Eliezer Schlomo Yudkowsky / LessWrong

LessWrong believes in the idea that "we must look past our biases no matter what" which means there are certain types that tell LW people that Jews, Asians and whites are naturally smarter than other races and they have to listen to it. Here's an example of that: http://lesswrong.com/lw/9kf/ive_had_it_with_those_dark_rumours_about_our/

The point is that the AI can get out, and thus take over the world or something.

I believe the rules are that you do have to engage in conversation.

Shlomo probably knows which ASD buttons to press, but someone who isn't ASD won't be subject to those vulnerabilities. I guess we should wipe out the ASDs to get rid of the transmission vector for evil AI.
Well, it can't get out unless I let it out, right? Even then, if an imaginary AI tells me it's going to murder my family, I'm probably just going to laugh at it. And if the example of catparty has taught me only one thing, it's that mocking someone without caps is a perfectly valid way to engage in an argument.

*Scratches her head*

So it's kind of--slightly--like AI Nazi cyborgs/terminators taking over the world with an obsession with Harry Potter fan fiction.

Okay then.

Actually its more like The People's Temple if Jim Jones was a delusional neckbeard and instead of moving to Guyana they did fucking nothing at all and bragged about their contributions.

Also, has Schlomo ever heard of the Dunning-Kruger effect, because he's just about the perfect case of it.

He is a self-professed AI expert who not only has no experience in computer science but he doesn't even have a goddamn high school diploma.

His foundation has not done anything but ask for money.

Everything he says amounts to him talking himself up.

How is this dude not laughed at more?

Ah, gotcha. Thank you for the clarification. I attempted to read through some of the articles on his website, but I felt like pulling my hair out attempting to understand his pretentious bullshit.

Man, I thought I was on the loveshy therapy center for a second. There's a *huge* amount of overlap between "neoreactionaries" and the manosphere. A lot of manospambot blogs show up on Neoreactionary readers with a fair bit of consistency.

It's idiots like Yudkowsky who have the general public convinced that true AI is just around the corner. But he's not alone. Elon Musk yammered on about how we're five years from AI overlords.

There's Ray Kurzweil, too, who isn't an idiot. Of course, he dates his at 2045, which is far enough way you don't look like an utter nut for saying it, but I think by the time 2050 rolls around, it will look like those quaint visions of the future with flying cars by now that we remember from the 1950s.

So incredibly smug.
That reminds me, he made a essay on the twelve virtues of rationality. One of them is humility

I'm sure he'd admit to having flaws if asked, for instance, that he's excessively modest.

Yeah, I've heard 2045-2050 too. I've heard 2020 too. Real software engineers shake their heads.

"One of these things just doesn't belong here..."

Seriously, a quick overview of this thing makes me reconsider just how powerful a cult of personality can be. This dude is like the Anita Sarkessian of the fedora-tipping community. Except I think Anita actually went to college.

"If god did not exist, man would have to create him"

That sounds exactly like what the fuck is going on with LessWrong and their inane AI views.

Eliezer Shlomo Yudkowsky
that's my name too
whenever i go out
the people always shout
THERE GOES STERILIZER SHLOMO THE HOMO YOUDOUBTSKY

You motherfucker.

I haven't thought about John Jacob Jinglehiemer-Schmidt since fucking elementary school.

You have made me question what the hell I actually remember since the moment I read this snippet of your post, I could immediately identify the incorrect beginning of the second verse.

WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME
