It really goes to show how easy it is to get attention the moment someone declares they identify as a different gender, or even as the vaguest of labels, “queer”. And as soon as word gets out about the new identity people are expected to adjust and pretend like the person from before the new identity was declared, never existed. There was an exchange on Twitter screencapped a few pages back where Olly was talking with an old classmate and said something to the effect of “the person you knew is dead, there’s only me now” and that really stood out as troon narcissism to me.
He’s done fuck all since his coming out, only put out a couple of videos, whilst complaining on social media about how the country he lives in is apparently so hostile to men in dresses because they can’t get their titty skittles without a psych evaluation (unlike ‘Murica with its informed consent clinics). But I guess among the alphabet people that’s enough to earn him an award.

I'd argue just the opposite, that's what makes Olly so fucked he knew what he was doing he planned and played it in just this way. Don't hate the player hate the game, Olly is a bottom feeder but a very good one. He knew damn well he'd have to make himself the victim and this was his best option, seeing what it did for contra and wanting it for himself.
Olly is the product of his surroundings, he sees what ways the winds are blowing and wants to appeal to the technocratic overlords that control his YouTube channel and bank account.

PT is an attention whore pure and simple. I think he was deeply jealous of the mainstream clout and attention that Contra has gotten and even Hbomb after the charity stream. He talked a lot about trans issues over the years and was loud enough about it that he get praise for being a model ally. I remember one stream he did with another YouTuber about parasocial relationships, and the other YouTuber said how fans simping hard for creators to the point of weirdness made her uncomfortable, especially comments about how attractive the creator is. Olly explicitly said that he doesn't mind the thirsty comments at all and (at least at the time) actually enjoyed it. He leaned into it with doing the whole "Philosophy Daddy," passably attractive leftist masculine man thing. Now he begged to be nominated for an award right after coming out (which was orchestrated to be a PR stunt at the start of the year, even ripping off Elliot Page's coming out statement. Cringe af), but shies away from the "activist" label and hasn't done anything of merit in or outside the LGBT community other than saying "look at me, I'm trans!" and made a few tweets about the UK. Awards that rely on public voting are essentially popularity contests where the bigger your following, the more votes you're going to get so how much does it even matter?
It's notable that in that Tumblr post asking people to vote for him, he doesn't mention once why he thinks he'd be worthy of a nomination. He just says it'd be good for his career and that he technically qualifies for being trans on the internet. He doesn't even make try to make an argument about how being an "educational YouTuber" or an "artist" educates and brings awareness to LGBT issues (I don't think it does, but that's what I would have said if I were him.) He lays it out plain as day with "it'll help my career, so plz vote for me." That's what it's about and nothing else. The blurb in the link to the award voting does make some mention of this, but I think the way that Tumblr post was phrased was pretty telling.

Olly is the textbook definition of an erotic target identity inversion. He couldn't have Contra... so he became him. I think that's why he's so creepy - because at least other hons like Will or Robbie White want to be seen as "female" (err, whatever their weird interpretation of being female is)... Olly wants to be seen as a trans woman. He wants to be just like Contra not because of his cinematography, not because of his sociopolitical shit-takes, but because he wants to BE him. He knows the only thing separating the two of them is all the gender garb (because lets face it, both of their videos are seriously lacklustre) so he wants to bridge the barrier for no other reason than to wear his skin.

I was a fan who appreciated his content despite his frequent leaps of logic and bad acting.
A year back I noticed that something about him seemed really off, like he had gone insane in some way and was desperately trying to hide it.
Him coming out as "trans" really put it together that this guy was just a big fucking fraud all along.
Nothing about him is genuine, and it really makes me wonder how over-dramatized his stories are. He's just constantly begging for sympathy from others, and blaming others for his past instead of trying to look inward. It's insane.
I think a part of why he is such a bad actor plays into it. So much of good acting means being able to portray a genuine part of yourself, and portraying yourself through a character, not just putting on a mask.
Olly is nothing but masks.

I also used to enjoy his content. It was when he released his “Sex Work” video that I realised how predictable his opinions were, and then by extension how his opinions were just the stock “acceptable” ones you see in the worst of leftist online spaces. Any veneer of authenticity was just lost at that point and it became apparent that the real purpose of his channel was to fulfil his narcissistic need for attention and adoration.
Since trooning out it seems that his narcissism has become more blatant. Any limits he had to put on his behaviour as a cis white man instantly evaporated when he put on a dress. Only time will tell how much worse it will get. Bids on him ripping off Contra’s “Beauty” video?

It’s super awkward how Olly keeps saying mmhhmm in the background the whole time.
The crazy laughter sounds so deranged. Olly wants to boom out a raucous (male) laugh but tries to stifle it.
“Paris” seems to indicate that class issues are more important to his view of the world and his experiences. Olly dramatically says it’s very hard right now for LGBT people. “Paris” says, “it’s very hard for a lot of people right now...” Olly just can’t stop with the muh LGBT inequality LARP.
And just generally this could not have been more awkward. I’m unfamiliar with the author of the book but having listened it’s clear that he has struggled for probably decades with his gender dysphoria or whatever. So many times “Paris” was sharing something and Olly would attempt to equalize their stories and it’s just SO CLEAR that Olly is larping. “Paris” indicates what it was like going through a journey of many years, and at a time when there WAS a social price to be paid for being gender non conforming, and Olly is mmhmming in the background and then adding an awkward rejoinder that totally falls flat. “Paris” is polite and seems to accept Olly as trans but you can read in “Paris’s” tone and comments that deep down Paris knows Olly doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about.
Olly DM’d “Paris” and “Paris” ignored it because Olly was just another dude at the time. It’s interesting that Olly was reaching out not to ask about how to SURVIVE THE FASCIST REGIME of TRANSPHOBIC BRITAIN, but rather for styling tips.... Pretty telling.

I wonder how truthful Paris' book will be about what happened as the victim of the robbery later died because if it. He's used the name "Byron" because his deadname isn't public knowledge.
