "diet nazis" have a win (much like her "apology" to MovieBlob), so she just attributes almost all the negative criticism she got as "bad faith trolls" and "y'all just haterz cuz I got a vagina!!!!!".

Nobody except simps like Quinton nd Blob care that you have a uterus, Lindsay. Stuck up assholes unwilling to admit they're wrong come in ALL genders.

Something just occurred to me that I haven't thought of before, she's carrying herself in the video as someone who's simply minding their own business and is unfairly being dogpiled by other people for no reason and said people are working backward from the conclusion she's awful and cherry picking their way to a premise.
She also leaned heavily into the "you care about this too much" tactic that's always been popular with SocJust afflicted people, on account of the fact that they're cowards.

Once again it's worth pointing out that Linds didn't even get capital-C Cancelled, she still has her book deal, her patreonbux, her YT channel, etc etc. She got ratio'd on twitter after riling up people who didn't like her initial take, and only started to 'trend' when she deleted her account.

Like godDAMN her skin is thin for someone who sent wokelet dogpiles after other people for so long. I don't like Vaush or Contra either but they deal with this kind of thing almost weekly by now and just dismiss their woke haterz as "wokescolds."

Also, she brought up the rape story as another time honored Tumblrite tactic, the "I am a survivor and I am allowed to rape rap if I want!" Funnily enough Milo Yiannopolous tried a similar tactic when he endorsed priest pederasty (I was uh victim bloo hoo).

So your theory is she caked on an inch or so of makeup to show her "mask off" self? It's like looking at some sort of monster that's trying to disguise itself as human.

Seems pretty accurate to me then.
You figure she would be a bit better hiding how repulsive being such a horrible person has made her. Guess not. Guess she did the best she could with what she had. She probably looks like this (or will soon) without the 10 pounds of makeup.

its supposed to be a reference to Conquest of Bread by Kropotkin, which ofc is an important text and something they all are proud to reference but at the end of the day is ivory tower stuff that means dick to your average working class person like Lindsay’s southern “white trash” family (her words ofc, lovely)
It's fitting that most of them have not even read the book and those that did read it didn't learn shit from it.

I think the only good thing that came out of this is that the left is forced to finally admit they cancel culture isn't something that their detractors made up.
I’m not so sure. The impression I get from people like Lindsay and Allison Pregler is that mental gymnastics are the order of the day. Cancel culture “doesn’t exist,” that’s something made up by Diet Nazis (even though people on both sides of the political spectrum use the term). When people like Lindsay conduct their witch hunts, it’s about holding people accountable for their actions, even minor misdemeanours from years ago. And when Lindsay is the witch, well, it’s Diet Nazis acting in bad faith.

I reckon terms like “Diet Nazi” and “holding people accountable” will be adopted by these mother hens, then their opponents will use the terms against them, then they’ll whine about right-wing dog whistles.
Cancel culture has effectively been turned into a political tool to mute your opponents just because you don't share their perspective.
The entire world is forced to beat around the bush and tap dance to the same song because people will be offended by anything you say regardless of the context.
Whether people like Ellis realize it or not they have blood on their hands and now it's gotten so radical that one dissenting I think it can cause you your livelihood or even your life.
The idea of " taking accountability" doesn't work when people refuse to allow a person to grow past their mistakes
I don’t think it’s even about muting your opponents a lot of the time. It often is, but I think there’s a strong element of jealousy to it. People like Rowling and Ellis have lives that most Twittards can only dream of. So do you work to achieve the same success? No, that requires effort. Far easier to destroy them and bring them down to your level.

It's fitting that most of them have not even read the book and those that did read it didn't learn shit from it.
Reading your comment is the first time I've actually put serious though into their name. It only just hit me how much a misnomer Breadtube is. It may as well be added that to the list of ironies Kropotkin has suffered in the fullness of time. Even a group that claims to take up his mantle instead argues in favor of everything he feared and warned against. For anyone who hasn't read Conquest of Bread, here's how Kropotkin envisions his utopia: "Inspired by a new daring — thanks to the sentiment of solidarity — all will march together to the conquest of the high joys of knowledge and artistic creation. A society thus inspired will fear neither dissensions within nor enemies without." The poor guy is probably spinning in his grave given how much Breadtube have sown division and encouraged cancel culture all while using his work as their branding.

Its kind of sad. Personally I think Kropotkin's utopian vision is completely unworkable; Engels' argument in "On Authority" becomes more unassailable with every technological and societal development. At the same time though, most of his ideas are positive aspirations if nothing else and the others are at worst benign. A lefty YouTube group dedicated to fostering community, resisting authoritarianism, and helping people better realize their potential would be breath of fresh air nowadays. Instead we have Breadtube.

Even online, Communist ideals dissolve into corruption, cronyism and authoritarianism. Really makes you think.

Pretty much. Any Socialist or Communist ideal that doesn't embrace the iron fist either twists back to being capitalist oriented (like Social Democracy) or becomes a plump sheep for the nearest ideological wolf to devour and wear its skin. For a man who considered history to be a multi-millennia spanning tale of conflict and exploitation Marx was far too naïve if he ever genuinely believed an ideology that seeks to subordinate all power to a single all-consuming entity, free for any despot to seize the reigns, could ever be free of corruption, authoritarianism, and backstabbing. Lindsay Ellis just happens to have kindly positioned herself as this weeks case study.

Well what we have here lindsay responding to her "canceling" in form of a video no less

The point about “Elevating POC Voices” seems to be like Ellis trying to pull the “LOOK IM A GOOD ALLY GUYZ!!” Thing.

Either that or the commie state breaks down and becomes a military junta.

Khmertube is too obscure a reference...

Watched the entire video. God, those chicks are stupid, first they cultivated an audience of "cartoons for six year olds are deeply political and this is a problem" and then cry foul when they get canceled.
It's not like we leftists don't know that there are some fucked in the head people (mostly in antifa) who are there as an excuse to bash in some heads and they actively seek the twitter equivalent.
It's not like they won't end up in the Killing fields themselves and good for Ellis to try and put on the breaks.
Too bad she should have done that years ago.

In short, enjoy the beast you have fed all those years, bitches.

Every thought is a hostage situation. "Is this the tweet that's going to sink me?" So what do we call it? What is the name for this unspoken, unacknowledged culture of fear where we all know that one misstep can ruin our lives? This social media culture where we participate in the public shaming one day and become chained to the pillory next.
Oh, NOW that's bitting your ass, it's suddenly a bad thing. How convenient!

All similar concepts lead to the same result because they disregard basic human nature and the will to power. All soviet-style systems devolve into one all-powerful legislative body, like the Supreme Soviet, which is inevitably dominated by the most powerful personality, whether that is a Robespierre or a Stalin. Without a clear division of government authority into branches and checks and balances to prevent any one branch from dominating, this turns into tyranny, almost so universally as to be a law of nature.

Yet these ignorant cretins would gladly tear it all to the ground and send us into barbarism.
The point about “Elevating POC Voices” seems to be like Ellis trying to pull the “LOOK IM A GOOD ALLY GUYZ!!” Thing.
How about elevating intelligent voices? If the words are fucking moronic who gives a shit what color mouth they're coming out of?
